Big salted fish

This is the biggest piece of salted fish I ever have in my pantry.

Hubby bought this salted fish (believed that it is a semah, one of the luxurious and pricey freshwater fish from Rejang River) from Lachau village while on the way back last weekend.

He requested me to cook it so on one evening, I cut a chunk and fry it.

I removed the scale so it would be easier to cut. And here I went, frying the fish in hot oil.

Yummy looking right??

It is going to take us a long long time to finish the whole fish.

I don't really fancy harm yue, but if you put some in my fried rice, I might finish the whole plate, haha.. But yes, it's very fragrant if we stir-fry with vegetables and fried rice..

I have only seen dried salted fish so far. Never a salted fish that is wet like this. Is it very salty your wet salty fish?

I dont think I have eaten salted fish for a very long time now. It would be nice to have some to go with my claypot chicken rice.

To me, salted fish has always been those dry types. I have never seen wet type like this. This is new to me :)

Yeah, it looks good! Oh, I know semah, it's a popular fish in Kapit too. Not cheap even there, had it for lunch and dinner and it was about the same price as Sibu.

Wow...this salted fish is very different kind of species from what I normally see. The scale looks very big.
