We stopped by here for lunch before we went to Hills Shopping Mall for the book fair.
Hock King Cafe (next to Mita Cake House) in Ban Hock Road. It has been ages since we went here for its chicken rice. I used to patronize this place when I worked in the city centre many years ago.
We ordered half chicken with mix of steamed and roasted chicken (RM17) and a plate of deep fried bean curds.
The steamed chicken was as good as ever. Moist and soft. I never like roasted chicken as it tends to be drier.
The toufu was nice with a hint of spicy and sweet drizzle.
My man commented his rice wasn't cooked well but I thought mine was just fine. But lack of fragrance and that fluffiness that a good chicken rice should have. At least the chicken dipping was nice so not much complaint from me there.

Looks good! Now I am craving for chicken rice :)
Never heard of this place. Rice not well cooked, not fragrant. Hmmm...can give it a miss then.
The colour of the plate of chicken looks appetizing. Sometimes one huge rice pot could produce uneven cooked rice due to the timing.
Sometimes the rice at the edge of the pot tends to be not cooked so well. Perhaps your husband's rice is like that.
The chicken looks smooth and soft... Looks good to me here!
Always fancy chicken rice stalls that sell fried beancurd too! xoxo
Now I feel like having chicken rice, hehe...
The chicken looks nice and delicious but the rice seems to be too plain. I prefer those a bit yellowish
I'm similar as you, prefers steamed chicken to roasted chicken. I love how moist and 'clean' it is compared to roasted ones.
The steamed chicken does look moist.
Thinking of chicken rice now!
The deep fried beancurd looks good, same as you, I also prefer steam chicken to roasted chicken, now I am craving for a good chicken rice
