Porridge

A new stall in Jia Hao Cafe that opened sometime this month.

Porridge stall!! The new stall offers pork, prawns to fish porridge. Definitely a good, nice meal to have to warm up the tummies in the morning.

The other day, I tasted its fish and prawns porridge, on the house. It was super good, super comforting. More of congee texture, with marinated fish slices and fresh prawns.

Pork porridge

The other day, we tried out the pork porridge. RM7 per bowl. Tasty and savoury porridge, definitely a great meal to start off the day.

And besides porridge, this stall also selling prawn mihun. Another variation is using noodle instead of mihun. This tasty, mild broth of seafood goes well with the handmade noodle, which I enjoyed. RM9 per bowl.

New stalls

There was this new stall that opened not long ago in this food court and I meant to try it out one day. I did on my recent visit.

RM27 frog porridge

DBS Geylang Frog Porridge!! We ordered a set to share. We opted for Kung Pao flavour for the frog meat, so it was spicy and sweet with onion, ginger and spring onions. Hubby and I enjoyed the porridge very much.

Someone was super hungry that evening that she ordered this Chinese economy rice from Satay House. That was very filling.

RM10.50 from Satay House

Depends on what dishes they cook, sometimes I will buy a dish or two, and cook rice at home for dinner.

RM7 from Happy Kitchen Snack Bar

Hubby ordered this egg wrap from another new stall. Great snack for someone who needs a quick fix.

Cha Kueh RM6

Another snack we had was this cha kueh, which we never tasted before. I ordered the salty cha Kueh which was good. The Kueh was fried to crispy perfection.  I would sure reorder when I come to this food court in the future.

Off day

It was the shop's off day on Tuesday so everyone had a well-deserved rest. After all the Gawai weekend work at shop, everyone needed a good sleep and rejuvenation. Two of my Dayak staff went back to their respective hometown for the celebration so the kids came full force to help out at the shop. Tuesday was also a public holiday in Sarawak so the boys didn't need to go to school that day.

After everyone woke up and got ready, we drove out for breakfast. No jam on the road and the drive was smooth. We went to one of our favourite noodle eateries, Kim Joo for its vinegar noodle and mixed pork soup. How much we missed that!!

Luck was on our side as we found a parking spot right behind the post office. And we also found a vacant table right in front of the shop when we reached there.  Yes!!! It was a very good morning.

Soon our breakfast came; we didn't need to wait so long. Our noodle with mixed pork soup. Never fail to impress and satisfy our craving.

The soup was comforting and eaten with the slightly sourish vinegar noodle, it was a nice and filling breakfast. Everyone finished their noodle till the bowls were clean, literally speaking. Lol. We were ravenous and at the same time, missed the taste of the food.

After filling up our tummies, we drove around the city, and all the way to Sentosa. Not all the time we were able to drive and enjoy each other company. Hubby suggested to go to Aeon Mall for a window shopping. We reached the parking space before its opening at 10.00am but it was only few minutes wait before it opened for customers.

We did some shopping at computer shop and then let the kids de-stress and have some fun at the games arcade.

The boys had a blast there. They spent almost an hour there while hubby, Jan and I went to the nearby food court, had a chill and waited for them.

After they were satisfied, we headed back to our car and headed home.  As for our lunch?? I bought fried rice from Kim Joo in the morning, while the kids had their favourite broasted chicken with savoury rice from Sugarbun.

My verdict on the fried rice?? It was good and full of ingredients.

Pork platter

I was craving for pork leg rice one evening, so together with hubby and Jan, we went to this food court opposite Emart Batu Kawa for dinner.

First time ordering from the pork leg rice stall. Taste wise, it was alright. Not as authentic or that taste I loved growing up. It was decent enough.

Both was around RM30 with rice.
