Goodbye

It is the last day of 2010, and tomorrow marks a new year. It has been a fruitful 2010, with me achieving some of my goals. Hopefully more will come next year.

How we are going to celebrate tonight? I do not think it will be much celebration, just a lovely dinner with my family. We discovered Baby boy developed chicken pox last night so at doctor's advice, we will try to avoid public places. Luckily he is not having any fever and still much an active boy. After all, we have spent great times during Christmas Day. We had nice Italian dinner on Christmas Eve and on Christmas night itself we have Japanese dinner.....so New Year Eve would be a modest affair for us.

Rest at home

Dad has finally checked out from hospital on Friday afternoon. Doctor gave him medication for his condition. He is diagnosed with a small growth in his neck near the lympha node. That thinggie (which doctor will monitor from month to month during his monthly check-up) has caused my dad's hormone to increase to 300 plus (which is not so good) and his loss of appetite and sometimes having fever and dizziness.

So now dad is recovering at home as he could not do much. Walk for a short distance, he will complain dizziness. Sit for a while, he will complain his stomach not feeling well. He has lost 5kg since November as he did not eat much due to stomach discomfort. Just hope that he will get well and that benign is nothing but non cancerous.

What a week!

Sorry for not much updating lately. Have been nothing but emotional exhausted and physically busy.

This week is a very hectic week. Flying out and in, spending a night in KL and dad admitted to hospital on the day I flew was enough to make me feel down.

On Sunday evening, I broke one of my teeth while eating chicken rice in Hainan's Street! S**t! I haven't got time to fix it yet. So everytime I drink water (cold, hot or lukewarm) I can feel the pain in that particular tooth. Hope to be able to visit a dentist tomorrow once everything is settled down.

On Monday, I went to KL accompany hubby's cousin for an interview there. We stayed for a night. Luckily no delay in Air Asia flight. We reached the LCCT around 7.15pm. Throughout the flight, it has never been bored as cousin and I chatted all the way. We did not feel how the time flies that fast. Then we used the bus down to KL Sentral and taxi to our hotel. We reached the hotel around 9pm and after throwing our luggage, we headed straight to Jalan Alor for our dinner. Phew! I even bought some bbq bacon slices from Loong Kee for hubby.

The next day, after cousin's interview finished around 1115am, we headed to Sungei Wang via LRT and spent almost 2 hours there before we headed to LCCT for our flight back. I did not spent much but bought 2 dresses there. Since hubby bought lots of clothing for the kids when he went to Johor last month I did not buy anything for the kids.

As for yesterday, after a busy morning at the shop, I visited my dad who admitted to Normah Hospital since Monday. Doctor could not find anything wrong with my dad who complained of dizziness and loss of appetite since he came back from his Indonesia trip last month. He lost so much weight since then but thank god he started to eat solid food for past few days. There is still no green light from doctor on when he could check out as doctor wanted him to stay for further observation. Luckily he can claim his insurance for the stay-in. As for my mum, she is supposed to fly to Singapore with my sister to attend my cousin's wedding tomorrow. By right, she would be there by this time, but alas! She has to stay to look after my dad. Hopefully he will be able to check out by this week.

So what a week I have! And next week would be another busy week as it is my stock check week. I think I have to put up a tent in the shop and stay to do the stock check! Lol!

Christmas mood

Christmas is coming soon. Everywhere is decorated with beautiful garlands, wreaths and Christmas trees and Christmas songs are played. Don't you like December?

I love December because it is the last month of the year and it is the most festive month of all months. Started with school holiday, then Christmas and New Year. Not to mention the famous Year End Sales with a lot of bargains and offer from the shops. It also means time to gather around family and friends. Usually we will have dinner at our usual cafe on the Chrismas and New Year eves, but have yet to decide where to celebrate this year.

Have you put up your Christmas tree? There would not be any tree for us this year. Too lazy and no time to put it up.....Lol!

3 years of my thoughts

November 30 2007. That was the day that everything started here. 3 years have gone and I have been through the ups and downs as a blogger and a person. I cannot believe that I have gone this far.

I have followed food blogs for a year before starting my own blog. It was hard to decide what for my blog, but end up a chuck of everything in one blog. I thought that I should have a place to store my thoughts, update on my life and create a space for my children to read when they are older.

The first time I blogged, I was blogging about my little gal. That time she was a year plus, but now she is 4 years old plus. Now I am a mother of two adorable children. Last time I was working in my first and the longest employment as a marketing personnel. Now I am an entrepreneur and doing MLM. Life has indeed changed since then. There is no turning back for me, but I am happy with what I have and achieved so far. Hopefully more to come.

Along the way, I met many nice and wonderful bloggers. They inspire me one way or another with their postings. Although we never meet, but almost every day we will visit each other blog and make comments. The thought of leaving comments make one feel appreciated because it takes time for people to read your post and write comments in the comment box. So there are true friends that you can meet in the blogging world. I know I did!

Never thought of making money out of blog; although I did have some in my Paypal account. Lol! What is interesting about blogging is that it is your personal blog, you can write what ever you want to and should not be judgemental about what I write. All are my personal opinions and what interested me in my daily life.

I still love to write in my blog. I shall continue to do so and hopefully more will come along the way......Happy blogging everyone.

The mood of holiday

People start to talk about Christmas shopping and I read in today newspaper that clothing prices going to be marked up next month due to insufficient supply of cotton. So guys, this month would be a good time to shop may it be for Christmas, New Year or Chinese New Year.

Over here some of the CD shops playing Christmas songs and once a while I would hear CNY songs play! Lol! I haven't start my shopping yet, anyway nothing much to shop. My little girl will be going back to hometown next week. Without her, we would not in that mood to put out the Christmas tree and shopping for present. However maybe will shop for her new shoes when she is back after Christmas next month. Have you started your shopping spree?

It is time to give back to the children in need too. In my previous employment, I would give away some present for the Love-In-A-Box organised by SEDC, but since left the company I would directly go to the Salvation Army. So it is time to clean up my children's wardrobe for old stuff. Hmm.....

No vacations

School holiday is just around the corner. And it means my little girl will be away for almost a month to be with her grandparents. The other day while chatting with my MIL, she reminded me again on my girl's holiday. I normally pack her stuff on the night before, so no hurry there. My MIL even joked about bringing Baby Jay home but since either me or hubby not tagging along, she is worry Baby Jay will be homesick. Since he was born, he has never been away from home, so it is not a good risk to take.

It has been more than a year since hubby and myself went back to his hometown. Now with my business and him just started working in new company, it is hard for us to take vacation. Suppose to visit Singapore end of the year to attend a cousin's wedding but we cannot make it. How I wish that we can take some times off, maybe next year for a family vacation. Hmm, need to think of a way.

Weekend Menu #10: From Indonesia

A quick post on food. Hubby came back from Indonesia yesterday afternoon and as usual, he never missed out on buying souvenir or gifts back. His first trip to Potianak.

Aloe Vera dodol. Very cute. Reminded me of our Malaysian Durian Dodol
Too sweet for me!
This is my type! Yummy sticks!
We went to Kwali for a late lunch since hubby was hungry after landed in Kuching. As usual, his order was ulam and nasi lemak special.

As for me, I tried its chicken chop. The portion is just nice but slightly expensive for me. Around RM12.00 per plate.

Flying fish

On my way home this evening............Must be some enthusiastic kiters who put so much effort in their kites. They always attract onlookers and some even stop and park at the side to have good look at the kites.

There you are. One of the two flying fishes in the sky.

Long hiatus

Sorry for the long absent. I have been going around other blogs to read and make comments, but too lazy to post in my blogs. My time is feed up with nothing but things. Busy with everything from family to business. Hubby started his first day at work in bank yesterday. So the "picking kids from nanny" job is back to my responsibility.

The weather has been very wet lately. So I seldom do the laundry at home, sending my dirty laundry to laundry centre for washing. Even the centre taukeynio recognised and know my laundry well. Lol! Wait till I get my new house and have a dryer.

Talking about my new house, hubby said the contractors may start some extension work this month. Maybe not in time to move in before Chinese New Year as we have yet hunt for furniture etc. So we shall take our times on moving in.

On my business, it has been both rewarding and stressful. Rewarding because I can see slowly my customers are building and so is my personal network. At the end of the day, network is the ultimate objective. Slowly my network is building and I earn little from there, but expecting to see more next year. Stress? Like every business, there are up and downs and not every day is a sunshine day. With targets to hit, it is a challenging day every day.

As for my kids, both are doing fine. My Baby Jay is getting restless and naugthier than ever; he cannot keep still for a minute. So everytime I bring both kids to shop, my things sure go messy. Luckily I have my staff to mend the kids in shop, otherwise I could not do much there.

So if you do not see me around that often, you know that my time is used up on other important matters. *wink*

Almost toward the end

I could not believe it!

Hubby was telling me the other day that this year only left slightly more than 2 months! Wow! I could not believe my ears when I heard it. How time flies. There were so many things happen this year, that I did not have much times to breathe and relax. Lol!

First is my business. It has been 5 months since I operate my shop. Everything is on track, and slowly I can see my network is building too. It takes years to see the passive incomes that is substantial for me. Lol!

Anyway I am looking forward to the remaining 2 months of the year. Why not? A lot of festival and special events happening, such as hubby's birthday in November. And it reminded me to get him a belt since he has been complaining and hinting that he needs a new belt. And school holiday is around the corner too. Even my girl is reminding me of her school holiday because she is going back to hometown during the holiday. I wonder whether she would be celebrating Christmas in Kuching or not this year, but nevertheless I shall stand-by her present.

When it comes to a year end, you will start to think back what you have done and what you are going to achieve in the new year. Yes. Time to set your resolution. But it is pretty hard to achieve what you want to achieve, right? I learnt my lesson from past years that never to set high resolution for myself if I never really think on how to achieve it in first place. So a moderate resolution would do. Hmm, have not really thought of what I want to achieve next year. How about you? Have you think and plan about it yet?

Try catering

For the past week, we have been taking food from caterer. We have a recommendation from a friend on this caterer, Mrs V so we decided to give her a try for a month. RM320 per month on Monday to Saturday (except PH) for 3 dishes and a soup for dinner. So far the dishes are okay; she does not stick to same dishes.

It is much easier for us now. We do not need to worry on what and where to eat. Even with the food court and nearby SCR, we are bored of the food now. It is more economical to have food catering too. Now hubby is taking the food with us since my 2 lady staff are not that big eaters. *wink*

Ranting on a Sunday

First, not many customers today. Probably it is the middle of the month thinggie, so I accompanied my sister for a hair treatment this afternoon. She did her digital perming, and damages done was RM140.00. Actually I just came back from a near by hair salon. RM80.00 for a 4-steps treatment. If I am not mistaking, the girl said it consists of shampooing, treatment for follicles, then treatment for protein and lastly steaming and shampooing.

I will go there again since they have manicure and pedicure. Since middle of this year, I have not have time for myself, not to say pampering myself. So I will visit the salon for its manicure other day. There are 3 salons around within and outside the shopping mall. I visited one 2 months ago. Sh*t! After that visit, I never visited it again. Why? Because they smoked. Yes, you heard me right? They smoke in the shopping mall, and sometimes in their salon. I went there for hair wash and my! My hair smell of cigarette because the guy that did it for me was smoking before taking over from a lady. I wonder why the management did not bother on those smokers as it is an air-conditioned building. I even heard some of my customers and other tenants commented on their smoking habit.

Second, I am addicted to my new Blackberry Curve. Hubby is activate the Blackberry messenger so he and I can text each other for free. If I am outside, then I can check my email and Facebook via the phone. So convenient. And hubby has a good laugh when I told him that just after a week, I am not used to the cursor of his Sony Ericsson phone. Lol! I still love Sony Ericsson because of its cybershot camera, but function-wise, I found out that Blackberry has so many great functions. No wonder I have so many friends now subscribed to Blackberry.

Okay, enough ranting from me. Now I am waiting for hubby and the kids. My girl hs been nagging us to bring her for a swim in our club house swimming pool, so as promise, we shall bring her and baby over. But I am not going into the pool, because I just have my hair done! *wink*

Beauty case for eyes and cheeks

I simply love this beauty case from LelanVital. The colours are very trendy and versatile that I can mix and match them for stunning effect.

Its 4 matte colours, 2 shimmery colours and 14 pearly colours makes a perfect gift or present for birthday or Christmas.

I tried it out last week, want to see whether it lasting or not. I have oily face so usually my eyeshadows do not last long at end of the day. Before I put on the eyeshadows, as usual I applied some foundation and concealer. The colours last longer than other eyeshadow I used before.

It is so easy to apply, even with its own brush or using my finger tip. I am happy with the colours; it is slightly better than other eyeshadow brand that I have used.

Weekend Menu #9

It has been long since I posted food pictures. So here are my random pictures of food that I had over the weekend to share with you. Pictures taken using my Blackberry. Not so sharp but good enough for me. *wink*

17th mile's famous vegetable kueh brought by my friend. What I had for tea break yesterday....A bit oily on the skin but the vegetable and water chestnut kueh are yummy

The famous Sarawak cangkuk manis cooked with egg
Claypot dinner comprising of stewed mutton and braised pork legs from a claypot stall in Number 6 Kopitiam, Jln Song. They become our favourite dishes, and without fail we always order the same dishes. It is not that the other dishes not nice, but we are addicted to these two!

My mom's bubur cha cha. This Nyonya dessert has always been my favourite since young. I love more sago in my bubur chacha and the sweetness of sweet potatoes.

Here I am again

Happy 10/10/10. Once in a lifetime date. And that is why you see me around that early....All I want to do is to tug in my bed, do nothing, sleep, play pc games, facebook and blog hopping. Yeah, yeah! As if!!

It would be easier if my children do not disturb me, and if they would not jumping in the bed, messing the room, making so much noise, and making their mummy running up and down like "chicken without head". Sigh!!

I know it is a Sunday, but for a working mum like me, every day is a working day!! Opening shop at 10am, closing shop at 10pm and every night coming back like dead meat. Fortunately I have hubby to help me so we take shift to close shop. At least I have some times for my 2 kids. So, what the difference does a Sunday make you may ask me?

The worst thing you could do is NOTHING.....Sigh! If it is that easy to do than say. Time to get down to business. I know the day is still early, but what an early bird gets?? Worm! As for me, house chore and then money, money, money when I open up my shop. Lol! That is me, ranting on a Sunday. Happy Sunday, everyone!

Rose's 1st blackberry

Remember I told you that I did a shopping last month? Not on clothing, but on accessories. A new Blackberry. Actually my very 1st Blackberry Curve.

Am still getting used to this little toy. Hubby and I got them yesterday, his is black while mine is white so we do not mix up. We basically just sign up with the BB Fan Club under Maxis Plan, so every month I just need to pay around RM150.00 for my calls and the phone.

Kids' dietary supplements

When it comes to children, as a parent, you always want the best for them. You trying your best to provide the best food, clothing and stuff for them. So no wonder the children nowadays are spoilt and pampered. But if you do not pamper them with good things, then who should you pamper with, right? I guess like every parents, we always worry when our kids fall sick. Nothing is easy when you have a sick kids. So either way or another you will tend to give supplements to your kids.

Since my little gal is around 1 year old, I have let her take Scott Emulsion to strengthen her immune system. Once she started school at age of 3, I introduce her to multi-vitamin. You know how kids are once they are schooling. They catch viruses easily. So my little gal also have her share of sickness but usually is simple cough or flu.

She always love this Hi-C Fruit Chewies from Cosway. It consists of 100 chewable 6 delicious fruity flavours. Every day she would take 2 chewies without me nagging her to do so. Sometimes I ever have to control her intake, worry overdose of Vitamin C! Lol! And not only my little gal, even my Baby Jay started to take it few months ago. But of course I have to give him smaller portion, because worry he will simply swallow and choke on it. That boy of mine is like a "gold fish"; he simply eat everything that we feed him! And when ever he sees food, he will say "nen nen", or if we do not let him and we eat ourselves, he will scratch or even attack your mouth. That boy of mine!

I also let my girl take Chlorella and Spirulina; starting this year. One tablet per day. She just love to bite on them because she thrills at the thought of them making her tongue turns green. Lol!

Well, at least both of my kids would not be lacked of supplements. Why not? Because their mum is a Cosway stokist! *wink*

(This is not a paid post. I write this to share with you)

Still at the shop at this hour

It has been a week since my last post. Busy and sick.

Busy with the kids since nanny is on leave and sick; down with fever and sore throat. Gosh! Everything comes at the same time. For the past 4 days I have been taking my afternoon nap at home with the kids. I do not have the energy to think about anything but sleep. Probably the medicine is the culprit too. Sigh!

Today is the month end, so a lot of reports to be printed out. And some mails and update to be done. Yes! I am still at the shop. Hubby is at home with 2 kids and I hope by the time I reach home, both kids are asleep. And I can take my sleep too.

Tomorrow is another new month! Hopefully a better month too.

Have you met this little fella before?

When the first time I saw him, I have to see twice to make sure my vision did not deceive me. I thought what a weird creature (and scary too). Must be some kind of poisonous frog.

Wonder where are his other friends?

Cakes, lanterns and the moon

After reading Small Kucing's blog yesterday on Oyster King, I could not resist the temptation to taste oysters. Slurp! I love oysters, either fresh or made into oyster pancakes. Kuching's oyster pancakes are usually made dry, in crispy pancakes.

We had our dinner in Peach Garden, Jalan Song last night. And of course we ordered the Oyster Pancake, which is RM8.00. But big serving although not many oysters on it. Nevertheless for time being, it satisfy my craving.

If you noticed a chunk has been eaten. Cannot resist but still remember to take photo before it all gone! :p

Today is the Mid Autumn festival. How time flies. Mid Autmn celebration is equally big as Chinese New Year, although it is not declared a holiday in Malaysia. Have you eaten your mooncakes yet? Or leave it for tonight, a special night for every Chinese around the world. Although there is no autumn (or 4 seasons) in Malaysia, nevertheless we still celebrate the autumn blessing with the traditional dinner with family and then enjoying the sight of full moon with Chinese tea and mooncakes. The children will lit up and show off their beautiful lanterns. There tend to have few burnt paper lanterns.

We have bought some lanterns for little gal to play with tonight. I still like the old fashioned paper lantern. Look more authentic than the music-and-battery-operated lanterns.

As for mooncakes, nothing to look forward to because I have been selling and eating mooncakes for a month. Why not? I gave away free testing of mooncakes to customers in the shop and I tested them myself. When I have a craving, I will nib on some of them sometimes. Lol! Only this year I started to try new flavours of mooncakes, the Shanghai Single Yolk, Mix Fruits and Nuts, and Sweet Corn. Nevertheless I still love the Pure Lotus, White Lotus and Snowskin Mooncakes but I have not tasted snowskin this year. You may agree with me, the mooncakes now cost a lot. 1 mooncake can buy you a bowl of kolo mee and a hot tea in coffee shop. Gosh!

So, any dinner and mooncake feast tonight? Probably we will have dinner at my parents' house. It has been a while I did not visit them so it is good reason to gather around and chat tonight and let my girl have a lantern walk around the big compound. *wink* And meantime, enjoy this mooncake bought by my Indonesian maid from Singkawang.

Happy Mid Autumn and Happy Mooncake Festival, everyone!

No pets allowed

I love going to one of the coffee shops in Green Heights. Not only because of the food and nice Sarawak 3-layer tea or its cleanliness, but I go because of its "no pets" policy. So far I have never see any coffee shops in Kuching that put up a "No pets" sign in their shops and disallow customers bringing in their dogs or cats with them. My personal opinion is that it is not only unhygienic but a nuisance to other customers.

Imagine yourself in a coffee shop where you may spot one or two stray dogs (or shop owner's dog) going around every table begging for food! I encountered one incident where a stray dog was barking and preying at my mee sua the whole time I was eating in a coffee shop in Hui Sing. From there onward I never gone there for mee suah. The dog is still there because I saw it when I went over last weekend, but I had laksa so the dog did not come near my table. Lol!

So it just happened that I had breakfast with hubby in the morning in BDC area on Friday morning and a couple brought their cute terrier covered in shirt to the coffee shop. They were sitting next to our table. And my usually sweet hubby was almost having an outburst. He never likes the idea of having pets in an eatery, so he was critisizing the couples (quietly to me). He is calling me to eat faster, so we just have our quick breakfast and left the coffee shop with hubby still complaining about the dog. We are not blaming the dog, mind you.

I don't know about you; it is everyone freedom and right to bring their pets to where ever they want to, but the thought of eating and sharing seat with a pet is not my cup of tea.

Business assistant

Few days ago I went to visit my friend's shop in another shopping mall with my hubby. It just so happened that there was a meet-the-fans session. The crowds were crazy and we hardly could go through the stage to reach our friend's shop. If not for the velvet rope and barricades, we would not managed to squeeze ourselves through. The security guards were good in dealing with the crowd control.

When we reached our friend's shop we were surprised to see that he has just installed a new poster on the stanchions in front of his shop. A great way to utilise the shopfront and create publicity to his shop.

After visiting my friend, it makes me think of getting a new banner display for my new product promotions next month.

Have not been shopping

It is ironic but I have not been shopping around in the shopping mall where my shop is. Most of the outlets are open now, but I do not shop around. Not at all.

I used to love window shopping and whether I buy or not buy, window shopping makes me feel great. I don't know about you, but I like the feeling of browsing from one outlet to another. Now I know how it feels to be on the other side of the shoes as I am a shop operator! Lol! Customers are always right and nothing changes that fact. *wink*

Back to shopping, I used to love shopping for jewellery and fashion accessories, but now if I ever do any shopping, it would be for the children. Even the last time I went shopping (early August in KL) most of my stuff is for my children. The last purchase I ever made (also in KL) is a belt and a top. So you can say that I do not shop much nowadays like I used to be.

Since I started my business, I think I have lost some weights. Even my friends commented that I have slimmed down. *happy* I am thinking of buying new clothing especially dresses. Lately I have been browsing online shopping websites from my shop and love to check out on dresses. I have few dresses for special occasion but sorry to say, I do not have a black dress. I think black dress never gone out of fashion and fit for any occasion. So maybe I will treat myself to a nice black dress when I get my next cheque.

By the way, I have just make a new purchase (not clothing or anything alike) this morning. It was initially planned to be a trip to lawyer firm for some signing with hubby but after that, we dropped by Tun Jugah shopping mall to check out on something. It just felt weird to go back to the building where you have been for almost 9 years, but a lot of shops closed and new shops moved in. Everything looks different to me. Not much look familiar for me in there. I have mixed feeling of going back there; hard to explain to you. Anyway, both of us ended up with something. It is actually not a purchase, more of a subscription comes with a gift.....I am still waiting for the "gift" to come.....shall let you know what it is once I receive it. Lol!

No show

The new girl that hubby interviewed yesterday did not show up today. So I guess it means she did not take up the offer. Or probably she took another offer from other outlet. Not only my shop that have immediate vacancy around here. As I was strolling around the mall this morning, I noticed that few shops putting up vacancy notices in front of their shops.

Alas! Why it is so hard to get a loyal staff to work for you?

Saturday, September 11, 2010

New girl?

Hubby interviewed a young lady this morning for the post of sales promoter. After briefing her on the job responsibility, we decided to give her a try. A little quiet and does not have much experiences, not to mention touching the pc.

She will start her first day tomorrow. Just hope that she will come and not like the previous girl that I interviewed, who sms-ed me last minute telling me that she could not take my offer. Sigh! Very hard to find staff nowadays. Give me some headaches only.

On a good side, my little gal will be coming back from her holiday tonight. However the flight which is supposed to be departing from Sibu at 8pm now is been delayed to 930pm. So I will be seeing her after I closed shop tonight.....

Friday, September 10, 2010

Open as usual

It is holiday today. First day of Hari Raya, but I still have to open up my shop. Don't know how the crowd would be as the mall is relatively new; just opened early this year. Hopefully to see a lot of shoppers as it is going to be a long weekend.

My Malay staff suddenly resigned a week ago. She just sent me a SMS on the last hour; told me about her ailing grandparent in kampung on the pretext of resigning. However it turned out hoax. How I found out? Her father suddenly came to look for her few days later. And the poor father was surprised to hear that she has resigned and that was how I know. Anyway, that the end of her and I am still looking for another girl to work for me. For time being, I would have to be stucked in the shop till we find a new girl.

So anyone care to bring some lemang, curry, rendang and satay to share with me? It is better than eating economy rice here. Lol! Selamat Hari Raya and happy holiday.

Keeping it after all

First I were excited to own a house but when hubby mentioned on selling it off few months ago, I was a bit disappointed. After been struggling for few years on scouting, securing and paying for its house loan and when we finally have the keys, hubby suggested on selling it off.

I understand on his reasoning behind, but it was a great investment in first place. Initially a RM280K two years ago, now the value of our house (intermediate terrace, double storey, mind you?) reached more than RM380K. Isn't it a good reason to sell it off and probably settling some of our credit debts?

However since the operation of the shop and hubby's housing project is starting this month, we slowly have income coming in. So we are keeping the house for good. Over the weekend we brought the kids for a swim in its clubhouse's swimming pool. It was Baby Jay's first experience in the pool. From the look of it, I guess the kids will have great time utilise its swimming pool and maybe we will have to hunt for some furniture soon. Just don't know it would be in time to move in for next year's CNY.

Holiday

It is going to be school holiday soon and my little chatterbox is away for a week. Yes, little gal will be going back to her hometown with her grandma tomorrow morning. So she is having her holiday a day early.

As for myself, everything will goes as usual for business. No holiday. Last month was a great month for me as I managed to hit my targets. Yes! Happy. Business is booming as slowly people is coming to the shopping mall. Hari Raya is a week away, and customers are taking opportunity to shop around. My Malay staff will be taking a 3 days holiday, so it means I would have to be at the shop. When it comes to holiday, it would be busy time for us.

The kids' babysitter is taking a week off end of the month as she is going to Thailand for holiday. So hubby and I have to juggle between our times to take care of the two kids during the day.

Smile

It just make me smile. Not a birthday song or a birthday wish from my little gal, but a nice song from her. She has been crazy over Uncle Kracker's Smile song lately and I was surprised that she can remember most of the chorus part. So, on my birthday morning today, I requested a song from her.....

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night.

You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile.

(Lyrics from Uncle Kracker's Smile)

It just make me smile to hear her singing. Her songs are like sugar to my ears!! And when I commenting that she should sing more of those hit songs, she replied me with "Crazy mummy" and then went to sing her "Ten Little Indian" song. Lol!

Same old thing

Lately I have not done much posting in my blogs but I still have times to visit some friends' blogs, checking on what they have been doing and so.....It is the same for me; every day doing the same routine; busy with kids and shop. So nothing interested to post about.

My day always started off from 7am (if my baby does not wake me up earlier than that). Then started my journey on the road around 8am; sending kids off to school and baby sitter and then usually gone to the bank to deposit my sales and have breakfast. Now that I have my Indonesian worker with me, it would be me and her having breakfast and hubby usually can take his nap longer at home. Otherwise I would drag him out of the bed to accompany me for breakfast.

So the day goes on with me at the shop; and sometimes if not many customers I would take some hours off in the afternoon go home and do some chores. If weather permitted I would go for a swim with hubby. In the evening, hubby and myself would take turn to do the closing and look after the kids.

So this is my current life style........boring huh?? Anyway, Happy Weekend everyone!

Another week another ranting

Read the online newspaper this morning; and according to Meteorology Department, it is going to be a wet week ahead. So the prediction is quite correct as this morning it has been raining non stop. What a cold and lazy Monday to start with over here.

Irregardless of what the weather would be, I still need to open the shop and business is as usual. Everything is running smoothly in my shop. Both staff is able to operate on their own, so I can take some times off on weekday and Sunday to take care of my household chore and kids. Talking about kids, both kids are still recovering from running noses. Baby Jay is 1 year old yesterday, according to Chinese lunar calendar. His Chinese birthday falls on 6th of the 7th month, while mine is on 10th, which is few days apart. His English birthday is on 25th this month. Maybe a dinner to celebrate his 1 year old then.

As for my girl, hubby and myself have thought of enrolling little gal to music classes. Last night I asked my girl to choose between swimming and music; and she chosen music. She asked whether she can have dancing, but I told her that we prefer her to play musical instrument instead. There is a music centre near my shop, so I am thinking of putting her in piano class there. About RM50 for a once a week class per month. Maybe one day I will bring little gal to the centre and see how she thinks about it. *wink*

Back in the shop

Came back yesterday afternoon and nothing but heavy rain greeted me. However I am happy to be back as no place is better than home.

As for my KL trip, it was fun and tiring at the same time. I went to KL with a friend and met up with two other friends over there on Sunday afternoon. We spent our afternoon in KLCC. In the evening we have our dinner around 9something in Jalan Alor. The next day we have our seminar till 6pm. Again we window shopping in Times Square. Everywhere is sales as it is Mega Sales month now. However I did not buy much. Just 2 jackets for Baby Jay, and a pair of sandal and a top for myself. Lol!

Here I am, in my shop again. It was a busy morning today as I have my stocks coming in. Within a week, I have 3 stocks-in, so now my shop looks cramped and everywhere is boxes of goods. Cannot squeeze into the store room as it was full too. Hmm, wonder how to arrange all those boxes....Headache!

So KL, here I come!! And dear hubby? Please help me look after my shop for 2 nights. Thank you very much.

August is here

Yes, it is that time of the year again.

Birthdays and birthdays, a never ending list of birthdays fall this month. For example in my family I have 4 people celebrating their birthday this month.

First would be my SIL, followed by my MIL then myself. Lastly but not least the youngest member of the family, Baby Jay. His 1 year old birthday falls on 25th. We have yet to decide how to celebrate it, but probably something simple, like a dinner with my family and hubby's family.

So, I always love August. *wink*

A doctor to be

Just the other day I asked my 4 years-old girl about her ambition when she grows up. I know it sound ridiculous but I just want to ask her what would she wants to be when she grows up. And her answer?? A DOCTOR!

I believe like every other young children we would simply reply "Teacher". Yes. My ambition was to be a teacher when I was around 8 years old. I do not remember what I want to be when I was a 4 year old child. I was simply immature and young to think about that at such age.

So, a doctor is what my girl replied me. Probably she is fascinated by the white lab coats wore by doctors and nurses in Normah Hospital when I brought her and Baby Jay for vaccination the other day.

Hmm, a doctor does sound like a good profession to me. I do not mind to have a doctor in a family. If my girl ever becomes a doctor and opens her own clinic some day, I would like to advise her to design nicer medical uniforms. Make it more trendy instead of plain white like Kara Top. So, if my daugther ever realise her ambition, I will get her to purchase her uniforms from Nursing Uniforms as they have neat and trendy uniforms to choose from.

Watch your food

I know it is a Monday, but what a better way to kick off the remaining week with an interesting facts about your health on Monday? Everyone know (or should know) how and what should be done to have an optimum health but do you really follow/do it? So, just to remind you again on what you should and should not do and take. It is hard to follow, being a Malaysian, we love our food! hahaha!.....Happy Monday everyone! :)

CANCEROUS FOODS / PRODUCTS

INSTANT NOODLES
Dear instant noodle lovers,
Make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet! Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking.

If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.

Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together.

The hawker then 'lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti!

There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since died from it.

Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as ' cancer noodles '..

SATAY LOVERS (BARBECUE)
If you all eat Satay, don't ever forget to eat the cucumber, because eating Satay together with carbon after barbequing can cause cancer.
But we have a cure for that... Cucumber should be eaten after we eat the Satay because Satay has carcinogen (a cancer causing element) but cucumber is anti-carcinogenic. So don't forget to eat the cucumber the next time you have Satay's.

PRAWNS (SUGPO) & VIT C
DO NOT eat shrimp / prawn if you have just taken VITAMIN C pills!!
This will cause you to DIE in ARSENIC (As) toxication within HOURS!!

PORK AWARENESS
Try this and see whether the pork you bought has worms. There goes with your 'Bak Kut Teh' for those who love it. Most men love to eat this so watch out before it's too late. If you pours Coke (yes, the soda) on a slab of pork, wait a little while, you will SEE WORMS crawl out of it. A message from the Health Corporation of Singapore about the bad effects of pork consumption.. Pig's bodies contain MANY TOXINS, WORM and LATENT DISEASES.

Although some of these infestations are harboured in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far MORE PREDISPOSED to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because PIGS like to SCAVENGE and will eat ANY kind of food, INCLUDING dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta including their own, garbage, and other pigs. INFLUENZA (flu) is one of the MOST famous illnesses which pigs share with humans.. This illness is harboured in the LUNGS of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and human in the cooler months.

Sausage contains bits of pigs' lungs, so those who EAT pork sausage tend to SUFFER MORE during EPIDEMICS of INFLUENZA. Pig meat contains EXCESSIVE quantities of HISTAMINE and IMIDAZOLE compounds, which can lead to ITCHING and INFLAMMATION; GROWTH HORMONE which PROMOTES INFLAMMATION and growth; sulphur containing mesenchymal mucus which leads to SWELLING and deposits of MUCUS in tendons and cartilage, resulting in ATHRITIS, RHEUMATISM, etc.
Sulphur helps cause FIRM human tendons and ligaments to be replaced by the pig's soft mesenchymal tissues, and degeneration of human cartilage.

Eating pork can also lead to GALLSTONES and OBESITY, probably due to its HIGH CHOLESTEROL and SATURATED FAT content. The pig is the MAIN CARRIER of the TAENIE SOLIUM WORM, which is found in its flesh. These tapeworms are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it reaches beyond a certain stage. One in six people in the US and Canada has RICHINOSIS from eating trichina worms, which are found in pork.

Many people have NO SYMPTOMS to warm them of this, and when they do, they resemble symptoms of many other illnesses. These worms are NOT noticed during meat inspections.

SHAMPOO
Cancer-causing substance in shampoos. Go home and check your shampoo. Change before it's too late... Check the ingredients listed on your shampoo bottle, and see they have a substance by the name of Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or simply SLS. This substance is found in most shampoos; manufacturers use it because it produces a lot of foam and it is cheap. BUT the fact is, SLS is used to scrub garage floors, and it is very strong!!! It is also proven that it can cause cancer in the long run, and this is no joke. Shampoos that contains SLS: Vo5, Palmolive, Paul Mitchell, L'Oreal, the new Hemp Shampoo from Body Shop etc. contain this substance.

The first ingredient listed (which means it is the single most prevalent ingredient) in Clairol's Herbal Essences is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Therefore, I called one company, and I told them their product contains a substance that will cause people to have cancer. They said, Yeah we knew about it but there is nothing we can do about it because we need that substance to produce foam. By the way Colgate toothpaste also contains the same substance to produce the 'bubbles'. They said they are going to send me some information.

Research has shown that in the 1980s, the chance of getting cancer is 1 out of 8000 and now, in the 1990s, the chances of getting cancer is 1 out of 3, which is very serious. Therefore, I hope that you will take this seriously and pass this on to all the people you know, and hopefully, we can stop 'giving' ourselves cancer-causing agents.

A time to wind down

You can say this is what I do when I get away from the shop! Sweat my ass!! Lol!

Hubby and I went to our community club house yesterday evening. Initial plan was to dip into the pool but judging from the weather, we abandoned the plan and hit the gym instead.

Do you see the dark sky? We reached there around 5pm and it was raining like hell, but after an hour, the sky started to clear up. Hubby managed to swim for 20 minutes but I was damn tired from the work out on the treadmill.

The treadmill I used that overlooking the swimming pool. Nothing to complain about, at least I have good view while did my exercise. Only manage to walk and jog for 30 minutes. Cannot be too hard on myself since it has been months I did not hit the gym.

If you noticed that there is actually no wall in the toilet's sinks? Yes, I guess it is meant to be like that. It is just to show that the community is very safe and nothing to be worry about even in the changing cum toilet area.

Need to pamper myself

Lately I have time to pamper myself. I need to let my 2 staff run the business without me around, so I can catch a break or do some errands. Usually on a weekday afternoon I will take a quick break at home, did some cleaning in the room. I even have time to have a 20 minutes face facial. Lol! Need to use the mask or else it will stay idle and may go expired if I did not use it.

Last week I went to the nearby SCR (yes, it finally opens it doors to customers last week and I do not need to eat the boring food all the times) with few friends. We were talking about shopping, facial, body massage and foot massage. Oooh, make me itchy and want to go with them. Maybe one day; I could use a body massage. My back has been aching lately, must be from sitting too long in front of the pc. Not so much on shopping although I could buy some to update my wardrobe. Facial? A beauty spa just opens a few block away, and they have introduction price of RM48.00 per session. I have yet to check it out. There are more and more outlets and nearby shops open this month, so it is getting merrier every day.

Becoming organised

I have to admit I am not a tidy person neither a well organised type. So if you see my room, everything is here and there. It is even hardest to get everything organised especially when you have a baby like my Baby Jay who likes to crawl here and there to discover things.

My dearest hubby has been nagging me about keeping records, filing and book-keeping for my shop. He said everything need to be in proper order for any emergencies. Now that I am in my 2nd month of operation, I feel the pinch of more expenses as I need to pay for the electricity, telephone, staff salaries and other miscellaneous. Thank god that I can pay my bills at nearby supermarket as they have bill collection counter there. At least I do not need to go out to pay my bills.

Besides that I started to jot down my expenses in my payment vouchers as I need to get my account audited for next year's submission of income tax as a sole proprietor. Wow! Everything is new to me. Thank god I have hubby as my adviser, otherwise I would be making a mess in my shop. Lol!

Great Sunday

It proved to be an exciting morning yesterday as hubby and myself participated in H&L Shopping Sweep. Actually it was not planned as I were not supposed to be participating but last minute, I have been pulled into it.

A friend joined the competition and needed 3 friends in a team. One pulled out last minute so I have to join in. Me, in my heel running around searching for the required items. There was one minute where I thought of taking off my sandals and run bare foot but why making fool of myself in front of spectators? Lol! It was fun as I have never participated in this type of event. It reminded me of this tv game show "Shop Till You Drop" where contestants run around the supermarket and grab what they think is the most expensive items. However this is not the game rules, we have to pick what was given in the list!

We ran like fools looking through shelves, racks and display counters for the listed items. 4 of us managed to get through the final and guess what? We won! Yes! We get all the stuff we picked correctly (over RM600 worth of items) and RM500 cash vouchers. And my girl kept asking me what we were doing and requesting to go to the stage to take photograph with us.... *wink* We split the vouchers and products. And the news is out in newspapers today. Lol!

That is how we started our Sunday. I haven't got the time to download the pictures, but will do so once I am free. So check it out over my other blog this few day.

Selfish & tired

That is what I feel and have been described lately. What is actually happening here?

Since I operated my shop a month ago, my house is like a hotel to me. In the morning I would go out from the house around 8am and only come back after 10pm at night every day. Send my girl to school then drop Baby Jay at baby sitter's house, do some banking transactions and have breakfast before going to the shop. My time would be in the shop, 12 hours a day. Only when hubby is free, he will take it over from me, and I can do some household chores or take care of the kids. However, I feel I hardly have enough times with the kids and hubby. Sometimes I do not have dinner. Bored of eating the take away food or just could not think of what to eat. Other days peanut butter sandwiches or buns would be good to fill up my empty stomach. Lol!

Food is not my topic today. I feel sad at been called "selfish" by my hubby. He is accusing me of neglecting the kids and forgetting things since I have my shop. Our understanding before this is that he will help in any way and that include looking after the kids at night. Now he is complaining that he does not have times to do his work and meeting friends or customers at night. Sigh!

I know it is hard for him (a man) to look after the kids. He is looking after them during Sunday too. But I have to say he is doing good job although at first, I were little doubtful. The bonding between hubby and Baby Jay is much stronger now as I can see that baby is very much attached to hubby than me. Btw, Baby Jay starts make sound like "dada". I guess he is calling his daddy first instead of mummy?

I am not saying that I have problem with my hubby but lately we hardly talk. By the time I get to bed, I am just too tired to talk. No time to ask about our days. No more huggings and kisses unlike the first year of dating and marriage. Hubby been a sensitive person is complaining that I do not care about him etc. Gosh! I know something must done to improve our relationships and same time, juggle my times between my shop and family. I can only do it once my workers are better trained and I able to leave the shop in their hand. However for time being, still some things to sort out before I can trust them to manage the shop for me without my supervision.

Sorry for the ranting, I just need a place to release my tension. Maybe I should give in some time tonight to have a chat with hubby. I actually miss chatting with him. Ok, I will do it. I need to discuss with him on the time divide between the kids and shop. Counting down to close my shop for the day. Sigh!

Gotcha

Never would thought of seeing this, but luck is on me. After have been manipulating our kitchen and dried food for past months, this little rascal was caught at last. Or rather you could say, it trapped itself.

This little rascal has been territorising my kitchen and I never able to catch it irregardless of how many glue traps I put. So I still wonder how it goes into this glass and unable to squeeze itself out. Found it trapped into slightly open glass in the kitchen top, so I conveniently let it trapped there for few days. I guess it did not last long because after 2 days the glass with the "occupant" in it gone. Well, some more rascals to catch.

Friend's wedding

At our age, most of my friends would either have tied down or have 1 or 2 children of their own. Not many single friends around.

This year I would have 2 good friends getting married and one of them is today. it has been more than 10 years since the last time we met as this friend moved to Singapore to work after graduated from college. It is great to hear she has finally tie down the knot with her long time boyfriend (maybe I should said, hubby since they have registered for years).

Hubby agreed to help me look after the shop tonight while I attend the wedding reception at Grand Margherita Hotel. Since change of name, I never visit this hotel again. Little girl will be coming along since hubby is not joining. It has been a while since I have some time with my 4 years old girl. Maybe it would be good time to talk to her about her school and the upcoming language speaking competition. So I am looking forward to tonight's function and also reunion with long time friends.

Maid in the shop

I got an Indonesian maid! She has been with us for a week. This maid is not employed to do domestic chore for time being. She is currently helping me out in the shop.

She arrived here last Wednesday and since then, she has been following me to the shop every day. I like her as she is young and daring (not afraid to approach customers and talk with them), and initiative. So far so good. She able to operate the computer and key in receipts, helping me with the filing and stocks. Some more she is a Chinese, so it is an advantage as most of my customers are Chinese. Just that I need to monitor her, don't let her go overboard (you know what I mean? :p

Actually she was recommended by my MIL, this maid used to work in a hair salon for 2 years before went back for CNY this year. MIL said that this maid can be lazy if she wants, so I need to be strict with her.

Now that she is with us, it is our responsibility to apply the necessary visa, bring her for medical check up etc. Sigh! It is not cheap to employ a foreign worker. How much? Anyone can roughly tell me how much would it cost to get everything done? I never employed an Indonesian maid before.

Bored of eating

Re-phrase myself! Bored of the food here.

Everyday I have been eating "tapau" from the nearby cafe. Not nasi lemak, then it will be salad chicken rice or fried rice. Boring! Unless the food is good then I would look forward to them, but sorry! Damn unappetizing and boring. Once a while I will simply just savor burgers, buns or waffles to fill up my hungry stomach in the evening. Sometimes I would tapau first before open up the shop but not much Malay food choices. I have a Malay staff so we only eating halal food in the shop.

So my clever hubby came up with a suggestion last weekend. To turn the storeroom into a mini kitchen. He has bought a mini rice cooker and a pack of rice. And he has been thinking of constructing a wall-mounted rack to put an induction cooker. A good idea but I am concern about cooking in the store room. I heard that induction cooker is safer than using gas cooker but the idea does not sound appealing to me than having eating take-away.

Anyway, wait till he starts to do something with it. For time being I have purchased a fire extinguisher. The food court and SCR are expecting to open next month so I hope not to eat the same food from the same cafe soon.

Big goals

Managed to catch some highlights of 2010 FIFA World Cup this morning in Tabuan Food Court. Just could not believe that Germany youngsters trashed out the England team with a convincing 4-1 win and a passport to quarter final with Argentina!

During the match a very contraversial goal by Lampard was denied. Replay showed a clear goal in, but referee denied England a goal, otherwise the score would be 4-2. Nevertheless Germany played a good match and well deserved to be through into the next round. Not much effort from England and they defended badly. Which team you expect to win this year World Cup? During 2006, I supported the Germany team, but they did not through the final. And in the Final, it was a tough match between Italy and France which Italy won. I bet France to take the previous cup but alas! Italy won on penalty and Zidane, one of my favourite players were send off on his last World Cup match. As for this year, it is pretty hard to bet who will win. I will place my bet when there is only left 4 teams in the Semi!

Women behind the big wheels

My old car deserted me again. I do not what is the problem this time. Did not have time to check on her lately. but my guess is the starter since totally no sound or light when trying to start the car. So for time being she will be laid idly in the house.

As I drove hubby's car this evening to pick my two kids from baby sitter, I could not help but like to drive his car compared to my old car. Yes! I starting to love driving my hubby's 4W car. And I noticed that many ladies (friends that I know) are driving bigger cars. Called it daring or status quo, it is rather not easy to drive big car. I feel heavier. And it is definitely not easy to find parking too. Lastly not to mention the climbing out and in, especially when you have a lot of stuff to carry around. However I still like the feeling of driving a big car because I feel I am towering over all those smaller cars. *wink*

As I age

Okay, my birthday is just in a couple of month time. Hitting the double 3 is not what I wish for, but I guess I just have to accept that I am going to be in my mid-30s soon.

How do you feel when you are in your 30s? Down the road along the way, you may wonder what you have done, achieve and what you have not done and achieve, right? Some good and bad memories, but nevertheless life goes on.

As I age, I tend to forget things. For instance my anniversary. Yes! I just remember my wedding anniversary is one week overdue. And hubby also forgot about it! I guess the new shop has taken too much of our times that we forget about the important date. But alas! Nothing much to cheer about. Just grateful my hubby is by my side through hard and good times.

Then one morning I suddenly thought of my little girl. She will be back this Friday. I thought of my girl singing to me. I miss her voice and songs! I remember her saying to me that she will look after me when I grow older. Yes! My 4 years old girl has promised to look after my old age. Isn't it sweet? And when I asked her what would she wants to be when she grows up, she answered me "I want to be like mummy.". Lol!

On my birthday, I would only wish for one thing...GOOD HEALTH! Or maybe I should directly say how I wish I would be 16 again! Lol! The health and energy of a sixteen years old. I remember I used to lose weight easily when I was younger but as age catching up. it is getting hard to get rid of that bulging tummy. Coupled up with me sitting in the shop most of the time, it does not help either way.

Okay, I leave my wish on my birthday. Time to get down to work! Or I would turn idle and feel old. *wink*

Nasty at night

As I was complaining about lack of sleep in my previous post, I realise that my Baby Jay is almost 10 months old now. In 2 weeks time he would have his JE jab. He has 6 teeth growing out; 4 on top while 2 big white teeth on his lower gum. What ever he can grab he will put into his mouth. So everytime we reached home, we had to make sure the living room table is clear and everything is out of his reach. Otherwise he will just speeding in his baby walker and grabbing everything in sight!

Now that he is growing, he seldom have longer sleeping time at night. Usually by the time I reach home after closing shop, he will sleep on my bed before I transfer him to his cot. Once a while hubby will bring him to the shop and wait for me till closing.

I noticed that Baby Jay tends to wake up frequently at night. Most of the time he is not hungry. Just cry for no reason. Or probably he just want to have a cuddle from mummy. I guess baby at such age more attach to his parent. However my Baby Jay is not afraid of strangers. He does not mind anyone to carry him! Gosh!

Baby Jay will wake me up at least twice or thrice a night. Some more he does not drink his milk that frequent at night now. Just tend to suck on the bottle nipple. Shit! There goes the milk! Wasted if hubby does not want to drink it. (Yes, he does drink the unfinished or untouched milk sometimes)

Once a while Baby Jay would not goes back to sleep but wail till I have no choice but to put him in between hubby and myself. There! After a while, he will doze off to sleep. Sigh! Threesome is a crowd in our bed, and now I am wondering when my 4 years old girl back from hometown, how we are going to share the bed together? Or maybe we would need to pull another bed for all of us?

In need of sleep

Not the world Cup fever, mind you. I got the sleepy bug in my body.....

Lack of sleep is the culprit. Some more most of the nights Baby Jay does not give me a good night sleep. So, now I look like a panda in the shop. Lol!

My life in the shop is like the ocean. One minute a big wave of people in the shop. The next minute, my shop is empty. I am short-handed (need to employ one more staff) and unable to serve all. I am cashier cum promoter. My staff has only joined a week and she is not familiar with the computer system. She is totally helpless with keyboard and could not type well, so not to mention which alphabet is where. Lol! Anyway, I will give her some more times to get use to the system.

Hubby is getting better with the system and he can help me with printing bills. However he would not be here to help most of the time as he got works to do and during the weekend, he is taking care of Baby Jay. Yes! The responsibility has swapped between us. He is taking care of Jayden on weekend and night. I take over when I am home. Hmm, why could not he continue till the next morning so I could have my much needed sleep? Lol!

Little chat from my shop

I took a break last night. After been taking care of the shop 12 hours a day for almost 2 weeks, I finally given a much deserved break last night. From who? From hubby and SIL.

Since they want to close the shop on my behalf, I took off around 6pm, went to the hair salon upstair and have my hair washed. Great feeling. And a treat from hubby too! *wink* My head felt light and body much refreshed after a wash and massage by the shampoo girl.

New girl came early this week, but being only 20 years old she did not have much experiences and very shy. However she is hardworking when asked her to do this and that. I need to train her more to talk to customers. One more sales promoter wanted. It is hard to look for staff nowadays. Everyone want higher salary but expect less work and easy job. What are those young girls thinking about?

The worst!

I could not stand it. Its basic amenities are the worst!

The toilet is the worst I have ever seen in a shopping mall. Out of 5, only 2 doors could be locked properly. One is taken for its storage of equipment. Even its handicap toilet has been used as store. Now I wonder why would they bother to have a handicap toilet if it is not for people to use but to keep stuff?

There is not a single day where I can see a clean and dry toilet. Sigh!

It has been almost 2 weeks since in operation but my phone lines have not yet done properly. This morning the contractor came to test on the phone lines but yet again, everything is fine. So I wonder why there is no single dial tone?

The management of the plaza is another story. Or probably I have been in this line before and see differently from different shoes. Or probably I could not expect too much from them as now I am one of the tenants here.....

Lose my voice

Must be I talk too much! *laugh* My voice also become husky lately.

Today I woke up pretty early. My Baby Jay is my alarm clock. He wakes up on time, around 7am but today is exceptionally early. Both my kids are early birds, so I do not rely much on my alarm clock to wake me up. Lol!

My new staff would be coming middle of the month. At least with a new staff, hubby can leave and do his own stuff. He has been helping during the weekday. I could not wait to get him out of sight as almost everyday he is complaining about no staff and freedom. Lol!

First week at shop

For a start, I am glad that I finally make through the tough week. Stocks came and unpacked, stock checking, arranging and final preparation before the opening last weekend. But the tough test was only started.

A bit messy on first day. I still have lots to familiarise, especially the computer software and some hard-to-please customers, but other than that, everything is fine. Luckily got my family and friends to help me while I am looking for staff. Pretty hard to find workers now due to Gawai celebration, but hopefully I will be able to get one soon.

Ok, enough online for time being. While no customers around, I better have my dinner. Hungry me....cannot wait till shop closes at 10.

It is almost ready

I just finished packing some goodies bags for my shop opening. Before that hubby and I went for massages in Hide-A-Bean. I feel pains and aches all over body but I know I will feel great afterward. And a good night sleep too.

I went to check on my shop this evening. It is almost completed and today contractor came to install the cctv, LCD tv and computer system. So early tomorrow morning I would start to clean the shop. The stocks should be arriving in the morning around 9am so I need to wipe the dusts from my display shelves and mop my shop before it arrives. After that I have about a day to ready for the opening on Saturday. Oooh! I am going to be very busy from there onwards. So, good night everyone!

School of terror

Read upon this shocking news about one school in PM where its students are committing intimidating acts, as reported by The Star. When one read it, one would be wondering what is happening in schools nowadays. What is shocking is that the teachers and school authorities are powerless over such incidents. Hooliganism and gangsterism are common in that school and nothing has been done so far in addressing such issues until recent investigation by the Education Ministry. Before this, no one want to report to the relevant authorities. Are those students really fearless?

How those students can commit in such acts in first place? What influence or drive them to do them? It makes me wonder about choosing the right school for my little gal. She would be turning 5 next year and it is compulsory to register your children to your preferred primary school when they turning 5.

It makes me think back about my school days where gangs are not that common. I remember schools used to be fun. Popular girls and popular boys used to be the top talk in school, not "this gang, that gang". I think the most trouble students can give teachers would be vandalism especially the classroom furnitures and washroom facilities. Other than that, I never hear of hooligans or gangsters during my assembly. How about you?

Kids vs grandkids

Don't you ever wonder the way your parents treated you when you were young and the way they treat your children now? Are they the same?

I used to strict parents when me and my siblings were younger then. Even the time we were to gone to bed were monitored closely. By 9pm, everyone must gone to bed if it is a weekday. This rule even followed suit till I were in my teens and adulthood. Old habits hard to kill, right?

Back to the treatment, I still feel that grandparents tend to treat their grandchildren differently. For instance, the caning is allowed when we were younger. However when we mentioned the word "caning" and its implementation to our children, both grandparents opposed to such treatment. So to say that they approved and implemented caning on their children, but a "no no" for their grandchildren. And sometimes the way we teach our children were to be judged.

Grandparents really treat grandchildren differently. With their own kids, they tend to be stricter but with grandchildren, grandchildren are like a whole world to them. In turn grandchildren knows when to please their grandparents. Like for instance my daughter. She knows her grandparents love her. So if me or hubby is to scold or does not allow her something, she will complained to her grandparents. And in turn, we get the scolding from the grandparents. That is how the circle started.

Much alive

Many agenda in my head now. Getting ready for the shop is my priority but my kids are not feeling well and hubby's aunt is visiting from Brunei.

My girl has been sick since Sunday and she still having fever now and then. She has been absent from school two days. Tonsilitis. Now my Baby Jay has started to cough too. Gosh! The virus is spreading again. I am tired thinking about both kids' health. Sigh!

Hubby's aunt who diagnosed with cancer was flown from Brunei for treatment and chemo in General Hospital. My concerned MIL flew over last Friday one hour earlier than my flight. She is back in hometown now but will be flying over again this Friday as hubby's aunt is going for her first chemo therapy that day. So my SIL is busy driving back and forth the hotel to visit her aunt and bought her food. Luckily the aunt has her two daughters to accompany her but one flew back to Brunei to attend to her business this afternoon.

Every year I always wish for good health. Stay healthy is one of my resolutions. Seeing or hearing so many relatives or friends diagnosed with cancers and few passed away from it are scary. Health is important. Without it, nothing would be meaningful. So again I nag hubby to be health conscious; stop smoking and go for exercises. His side of the family has cancer background so chance of him getting one is high. Coupled with unhealthy habits there is a reason for me to be very concern. Sigh!

Feel good

Don't you feel good when you wake up in the morning in an unfamiliar place and receive a encouraging message from your loved one! I did!

Woke up pretty early (the usual time at home) before 7am. Since cannot dozed back to sleep, might as well switch on my notebook and facebook-ing. I usually off my handphone at night before I go to bed, so this morning when I switched on my handphone I received a nice sms from my hubby. It said "I know how hard you work to take care of the two kids. I admire your strength. Let;s work hard for the children future." :) Doesn't it put a smile to your face?

It just keeps me going and I know that I am being appreciated and all my efforts and sweats would not go down the drain.

Last night I dreamt about my new shop! Gosh! All those anxieties. I remember I was fussing about the display and looking anxious and confused in my dream. Hope it would not be like that when I really open my shop end of this month! Lol!

Some shopping and eating

I have fully recovered from all the tiredness and stiffness. Feel more refresh after a good night sleep last night. Today I do not feel tired during the training. Or probably the pyschology side of going to go home soon make me more awake throughout the day.

Nothing interesting this week, besides sitting in front of computers, learning how to operate POS. While I were in Mid-Valley last weekend, I took the opportunity to visit the Mum & Baby Expo there. Thought people over here would not wake up that early but by the time I reached the exhibition hall at around 1030am on Sunday, I had a shock. It was packed like sardine cans.

Either I like it or not, I have to squeeze myself through the crowds and look around for offer bins. The wedding expo was on the other hall which was not that pack. So the parents here, some with babies in strollers were busy digging through the offer bins, checking out the promotional items and attending a parenting talk. I did not take much time there since I only have few minutes to spare. Managed to get 4 sets of long sleeves shirts and long pants for RM40 and training toothbrush (forgot the price) for Baby Jay and a shirt for little girl for only RM8.

Last night after my training, I took monorail to Times Square. You can say I know the route of monorail and expert in taking trains by now. *wink* But it was a mistake. I forgot the time. By the time I reached the monorail it is almost 6pm and was packed with people! So again, I have the feeling of being one of the folks here, squeezing myself into the 2-decks monorail. Gosh!! I was surprised that KTM started its first (I understand the first in Malaysia?) commuter deck for ladies only. I have not have the opportunity to sit into one, but I applaud KTM for its effort but I wonder how effective the campaign is. It sounds like gender discrimination and would not solve the congestion during peak hour where men would need to go into the female-only decks.

Anyway, back to my Times Square adventure. I did not spend much time there. Stayed for an hour since today is another busy day. My intention of going to Times Square? Just want to explore the part that I did not do so many years ago. The theme park and eat my favourite food there. Maybe some day I will bring my kids to the indoor park. Hardly can see much from the entrance.

Next stop! Shihlin Taiwan Snack Street. Yes! Its xxl crispy chicken and oyster mee sua. It took me almost 30 minutes to find that little shop lot although I had floor directory with me. I know I were greedy. I have the mee sua there and take away the chicken to the hotel room. While enjoying my new story book (which I bought for RM5 at Carrefour), I had my crispy chicken on the bed. So you can say I am gaining some weight, but who cares. Let me go back to Kuching and start losing some fat there. Lol! But by then, I would be busy with my shop opening and do not have time for any exercises and indulge in good food.

Talking about food, I am having some Gardenia's ChocoRaisin bread for dinner. My favourite. I have finished almost half the loaf while blogging. *wink* And it was a surprise to read that the brothers, Dan and Jordan won the current Amazing Race. I did not have the privilege to watch the finale and was sad to know the cowboys lose. Oh well, least expect the brothers to win this season.

What I did past few days

What I did on this year's Mother's Day......Training in the centre the whole day. I just got back from the centre, took a shower and take some times to blog. As matter of fact, today is my last practical training. Tomorrow is another new day with new computerised training. Now I am counting down till next Friday before I take a flight back to my family.....*wink*

My training was in Mid Valley Mega Mall while I am staying in the KL city area. So every morning after breakfast in the hotel, I took monorail to KL Sentral then transit using KTM to Mid-Valley. In the evening after closing around 1030pm, I took a cab back to the hotel, which is about 20 minutes ride if no jam. So every night I reached the hotel after 11pm.

Tired legs, sored feet and stiffed neck are what I have now. Gosh! Just 4 days I already want to surrender. Hahaha! Thank god the trainer is a nice lady, full of patience and understanding. I have a long way to learn before operate my own shop.

So how is your Mother's Day celebration? Hubby just wished me a "Happy Mother's Day" which cause tears in my eyes. Me sitting in my bed with a laptop on my lap, thinking about them while typing this post......*Sob* Away from family on Mother's Day. I miss them.

Flying off again

I would be flying to KL this evening and be away for 10 days. My final training before I pass and obtain my shop operation in Kuching. Final training is always the toughest one but hopefully I pass with flying colours. *wink*

Since I would be in KL for 10 days it means for the first time I would not be celebrating my Mother's Day with my family. Oh no! Instead I would be doing my training for 10 days non-stop.....Pity me.

Nevertheless, I would like to wish all mothers and mothers-to-be "Happy Mother's Day".
