Little

We seldom go to King's Centre area for food as it was a way too far for us. 

However on one Saturday we needed to collect a car from my parents's house, so my man suggested to go to this cafe for breakfast beforehand. 

Little Skill.  It has been ages since we visited this noodle shop. Not only because it was far from our place but the food was rather pricey. 

But since we haven't been here for quite sometime, we were happy to have our breakfast that morning. 

We ordered 3 sets of this (noodle + mixed meats soup)  and 3 extra plain noodles. 

The bowl was big but not the noodle. Portion too little that my Jay ate 2 bowls of noodle that morning. 

The soup was great as it was in the past. Slices of fish fillets, meatballs, fishballs, pork belly, soft tofu and greens and salted mustards to complete a lovely bowl of soup.

The sliced pork belly was tender and went  so well with vinegar and soy sauce dipping.

Total price inclusive of drink is RM67. 50.

Another breakfast date

It was a weekday and as usual, I sent my man to work since his car was still not ready.

2 older kids were at home, still in their beds as it was a Deepavali holiday. Jamie had school as usual and he can't escape as it was his assessment test day that morning.

It was 8am when we reached Blossom Cafe. It was early so I had a breakfast date with my man.

I had the usual Sarawak laksa. A good and satisfying bowl of Sarawak laksa.

My man had the handmade noodle with a side bowl of laksa gravy. Handmade noodle, not my cup of tea. Don't ask me why, I never enjoy handmade noodle. 

I also bought 2 packs of kolo mee for the kids at home before I bid my hubby goodbye. 

Been a while

It has been a while since we went to a movie. Since we installed a TVBox at home, we hardly catch a movie in cinema.

However last Saturday, we went for one. A little family time doing the thing we used to enjoy. We usually go to TGV in Vivacity for movie but the tickets were sold out. We wanted to watch Maleficent. Since TGV was booked, we decided to try MBO, The Spring. Luckily still have some seats left so we pre-purchased the tickets online that morning. A nice story and happy ending, but I prefer the first movie more. 

Anyway, after we finished the movie which was before 5pm, we settled our dinner and filled up our tummies in The Spring food court. Maybe it was still early in the evening so the food court wasn't packed. 

We ordered our own food. The kids had the broasted chicken set from Sugarbun. Hubby settled for his usual beef noodle. I was the last one to go around the food court and scout for food.

Finally I settled for the Indonesian stall. Previously I tried its nasi bebek and I quite enjoyed the dish. Told myself I would be back to try other dishes out. So, this round I went for its nasi ayam geplek kuning.

RM12.90 for this rice dish. Served on a brown paper on top of a basket. 

The chicken was moist and tasty. The yellow rice was soft and slightly fragrant. I liked its sambal dipping. Not too spicy but good enough to go around. 

A week later

A new cafe opened not long ago. Y. Y. Cafe. It was packed on the first day when it opened. 'New toilet' as we called it, and people always curious to try the new toilet. 

We went over a week later for breakfast. It was not so packed then so we decided to visit the new cafe. 

The nasi lemak stall happened to be operated by a mother of Jan's primary school classmate. It so happened I wanted to try her nasi lemak before saw her at the stall. So I showed a little support to her by ordering her nasi lemak. A normal nasi lemak for RM2.50.

Hubby went for the Sarawak laksa but it did not looked like Sarawak laksa at all. Full of coconut milk, lack of the spice and flavour. RM6 for his normal bowl of laksa. 

We waited quite a while for the kids' kolo mee. Kolo mee business was good as I saw most tables ordered that. RM3.50 per bowl. I didn't take shot of the kolo mee as kids were hungry and couldn't wait to dig in. 

The prices of the drinks were reasonable. And a new hang out place for those going to the Level Up gym which located above tge cafe. 

Backlane

You would not know that you could find nice food at the backlane of shops till someone brings you there. 

It was the case when my man brought me to this night hawker in Poh Kwong Park area one evening. Actually someone brought him over beforehand and then he brought me there another night. 

This one hawker stall only opens at night, and it is located at the backlane carpark space of the old Poh Kwong Park shoplot. 

A bowl of kueh chap for RM7. Tastewise it was flavourful. Not overwhelming but just alright for me.

Last week

Hubby's car broke down when he went to his fishing trip in Sematan early this month. Now the car has been towed back and still in the workshop waiting for part to arrive and get fixed. 

So he has been without car since last week. I become his driver for over a week now. Dropped by Jamie in kindergarden and then send him to his office. Some day I would joined him for a breakfast if we were early. 

For instance on one fine day last week, we had our breakfast in Blossom Cafe. As usual the place was packed with working class people having their breakfast before off to work.

I tried its Sarawak laksa for the first time. RM6 for my normal bowl. 

It was alright, not overly strong in spices and flavour. I prefer the previous operator's Sarawak laksa but they stopped operating for few years now. The kolo mee lady took over the laksa stall now.

If I am to choose, I would go for their laksa than kolo mee. Their noodle is so-so and rather pricey. RM4 to RM5 per bowl.

In the evening my man would get someone to send him home. No need to worry about picking hum up from work as his working hour is unpredictable. Some night he would get a Grab car to send him home. 

Never been here

I had never been to this coffee shop before although I had visited the other coffee shop for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Stapok Seafood Restaurant, heard of good review on its char chu. One morning, hubby and I dropped by to give this place a try. And we met our couple friends there for breakfast after dropping off our kids in the same kindergarden.

I had my usual morning drink, teh c. Loved that they served in the old cup and saucer. 

I meant to try the Malay stall as I read that their mee kari with cucur was nice and highly recommended. But it was not opened when we were there. So I had to settle for other from another stall. 

Hubby settled for the kampua. He requested the soy sauce. RM3.50 per plate. It was nice, according to him. 

Yours truly went for pork porridge. RM4 I think, I can't remember the exact price for the porridge. 

A nice meet up with our friends over breakfast there before we went our seperate way.
