Putien mee

One of my stalls is doing this type of noodle which was rather unknown in Kuching. Putien mee, something like Heng Hua mee which was slightly sourish and spicy. 

For spice enthusiasts who are looking for stronger flavourful noodle dish, this might be your choice when you visit our coffee shop. 

With handmade noodle (RM8) or without noodle (RM7), its handmade pork balls are slowly gaining popularity in the coffee shop. 

Other noodles to choose from include longevity noodle (mee suah) and vermicelli.  The stall also serves side dishes such as kimchi tofu and fried chicken feet

Christmas

On Christmas day, we went to this well known shopping mall for a look of its Christmas decoration. 

This year, we were rather late in visiting the mall but what better day to visit and enjoy the decoration than on the day itself??

A big and bright, striking flower-themed Christmas tree placed in the front of the mall entrance was the main attraction.

More flowers in the mall, but not much photos taken as packed with crowds. So we did took few shots and walked away.

Our Christmas 2021 was fun and lively as we spent a couple of hours at my parents' house in the morning. My sis, sis' hubby were there, so together with my bro and his family, it was a big and eventful gathering. Coincidentally, my parents' wedding anniversary fell on 24 December, so a nice catching up and gathering for everyone. We also got to look through an album of old photos of them (from dating time to married and to having kids) and other uncles and aunties. Dad and mum were reminiscing on those wonderful and sweet memories.

Then we went to the mall, spent slightly more than a hour for lunch and Christmas photos before we went to pick up my MIL who arrived from Kapit with my hubby's bro and family. They drove all the way. My MIL will stay with us while she is in Kuching.

As we were about to leave my BIL's house, a neighbour spotted and invited us to his house. Our old neighbours, who happened to be from Kapit as well. So we spent some time there before headed home.

Nurturing sport passion with Milo® Champions Clinic

This post summarises the 1-week school holiday for the boys.

I enrolled the boys in Milo® Champions Clinic (MCC) a week before the school holiday started on 11 September. Option of futsal and badminton was given; the boys chosen the latter sport. 

The kit arrived a day before school holiday, which consisted of 1 Milo training jersey, 1 badminton racquet with bag, 6 cones, and 6 synthetic shuttlecocks for each participant.

It is a 5 weeks of at-home training, where each week, the children will learn basic skills at home by watching a video clip, submitting homeworks to coach, then followed by a weekly online coaching session with an experienced coach, where the progress will be monitored to ensure that they learn the right techniques. So, from 11 September, my boys have been watching the Week 1 training clip, and learnt the techniques at home accordingly.  

Both are enthusiastic to learn, as one is a novice  and  of playful nature while another has exposed to the sport back in school previously. With the current pandemic, it is hard to get the children to sweat and get active while cooping at home, but thanks to Milo® Champions Clinic, there is a new way for children (age 7 to 12 years old) to learn and pick up sports, safely at home during this difficult time. 

Yesterday, the boys had their first live e-coaching session with their coach via video conferencing. It took around 15 minutes, where 3 participants interacted with their coach. Over 200 participants this round, where they are divided into groups of 3. Each group is assigned to one coach and a specified time for e-coaching every Saturday. 

I like the fact that the e-coaching is more personal, as not many participants so the coach could guide each participant well via video conferencing. The boys had chance to show the coach what they had learnt; and correct tips and points from coach were given. 

Over this 5-weeks of home training and e-coaching session with Coach Tan Shau Heng, I hope my boys not only have a fun time but at the same time, learn new useful, practical techniques through this programme.

Thanks to Milo® Champions Clinic, this school holiday isn't totally spent and wasted on TV and online games, but getting my young, growing boys to stay active and nurturing their passion for sport. At the same time, this mummy also get to practise along too!!! Years have passed since I picked up a badminton racket!! 😊 The boys' eldest sister also joined in the fun, playing with them! A nice bonding time for family, away from TVs, phones and gadgets.

In the bag

The last Friday of July. Hubby came home late as he had auditors in the office, busy with them. And then he went to meet up with a colleague from Sri Aman. She bought over some durian and dabai (wild olive). 

Oh my! The durians from Sri Anan sure were good.  Small size, the flesh was yellowish and sweet. 

Hubby immediately cut open one that evening. Initially I did not want it as I don't fancy it because of heatiness. But then I obliged and took 2 seeds. After that, we drank some water from the durian husk. They said it neautralise the heatiness, so we followed this myth. Yet, I poured myself a glass of lukewarm salted water after that. Lol. 

Not only that she gave us a bag of durians, she also passed a container of ready-to-eat wild olive. Not the usual glossy black skin, but purplish, lighter colour. 

When hubby brought home this big paper bag, I thought we were going to enjoy something yummy for supper. Alas, just to keep the dabai, 2 muffins and a drink which he already finished off. 

One chocolate muffin, which Jay took after ate the durian, while this butter chocolate chip muffin was kept for my tea break the day. 

Heated it up for few minutes and it was so soft and warm. Too sweet though but I managed to finish it up. 

Did we keep all the durians? No, passed some to my parents. Cannot finish all by ourselves. That night after I took it, my body immediately reacted. Dry cough, dry throat. That is why I don't fancy or eat it much nowadays.

Fun learning with Little Hippo books

I have been busy at home since Jamie stays at home. He doesn't go to school for over a week now. He was infected with chicken pox. 

So, what does he do at home? Others than disturbing me, playing my phone and watching tv, I am glad that he manages to read some books. Last week, he received these awesome Little Hippo books from Big Bad Wolf.

Riding the bike

Darling hubby has been on diet programme for a month now and he has lost 4 kg since then. Every day he would proudly show off his waist line to me. He can fit into most of his pants now.

I have to remind him now and then that diet itself would not do good if he did not exercise too. Hubby has a bad ankle so jogging is not a good idea. Swimming would not be good either since it has been raining almost every afternoon and evening, and public swimming pool is not open till later in the morning. So I suggested to him riding a bicycle instead. I told him to take out his mountain bike that has been idle in the store for many months now. The mountain bike was actually a gift from my dad. My dad knew hubby loves bike so he gave him one mountain bike last year.

After many days of nagging, darling hubby has finally took out his bicycle from the store last night. Hubby is thinking of riding at the nearby park early in the morning since most of the evening, we have heavy shower here. It is a better option as I do not encourage him to ride in the neighbourhood area. One reason is that there are many cars and dogs around, and secondly there are no proper bike lanes for bikers. So to be safe on a bike, it is advisable for him to bring his bicycle in his car and ride at the nearby park.

However when we checked his bicycle last night, we discovered that its bicycle saddle has torn and both tires are flat. So hubby may needs to change the bicycle saddle and both tires. Fun days

Guess what I am thinking of doing during the 2 days holiday? I am planning to have some fun with darling hubby at home.
