New Oriental Kopi

This new Oriental Kopi opened not long ago in KLIA2. We had a chance to patronise this new shop when we were flying to Langkawi on the 12th. We took the KLIA Transit train (RM2 per way for adult and RM1 per way for child below 12 years old) from KLIA to KLIA2 and directly to this new Oriental Kopi outlet.

We actually wanted to try it when we visited Mid Valley mall. Hubby tasted its egg tart before and he was raving on how good it was but the shop was so packed that we didn't get to try it out. And even the side counter for its egg tart takeaway was also out of the question as the queue was so long.

Luckily the KLIA2 branch wasn't that packed so we got a nice table for 5 of us and had our lunch there.

While waiting, I was busy snapping the surrounding. They also selling coffee packets to customers. Nice gift to give to those who likes coffee.

The first order that came to our table was their oriental signature egg tarts!! Like what hubby said, they were really good. Flaky skin and creamy filling. We enjoyed them very much.

My man also ordered its kaya butter toast to share around.

Half boiled eggs for the man, since no one wanted it.  After a taste of half of the egg tart and few bites of the toast, I were already half full. Need some tummy space for my main dish!!

Jamie had the Hainanese chicken rice. He finished the rice and took some of the chicken while the rest of the meats went to me and hubby.

Mee Siam for Jan and Jay. Jay finished his plate and he commented it was good. On the othe hand, Jan wasn't feeling well suddenly so didn't finished her Mee Siam. Luckily by the time we reached Langkawi, she was doing alright.

Curry laksa mee for me and hubby!! Slightly spicy and creamy, with strong coconut broth.

We only managed to finish 2 of the egg tarts. Tapaued the remaining 2 and brought to Langkawi.

Checked out

It was our last day in KL. Hubby and I went out around 7am to hunt for breakfast. So we walked the pedestrian walk again. Supposed to go to Lot 10 area and check out the hawker stalls but we stopped at the Cosway building. I remember that I used to take breakfast once with few ex-colleagues during my training there. Luckily my memory was good, so hubby and I decided to hunt for food at the Cosway building. No need to walk further to Lot 10 area.

We did find the hawker place at the side of the building next to Cosway building. Few hawker stalls but they opened very early. We were happy to find that the ccf stall was opened for business that morning.

Hubby did the ordering. He ordered yong tofu and chee cheong fun, one was in sweet sauce for me and he took the yong tau fu with curry gravy. Chee cheong fun underneath all the yong tofu.

He enjoyed his with curry gravy as we couldn't find those in Kuching. Actually hard to find such dish in Kuching. Mostly our stuffed yong tofu was served in soup base. And ccf is ccf in Kuching. Not with the yong tofu and ccf together.

As for the kids, I bought halal wonton mee for them from the next stall. After we were done with our breakfast, we walked back and rested before we checked out and off to the airport.

Wait

Before we were leaving Mid Valley, we had our dinner there. Din Tai Fung was our dinner spot. Actually we wanted to go there for lunch but the place was packed and long queue so we decided to try our luck and come back later for dinner. We did and luckily it wasn't full. But still, it took quite a wait for our dinner to arrive on our table. We weren't that hungry so we didn't mind the wait.

A server robot spotted at the front of the shop. We did see it moving around while we were dining there.

Din Tai Fung was famous for its mouth-watering xiao long bao. It was made freshly daily, as can be seen from the kitchen next to the entrance.

We ordered a steamer to try. Careful of the hot soup in the soup dumplings!!

I ordered this pork chop noodle soup for Jamie. Of course he couldn't finished the whole pork chop himself, so it was shared among us. He did finished his noodle though.

I feel like having chicken soup, so I ordered this chicken soup noodle for dinner.

Hubby and Jay each was having the prawn dumplings noodle.

This was Jan's dinner. All of us were having noodles, except her. Other than breakfast, Jan rarely eat noodle. She is much of a rice person, compared to the boys. Pork chop fried rice for her.

There was one dish that I didn't take shot of. The prawn cake.  Our bill was amounting to over RM220 inclusive of drinks.

Dim sum treat

Hubby has a friend from Kapit who has been living in KL for more than 20 years. He was his primary and secondary school classmate, so they have been friends for almost 40 years. He met us on Sunday (11 December); picked us up from our apartment and drove us to Sri Petaling for a dim sum treat.

He chosen this well known dim sum place. Ba Hao Dim Sum Restaurant.  One of his favourite restaurant for dim sum.

The place was rather full inside and outside but we managed to get a table for 6 of us in the restaurant.

The restaurant was pretty clean, and brightly lighted. Service was quite fast amidst the crowds.

Our friend recommended what to have, what is good. Hubby and him did the ordering while the rest of us waited patiently for our breakfast.

A bowl of plain dry noodle for the boys to share. Hubby and I shared this century egg and pork congee.

This is called Ba Hao three platter. Of course you know the egg tart went to whom...My girl!! The other was polo bun and pork bun (char siew bao).

To me, this wok fried radish cake worth trying. It had that salted egg to it, so it was salty yet flavourful. Really addictive to me.

The stuffed eggplant with fish paste was nice as well.

HK hawker style chee cheong fun was something new to me, never tasted such in dim sum restaurant. Caramel like sweet sauce with generous sesame seeds on top of the ccf.

Steamed beancurd rolls were alright; we had that before.

The steamed chicken feet - tasted okay, didn't sweep my feet away! Lol.

But Jamie seemed to enjoy the lo mai kai. I had a bite of the glutinous rice, it was good. No wonder he liked it.

Other steamers that we ordered was siu Mai and pork buns. Can't left out these two when having dim sum, right??

And other steamers included steamed Malay egg cake, steamed scallop and prawn dumplings, prawn dumplings (har kao) and salted egg yolk custard buns.

Yes, we did have a lot to digest in one sitting but we did finished most of it. Super full after that. Thanks to our friend for the treat.

After dropped us at our apartment, we took shower and rest and then left to visit Lalaport mall. We used train to go to Bintang Walk as Jamie wanted to buy a Lego set in a Lego flagship shop in Pavillion Bukit Bintang. Our 2nd visit to Bintang Walk, but in the rain again. At least he got his Lego set before we walked back to our apartment.

What's in

It was rather warm on that Saturday when we visited the Muzium Negara. So, to run away from the heat, we decided to take a ride to Mid Valley megamall after the museum visit. The day earlier, we went to Decathlon in Shoppes, Four Seasons after KLCC. Hubby like shopping in Decathlon so he bought us there. The boys got the most in Decathlon.

Our shopping for CNY clothings continued in Mid Valley. Jan earned few dresses there. But before we started on our shopping, we went to the ground floor to check out on the restaurants and cafes. The floor was packed!! Everywhere was ocean of people! We walked from the Mid Valley all the way to The Gardens Mall. But not all was full. Like this place. Wonder what they have in here.

Chicken Claypot House. Ok, the name indicated what it offered. Lol. Besides chicken, they do have fish and pork based soup.

You could say, we found this place was not so crowded so we decided to settle our lunch there, instead of walking and wandering around.

We ordered this warm pot of 2 flavours. Special taste chicken with less spice; and pork stomach chicken soup.

The white broth was the pork stomach and chicken soup. Peppery, good for those that love pepper.

As for the special taste chicken, it tasted like sesame and soy sauce chicken. Slightly spicy.

We enjoyed the soups with rice and noodles.

I shared this bottle of snow birds nest drink with Jan and I also had a glass of herbal tea. Hubby drank most of the tea.

Museum

It was Saturday, 10 December 2022.  Our itinerary was a visit to museum.  We chosen Muzium Negara for an educational visit with the kids.  So, we took a Grab from our stay to the museum.

We reached the museum slightly after 10am, but it was pretty crowded.  School holidays have started and many children around.  Probably a school organised tour for them. so the museum ground was packed with students.

Photography was allowed in the museum so we took much of our photos with the exhibits.
