Result day

After months of waiting, today is the day. SPM result day!!! And what a relief to know that my eldest passed her 2023 SPM exam with good grades. 6 A+, 3 A and 1 B. Congratulations to her. We are so proud of her.

After closed our coffee shop this afternoon, hubby and I brought Jan to her school to collect her certificates and other documents. Then the three of us went to Little Sushi in Pines Square for a little celebration meal. 

It was late afternoon so the place wasn't that full. We placed order on the order chit and passed to the waitress. In the past, we used to order through the online app but now they implemented ordering through chit. Maybe not all customers are familiar with online ordering or much prefer physical menu and writing down their order. 

Sakura blossom, cold green tea and iced Ribena

This was the first time I tried its cocktail. I had one that was called Sakura Blossom. RM9.80 per glass, which was not too sweet, it was alright to quench my thirst. 

It was mostly my girl's call to order whatever she wanted since this meal was for her. She started off with fried hotate (RM10.90). Then this taco set which was rather enticing and addictive with the crispy fried seaweed wrap. Our taco set was RM65 with 5 different toppings.

My man wanted sashimi so he ordered few different sashimi platters to share among us. The first one was maguro sashimi (RM17.60), salmon sashimi (RM18.60) and Ika Sashimi (RM17.60).

These 2 rolls were unagi temaki and soft shell crab temaki, which Jan and my man requested. RM10.60 each.  

Of course we did not missed out on ordering some sushi for ourselves. We had Fuku set for RM41.60.

This Sakana roll RM16.60 was rather good and fresh. Something we never ordered and tasted in the past. Using fish slices as the roll, it was tasty. I hardly used any dipping when having this roll. I like eating the raw fish or sashimi as it is without dipping. 

Lastly on our order list was this deep fried soft shell crabs (RM14.60). My favourite, I had to admit. Do you like soft shell crabs? 

Our nice and tasty late afternoon meal before we headed home. 

Vegetarian diet

The newest stall in Jia Hao Cafe. Cater to vegetarian diet needs, we have this vegetarian stall that serve varieties of local dishes.

From fried noodle to Kolo Mee, Kampua and Sarawak laksa, there is something for those who look for meatless option. Price is from RM5.

As today is Wesak Day, wishing those that celebrating, a Happy Wesak Day. 

Mother's Day dinner

We didn't have anything special for Mother's Day celebration last Sunday. I still have to open my shop and everything was usual. 

But for Mother's Day dinner, I didn't need to cook and instead we went to Go Fun Kee for bak kut teh dinner. 

My family quite enjoy bak kut teh so it was a delightful dinner for everyone. We had both dry and soupy version that evening. 

The man requested extra bowl of big intestine and beancurd skin to enjoy along with the back out teh. 

Our dinner was slightly over RM150 plus drinks which was reasonable. The place was packed when we dined there. Luckily we were able to find a table for ourselves as we didn't make any reservation. 

Moved here

Good news for those who loves the stinky tofu that used to be at this place, you can enjoy it again at Lao Jie Fang.

My man happened to saw a post in FB on the stinky tofu operating in this food court not long ago so he immediately asked me to accompany him and we drove over to the food court to search for the tofu.

Thankfully it was opened on that weekend and my man hopped out to order two tubs of the stinky tofu. 

No, I didn't tasted any. I tasted twice in the past, also bought from the sane stall when they were in previous location. 

So my man enjoyed both tubs by himself. One is origin while the other one was black tea infused. 

Now he knows where to enjoy stinky tofu in Kuching whenever he has the craving for it. 

Lunch with her

Early this morning, I brought my girl to UTC to do her new IC. Past her 18th birthday, so it is time to get a new IC.

I set 840am appointment through the JPN online website last month. Although it was raining and traffic was rather heavy this morning, we managed to reach there before 830am. We were third in the queue. Thank God it only took us around 15 minutes for the whole process and we got her new IC on the spot.

Then we went to do our errands and after all the driving, we planned on going to this newly opened pizza chain for lunch. 

But alas. No parking and we could see it was a queue inside the shop. So that didn't went according to plan. 

We ended up at Yummy Xpress MJC for our lunch. 

I ordered SCR fried rice with fried egg as I used to enjoyed it. This time, it didn't fail me but after finishing the whole dish, I was bloated! Quite a portion for a small eater.

Jan picked the fish and chicken combo. You know she always like such fried stuff. The fish fillet has that fishy smell to it, so it wasn't that nice. We much prefer the Fish N Chips from Small Coconut in 38 Food Street. 

Three Amigos

It was Jan's birthday on 28th April. Few of her best friends came over to coffee shop in the morning to celebrate her birthday. It really made her day. Thanks for the thoughtfulness and love from her buddies. 

In the evening, as a birthday treat, we went to Three Amigos restaurant at Rock Road. It was our first time dining there. 

Quiet and cozy place to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. Not .any customers when we dropped by on that Saturday evening. 

Cheesy nachos as our starter for the evening; it was Jamie's order as it was one of his favourite snacks. 

Soon, hubby's grilled sirloin beef steak came. Hubby requested for rare but the steak was more of well done. Taste-wise it was alright but lost that juiciness and tenderness of rare steak. 

I had the classic British Fish & Chips, so I can shared it with Jamie. 

Jay had spaghetti beef Bolognese, and he was able to finish this big portion all by himself. 

The birthday girl went for chicken parmigiana for her dinner. 

Our dinner plus drinks costs slightly over RM200.
