This is a place that you would least expect nice and reasonably priced food. After all, I would not be going there if not for my sil who brought me to check it out the other night.
I wonder if it is opened by the next door hotel, Phoenix Hotel and this no-name cafe is not easily missed with its spotlights blinking away. The walkway between HSBC building and this row of shops is been used as an open air seating area. Luckily no trees around otherwise we would be worried about birds flying and dropping "bombs" over us!
The night was cooling and windy. And they have a big tv to entertain the patrons. Surprisingly it was lighted well so we could see what we were putting into our mouths. Lol!
Long time I did not have ABC so I ordered this icy dessert that night. Look at the colours! Lovely but scary at the same time! Never mind, I do not have it all the time.
We ordered few dishes to share. That way we got to eat and taste more. After all, it is more fun to share food, don't you agree?
Satay! Malaysia's best street food. This was actually my boy's request and he finished all the chicken skewers by himself. RM0.50 per skewer. Only beef and chicken available that night. Pity they do not serve ketupat. I thought the meat was alright but the peanut sauce was so-so. My sil thought the peanut sauce was nice as full of crushed nuts.
My girl's fish and chip looked rather bland. Cannot expect nice Western food here. Only RM8.90 for this plate.
Okay, I have to admit that I am never tired of lamb but at RM11.90, this lamb chop was okay. Cannot complain much on this.
My BIL had this pork intestine soup with rice set for RM8. The soup was very peppery and good for warming the body on a cooling night. Sorry, I did not taste the chitterlings as I am not fond of innards but I did take a sip of the peppery soup.
Now, this dish fits me. We had this dry bak kut teh for sharing. I like spicy bak kut teh. Very good I thought to myself. Meat was tender and gravy was spicy.
Finally this was what we came here for. I found this famous Kuching-style o-chien (oyster pancake) here!! RM15 only for this XL-sized pancake. It was good. The pancake was still crispy even when it has cooled down. I like this crispier version more than wet type which can be goo-ey and chewy after it cools down. If only they add more oysters to it and not stingy with the dipping.
A good place for dinner or supper. I don't mind coming here again.
