It is that time of the year again. Dumpling festival or Dragon Boat Festival.
Actual date is today but we pre-ordered Nyonya chang from a friend's mum last week. 100 pieces (RM2.50 each). Collected last Wednesday and my man delivered 40 dumplings to my dad's shop and sis' house the next day.
Some for hubby's friends and the rest, we keep and eat at home.
In the past, we ordered from our friend and the mum only takes order on this special festival. No longer young so she hardly make many or frequently.
Her bak chang still tastes good. Soft glutinous rice and tasty meat filling, all for RM2.50 each. Not so big, so I could take 2 dumplings at one time.
Everyone enjoyed them a lot.
We were having dumplings for the past week and still, we have some to enjoy today.
A friend gave us some Hakka chang and I heated them up for breakfast.
I liked them, filled with peanuts and salted egg yolk other than meats, dried prawns and mushrooms. Brought back some of my childhood memories. ^^

I love nyonya chang!!! Too bad we can't get them here. Luckily, my friend made really good ones and gave me some!!! Yum yummmm!!!!
Happy Dragon Boat to u too...the bak chang is so fresh and cheap!
I like the ones you ordered, small and then can eat more! hahaha... very hard to get that price nowadays.. the ones I order in Ipoh is at least RM5 and above.
I was informed that cannot wish happy dumplings day because this day is to commemorate the death of a scholar who was also a righteous man so nothing happy about it. Why so affordable? Only rm2.50 each? Sell higher price la since need to make so many. Are those really peanuts and not black eyed peas cos I have not eaten peanuts in Bak chang before.
Yes. Real peanuts. Hakka chang usually consists of meat, mushrooms, peanuts and dried prawns. Ages since I have one.
Thanks for confirming it!
RM2.50 each? That is pretty cheap! If I can get at such price, I would have bought a lot. Huhuhu. I have not eaten a single Nyonya chang this year :(
I am a big fan of bak chang including Nyonya bak chang. RM2.50 is really cheap. Tasty and cheap Nyonya bak chang is not easy to find here in Ipoh.
Amazing festival, that is new to me, but everything looks so good!
I love to eat bak chang a lot, especially those savory hokkien meat dumplings.
