Want to peek at what we did today?

It is a quiet Saturday since hubby is on a day trip to KL.

After sent him off to airport in the morning, I stay at home with the kids as Jan needs to study for her exam next week. 

For lunch, I had this pizza take-away from Pizza Hut. Their new square pan pizza promotion. Pepperoni Perfetto is our latest favourite.

Jay has improved in his spelling, I am proud to say. Although his writing is less desirable but I am happy that he shows more enthusiasm in learning. Of course with some appropriate rewards, he scores well in his weekly spelling.

So today like any other days spent on teaching him spelling in all 3 languages. Oh boy! I am as stressed as he is, in learning languages.

Of course, all day's work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! There was time when the kids get to play and have a little fun today.

And in the evening we went for a stroll in the park before we went for dinner at my parents' house. Everyone was sweaty after the little work out.

And gung gung was so good to treat the kids to ice cream.

Alright, time to log off. It is bed time. I am actually drafting this post while waiting for my hubby. Watching tv at the same time.

Kids have gone to dreamland more than an hour ago. Hubby came back a while ago, so I guess everyone would be waking up pretty late tomorrow.

My kind of brunch

It is Friday again! Yay!

I cooked myself a yummilicious brunch after the house is quiet and Jamie minding his own business in the living room.

Hope I did not tempting anyone over here. ^^

I have buttered toasts, leftover sherperd's pie, bacons, fried egg and steamed corn.

And I need something to cool myself down too. Very warm day today.

Love this chilling root beer. Glad we found this gassy gem in a nearby hypermarket. 

I like the way they bottled the drink in the cute glass bottle and the pull up lid when you can close again effortlessly if you cannot finish the whole bottle.

Happy weekend guys! Don't think I would be doing much this weekend as my girl's school exam is just around the corner. 

Nevertheless, I am sure my 3 rascals will keep me busy as usual. Weekend is busier than normal when 3 of them are at home.

The golden arch

They said you could find the best Sarawak laksa here. Golden Arch Cafe, 3rd Miles Kuching.

I were craving for laksa this morning so I "pujuk" (persuade) my hubby to bring me here for laksa. It has been ages since I stepped to this old shop and had its laksa. Could not remember how it tasted like. Lol.

The place is still the same. Not much changes except there is a new dim sum stall called Xin Kung Fu. We ordered 2 steamers to try since Jamie would not be able to eat laksa.

Siu mai and small paus that cost RM10.20 in total. Nothing come cheap now. Lol.

Now, here come our special bowl of laksa!! I know they said it is good but some how, I thought it was just okay this morning. Nothing to shout about. Not that spicy and fragrant enough for me. Hmm. Or maybe my expectation is too high?? ^^

Some said the laksa at another cafe (behind Golden Arch Cafe) is as good as here. We did smell the fragrant laksa paste when we walked over. Told hubby it smell nicer than this Golden Arch. Maybe we will try it some day.

Fish head noodle

One morning, we ventured to Stutong for breakfast. I felt it was pretty far, about 25-30 minutes drive from our place. Last time when we stayed in BDC which is just few minutes drive, we seldom go to this area for food. 

There is this middle coffee shop (behind OneTJ) that serve nice fish head soup and handmade noodle.

The noodle and fish head soup were nice but I personally prefer something flavourful and sourish for my fish head. Like those in fish head mihun.

Chilli sauce

The chilli sauce was good; spicy with a twist of lime zest to it. Great dipping.

The name of the coffee shop. Yu Zhi Xiang Fish Noodle. Each bowl costs RM7.50. Reasonable considering it is fish and with GST charge.

Happy day to me

Being a mother is the toughest job in the universe! No pay, no rest, on stand by 24-hours, no sick leave, a job that no one can take it for granted and it is a permanent job once you apply for it till your last breath!

With my firstborn

I have been a mother for 9 years now and every bitter sweet of motherhood is a lifetime experience that money can't buy. So it is not really a "job" in that pretext but something you choose to be. Raising someone you opted to bring to this world is a privilege, and calling it something else is ignorant and condescending.

Today, like any other days because I still tend to their needs and getting the house running. But I get some surprise elements and more hugs and kisses than usual from my family. They appreciate what I do for them and on this day, they make me feel special. It makes all the sacrifices and sweats more worthy.

And I have being a full time stay-at-home-mum for more than 2 years now. A great achievement for me, but believe me, some day I wish for a different scenario. Have a career, earn own money and pay for someone to look after the kids. But I have no regret with my decision to be a SAHM. It makes me stronger beyond my imagination and I grow closer with my children than before.

This morning before church, we drove to the Reservior Park (Taman Budaya) for a walk. The kids were happy. Well, Mother's Day isn't just about me (mum). The kids are a big part of me; without them, there would not be any Mother's Day for me. They enjoyed the short walk and sun.  And what matters the most is that they are happy. They are happy and I am happy too.

This evening, my hubby took charge of the kitchen and cooked us dinner.

At least he did the cleaning and dishes too so I basically just sit down and relax (although it was hard on my part as I cannot stand him taking charge of my territory for few hours! Lol!)

Did I receive any gift today? You bet. Another perfume from dearest to add to my fragrance collection.

And Jay gave me his school's craft too few days ago.

This morning my girl presented me her hand-made card and wrote a poem and song for me.

My Pinoy food galore

I am blessed to have an early Mother's Day dinner in this Filipino restaurant in Jalan Padungan last Friday evening, thanks to my dearest hubby.

He also invited my parents, sis, bro and sil for the dinner. We made a table reservation as worry of crowd but luckily it was not packed that evening.

My first time there and I bumped into the owner, who happen to be an uncle of my friend. We chatted for quite a while and then place our order from him.

The menu is mostly in Filipino so we leave it to the owner to recommend us his good dishes.

Pinoy Fiesta is the first and only Filipino restaurant around here. I am sure all Pinoy will feel at home here as most staff are from Philippines since the co-owner herself is a Pinoy, married to this uncle of my friend.

Setting was nothing impressive but I like the wall pictures especially this one. Roasted pig! ^^

It was not brightly lighted so you could see my photos are pretty yellowish. 

I tried its avocado milk drink and I really enjoyed it. Delectably smooth and creamy.

Our first dish was this tasty eggplant omelette. You can choose either you want to go for steamed rice or garlic rice but everyone opted for the former one.

Some day I would try hand on cooking this eggplant omelette. It shouldn't be hard.

We also have this fried quail. It has been ages since I tasted my beloved fried quail. The quails were delicious and they were not too hard. And I loved the spicy sambal dipping that they served here.

One thing about Filipino cuisine I learnt was they enjoy their dishes to be sweet and creamy with coconut milk.

This pumpkin special was sweet and rich. It is pumpkin and prawns cooked in creamy coconut milk. An awesome dish because personally, I love pumpkins.

Another sweet and creamy dish is this pineapple chicken. Quite appetizing too but I prefer the pumpkin special more.

Their pork satay is another recommendation in the menu. Very chunky, soft, juicy and again, flavourful with its sweet sauce.

And just when we thought we have enough, the dish that we were eagerly waiting for that night! Got to be this crispy pata. Cannot come here and do not taste this tasty and crispy pork trotter, right?

It was well seasoned but certain part was hard. I enjoyed those fatty part more. Softer.

Last but not least was this ulam. What to say about vegetables? Healthy and raw, I think. Hubby loved it every bits with its sambal dipping.

Overall, you can say that we had a spectacular feast and everyone enjoyed it very much and full to the max! The services were fast as we were the 2nd table. By the time we finished our food, the restaurant was packed with patrons.

Total damages? Around RM215 plus drink. Thanks hubby for the wonderful dinner.

Mother's Day is 2 days away.  Have  you planned your dinner or do anything special that day? I am not sure the plan but I heard whispering among the daddy and kids. Maybe some surprises I am going to find out that day.
