Tasty breakfast

It was my off day on Tuesday, and hubby was on leave. So together with my mil, we went to Tasty Delight food court which was opposite to Emart Batu Kawa for breakfast. 

On my last visit, I had the Penang Char kway teow, so I had that again. RM9 for this tasty dish, so good, so satisfying. Prawns, Chinese sausages and cockles accompanied this wok hei fried kway teow topped with fried egg made a tasty breakfast for me. 

Mil and hubby ordered these 3 dim sum. Mil wanted to try the xiao long bao so one basket of that. 

Not that good. Rather dry and no oozing soup from the dim sum. The har Kaw (prawn dim sum) wasn't that nice as well. Skin was thick and dry. 

For consolation, the steamed pork rib was better although looked rather pale. RM21 for these 3 baskets.

The best of all was the mini oyster pancake from the o'chien stall. We tasted its oyster omelette back in June before opening of my shop. Everyone enjoyed it very much. 

This round, instead of Kuching styled omelette, we tried its pancake version instead. Crispier and irresistible. RM15 for 10 pieces. Simply good.

We bought 2 sets of these home and you bet who took them the most!! Will come back for more of these, you bet. 

On board

Are you a fan of Heng Hua noodle?? If yes, then hop on over. Introducing new menu on board in my coffee shop. 

Newest addition by Ben's Kitchen, Heng Hua mee or Pa mee is a common noodle found in Fujian, China. It is clean eating yet delicious dish. I tasted Heng Hua mee once in Kuching, and mind you, it was not a common dish around here as only very few shops do this, so it is quite refreshing to have this on board. 

Eggless wheat noodle with flavourful, peppery and sourish (vinegar) broth.  3 options to choose from. I went for the normal one, RM10 as the portion was enough for me. Filling and satisfying dish. 

Pudding

One weekend, hubby and I went to this Biugo Tau Fu fah shop for dessert. It was a warm day so it was nice to enjoy some chilled soya pudding. 

The shop was in MJC, in same shop with Go Fun Kee Bat Kit Teh. Not many customers when we were there. 

 

Our dessert came in this disposable cup. 

Super silky, super nice to take. RM3.90 per cup. 

Snacking on kompia

This Siong Corner Kopitiam is located in Papillon MJC, same row with Jia Hao Cafe. I went there personally twice in the past, before my coffee shop started. Once I had its Sarawak laksa and on my 2nd visit, I took its curry chicken rice. The food was decent enough. 

Just few days ago, we bought some Kompia from the eatery. RM1.80 each. 5 stuffed Kompia, it was really good. Crispy outside and tasty, tender filling. I loved it very much. My Jay liked snacking on them so much, I bought another 5 pieces from the shop for him. 

Bruises

Earlier last week, I had bruises on my right upper arm. I didn't bother much about it, thought I must have bumped into something, yet I wasn't aware much of. 

So, after few days later, another bruise developed. This time on my left side. And then the other side. Then I started to take notices of the bruises. 

Till Friday, I have 5 bruises in total on both arms (4 on right side) that I told my mil on them. She advised I consult doctor. So I did that last Saturday. Either I carry too heavy stuff or I bump myself or something else, she took blood sample to test that morning. 

 Fingers cross, that it isn't anything serious. 

The old town taste

My last post was last month. And it was about Mooncake Festival happening in Batu Kawa Old Town. This post also happening in the same town. 

It was my parents' treat last Sunday at this well known Hakka coffee shop. 11 of us in 3 cars met up at this shop for early dinner around 5pm. Some tables were reserved and luckily we were able to get a big round table then. 

The shops in Batu Kawa old town were upgraded before, so presentable and nicer. Look how long they were. Almost the double size of current shophouses that we have nowadays. 

This place is popular with its fried mien sien (mee suah). Hakka fried style with cangkuk manis, egg and dried prawns. 

After fried mee suah, next on our table was this mei chai kou rou (pork belly with preserved mustard). Not too salty and meat was chunky yet mouth melting, just nice to go with white rice. 

Its signature fried beancurd was well accepted around the table, everyone really enjoyed it with the sweet spicy dipping. 

For vegetable, my dad ordered this Thai style spicy and sour midin salad. 

Kids' favourite; fried chicken which was really crispy and tasty. Not only the kids, the adults also loved its juiciness and flavour.

When mention about Batu Kawa, one thing come to mind is its fish balls. The famous handmade fish balls soup was equally good with tasty, fresh fish paste. 

Lastly, we had this salted fish pork belly stir fried. 

Overall a great sumptuous dinner. 

 

Happy Mid-Autumn!

It is Mid-Autumn today, so wishing everyone, a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. 

Not much of a celebration this year, we did bought a box of mooncakes from Cosway and a friend gave us a lovely mooncake set. So we are going to enjoy them slowly.

To uphold the tradition and festive mood, yesterday we went to Batu Kawa Old Town for its mooncake festival bazaar. This was my second time visit during this festive to this old town; first was many years ago when the kids were really small. This round we brought our mil along.

We were fortunate to find a parking space but need to walk a distance to reach the town. We didn't mind the walk as we could enjoyed the waterfront view. 

It didn't take long when we reached the temple. Many people were offering prayers there. We passed by the temple and took some shots before walked further to the old shops. 

The bazaar started right at the entrance of the temple and the streets were packed with stalls and people even though it was not even 6pm. 

Any moon sighting from your side tonight?? I wonder if we could see moon tonight but it has been good weather and clear sky after rain in the morning. We did see a big round yellow moon at Batu Kawa!! With a cute rabbit on top of it!!

Some stalls and food shots I took along the street. The kids sure enjoyed themselves and indulge in those sinful snacks!! Luckily it isn't that often they do that. Lol.

We spent almost an hour there, bought some snacks, dessert and grilled fish home.  By the time we left, the small road were jammed.
