Blow My 1st candle

On this day last year I have started my own blog space, Rose’s World! I have been actively following some of the food and mother blogs around for almost a year before deciding to have one. I have never thought I would have gone this far. My excitement and enthusiasm have never burned out for the past one year although I did encounter some obstacles along the way. I have to thank my fellow blogger friends for been supporting me all this while! It is truly an awesome year for me as I meet many new friends along the way and share many experiences with me. They are truly an inspiration to my blog!

One year ago when I decided to start a blog, my first question popped into my mind would be “what should I be blogging about?” Food? I am not the adventurous type and wouldn’t want to bore my readers with my boring cooking and food adventures. I wouldn’t want to compete with those faboulous food blog friends either. My life? Nothing interesting about that either! LOL! So, in the end, I decided to have a bit of this and that, and mix it into one!! So, Rose’s World was born on this day in 2007!

Now I simply infatuated with blogging. My perception on blog has changed over the year too. Initially I planned to use this blog as an online diary for my reading pleasure when I grow older and for my children to know my life experiences and adventures. About a month later I started up another blog, solely dedicated to my family only, and Rose’ World would be more of my personal blog on my daily experiences at work, outside from home, personal opinions and food adventures.

Through blog, I have learnt many things from other bloggers; able to share what they have experienced and encountered, and get to know more people with different cultures from other countries. There is never a day when I was bored visiting your homes as the time visiting you guys is always amazing and full of surprises. Now blogging world is like a place where you share experiences and meet new friends from other parts of the world.

I know I would not be able to experience all those wonderful feelings if I didn’t start blogging. By staying in Kuching without traveling around the world, how I am going to meet a friend from US and get change to view all those beautiful season photographs? And what more, blogging is FREE of charge!! Isnt that awesome?? Not only that, I have the opportunity to earn some decent money (although not very huge sum) from blogging. How more interesting can blogging be?? So, my advice to some fellows out there that plans to start a blog, just get down registering one straight away! Don’t hold back as you will never know what you have missed.

Some may think that blog is a nuisance, waste of time and energy, only those with nothing to do or too much free times would write a blog! It is not totally true. A blog brings people with same interests together. A blog is neither good nor bad, it is how you think of it. Good or bad is up to your perception. Your blog is your own space where you can decide on what to write and what to be shared in it. Even Malaysian ministers are blogging now. Whether you like it or not, blog is becoming a part of our life in this big world; it acts as a communication and advertising media.

There may be some day when my mind is totally blank and cant think of what to put in my blog, but come other days when a lot of ideas rushing in that I can post 3 – 4 posts in a day! LOL! I hope I didn’t bore my fellow readers and friends with some nonsense and long winded topics in the past. *wink*

I would like to take this golden opportunity to thank all my blogger friends (some of you have been loyal and visit my blog almost everyday. You know who you are) for your kind comments. Without you guys’ comments, this blog would be a quiet space indeed. Without you guy’s continuous support, I wouldn’t have gone this far and becoming a part of bloggers family. And please continue to support me ok? *laugh* A big kiss from me! MUAK! Thank you and I love you guys.

How would I celebrate my 1st anniversary as a blogger? Hmm, maybe buy myself a small cake with a candle. Blow my own candle. Huuuu! Happy blogging, my friends. Here, I leave you with a quote from one of greatest writers, William Shakespeare that goes like this:

But if the while I think on thee, dear friend, All losses are restored and sorrows end.~William Shakespeare

Just couldn't wait to get it over with, right?? Anyway, my friend, congratulations and welcome to The Wives Club!!

I am looking forward to The Day myself, am sure it will definitely be a memorable day for you and babe. Cannot wait to congratulate the blushing bride and the grinning groom on that day. *wink*

Bloody sweet

I have just taking a nice cold shower after finished cleaning up the room. Phew! It is damn hot in the house. Don’t know I should thank the sun or what, but one part I got my laundry all dried up and one part, I am panting with sweat clearing and cleaning the room. Mind you, I just clean up only 1 part of the house and I am complaining it is a hard job!! Lol! Think I cannot be a full-time housewife!

Must be all those boxes and books on the book shelf and little gal’s toys and items on the basket, I have been attacked by mosquito while cleaning up the room. I have a sensitive skin especially when it comes to mosquito. I can stand dust, I don’t have a sensitive nose, but when come to mosquito, I cannot stand its bite.

Now I got a bite on my thigh and one on my right jaw. So I am smell of Axe Brand Oil (Minyak Cap Kapak) after my shower. LOL! Since young, I have been using Axe oil when I got itch or any insect bites. It works on me. I know some people hate its smell and will never used it. Anyone hate Axe Brand Oil? What other ointment do you used for such case??
It is very frustrating when my little gal got some red marks on her legs, hands and face. Mosquito bite what else! Mosquito loves to bite her and even I used the repellants and get rid of them, they never stop disturbing my gal. Young children's skins are more tender and would not heal fast when they have bruises or bite.

If she got any bite, I will usually apply some green ointment on her bite mark. I don't used Axe Oil as she thinks it is "hot". Sorry dont know what that green ointment called, in Chinese writing. Usually it takes about 5 to 7 days for the marks to disappear. During my confinement more than 2 years ago, the confinement lady then told us to buy some Chinese herb and pig’s intestine and boiled them together for my little gal’s bath! And of course my in-laws objected to such suggestion, thinking pig’s intestine is dirty and would not do any good cause. I don’t know how true it is, never heard of such remedy. The confinement lady told me that by bathing babies using such items will help prevent mosquito from biting the babies and even if it does bite, marks will heal faster. Thinking of intestine, I go "yuk". Not to mention bathing in the water soaked with it! Double "yuk"!

A business to consider

A customer of mine introduced a botanical cum fruit juice to me recently. A direct selling product. Supposed to contain many botanical extracts and good for cleansing and building immune system. Out of goodwill, I bought one which cost me RM138 per bottle. I am getting hubby to try it since it is supposed to be good for smokers; detox, cleansing etc. So far hubby did not complain of any side effect, so I guess the product is good. Just drinking for 5 days, so not really sure of its effect yet.

This customer of mine now is turning into full time direct seller of such product. It is amazing at how determine and confident she is in this product and business that she resigned from a well-paid job to do all those. She is trying to sell me off with the ideas of multi-level marketing which I know well since I am a distributor of another multi-level marketing too! I have been acquired to the idea of network marketing, multi-level marketing, copycat marketing for many years, but I have never have that inspiration (maybe not yet) to go full time. However I admired those people that achieved freedom in doing in and very successful with it. Anyone into network marketing and is a very successful person?

Tomorrow I will be on leave. Manager told each of us to clear our leaves and not to be brought forward to next year. I have 6 more days left, so clearing 1 of them tomorrow. I guess I will just relax and do some spring cleaning. I haven’t been really get down to good cleaning for many weeks and my bedroom is a mess. Sigh!

Weekend Menu #11

Go chicken!

I am becoming to be an early bird lately, hardly can sleep well. Keep waking up few times at night and in the morning, I will wake up around 6.15am while the rest of the household still in dreamland.

Yesterday was my examination day, and I am glad that it is over. Don’t know the result yet. I have been dreaming of chicken soup for past days. Must be the cold and rainy season that make me crave for soup. And guess what? Since I cant sleep this morning, why don’t go to the market and get some chicken drumsticks and wings and make lunch??

Hubby craves for fried chicken so I took the liberty to cook lunch. End up I cooked both fried chicken and chicken soup in one meal. LOL! So we have chicken dishes for our lunch and enjoy CSI series in front of the television. And little gal also starting to taste her first fried drumstick. LOL! I think both hubby and myself would stop taking chicken for the next couple of days.

What do you think of my fried chicken? Can compete with KFC? I think my drumsticks are bigger than those served in KFC. *wink*

Craving for roti canai

Lately I have been craving for spicy food. I know that it is not good for my health but a little indulgence once a while would not be too much, right? It is hard to find good Indian and mamak food in Kuching, and if they are available, the prices are high rocket. I guess they are considered specialty dishes here in Kuching. If you ever dream of a nice Indian rojak and curry mee, do try the Kucei Rojak at Batu Lintang Hawker centre.

Like I mentioned early, not many choices of Indian or mamak food around. Even the existing ones imposed expensive prices on their food and drinks. But when one’s crave builds in, even high prices cannot stop one from satisfying the craving and stomach.

Ammah, opposite Unimas in jalan Tun Ahmada Zaidi Adruce is one of the good mamak place when you can enjoy a nice glass of teh tarik and roti canai alike. Been a “heavy tea drinker”, hubby usually needs minimum of 2 glasses of iced tea to quench his thirst. In today breakfast, he ordered his usual iced tea (1 glass) and teh tarik (1 glass). And hubby looked at me one kind when my order came with question “Are you sure you can finish your plate?” LOL!

Both of us ordered 2 roti telur each, but never mind. It needs patience to eat at Ammah as their orders are pretty slow. It took us more than 30 minutes for our roti telur. RM14.50 for our breakfast. Now that is a great price and food to consider

Thank you, excuse me, please, sorry

Since young, little gal was taught on proper manner and how to be courteous. It is vital to teach children proper manner because they are learning and always imitate the adults. They learn by example.

Every time she wants something, we will teach her to say with “please”. “Open the door, please”. Now without us teaching or telling her to thank people, she will thank even the cashiers when we make payment at the cashier, or someone giving her gifts. If she did something wrong, she will point out it is her fault and apologizes. And if we did not bother about her, she will shout at top of her voice “excuse me” for attention.

Teach your children those magic words. It make parents proud to have well-mannered children, don’t you agree?

Am I glad it is over

When was the last time I even sat in exam room, in front of a pc, answering 60 objective questions? And not to mention those questions are confusing and difficult to answer!

I was talking about my unit trust examination that I took this morning. It started sharply at 9.00am, a 2-hour examination. Thank god I passed, but I don’t know what the score is. I don’t care the score, as long as I pass and get the certificate right? Yes! I am certified to sell unit trust, so if anyone has any questions or interest to buy unit trust, do look for me! Lol!

I don’t really study much for the examination. Hardly have time when you are working like half day during the day and come back home to an active child and tired like a log, right? I am supposing to study when I took 2 days leave on Thursday and Friday, but half day was gone on Thursday for my little gal’s registration. Yes, we finally register her in pre-school. After breakfast we went to bank to withdraw cash, brought her to studio for passport-sized photographs and view around the pre-school before decide to register.

As for yesterday, I was busy cooking lunch for hubby and myself after sending little gal for her Hepatitis A booster injection in the morning. Also my handphone did not stop bothering me with SMS and calls from manager and customers asking for information. Sigh! No revision last night, I took early sleep around 10pm. Like my old school days when I sat for SPM. No late night study for me as I don’t have the habit of cramping all information last minute.

There would be another 2 more examinations next Saturday but for time being, I do not want to do any revision. I guess I will start revision tomorrow or when I am on leave next week (if I really get down to it by then). *wink*

The Power Blog

I got this Power blog award from Dora. Thank you very much. I wish I can be like those cute power puff girls, have special powers and save the day in the end! LOL! If I have any special power and can save the day, I would love to save the current economic turmoil we are going through and stop the suffering of people (those crying no tears in investment and especially the poor who are even poorer now).

Be frank, I need some superior brain power now. Tomorrow I would be sitting for my Unit Trust examination and I hope I will pass it!! And tell you the truth, I seldom watch the power puff girls cartoon, but I remember their names, i.e.Buttercup, Bubble and Blossom. Recently Mixfm has a question on the name of those 3 girls in their morning's show "Are you smarter than a 12 years old?". That is how I can remember their names. LOL

Hope we choose the right one

We have finally enrolled little gal in a pre-school near to her baby sitter’s house. Reasoning is very simple. Distance of the pre-school to baby sitter’s house. We brought little gal over this morning to have a look at the pre-school. They even have a swimming pool in the compound.

It would be half day session for little gal, so her baby sitter will be able to pick her up and look after her for the rest of the afternoon. The school starts from 8.30am to 11.30am. Guess it is a reasonable arrangement as we have no plan of letting her be at the pre-school the whole day. At least I am relieved knowing she is taken care by someone she can relies on and would not be at the pre-school the whole day.

Not that I have anything prejudice about putting her whole day in pre-school, but I think my gal is still young and would not be that independent to look after herself. Going to school would be new experience to her, so I wouldn’t want to put her in a stressful situation. She would not be in one place the whole day, yet have the pleasure of meeting new friends and learn new things in pre-school and can rest and relax in her baby sitter’s house while waiting for us to pick her up after work.

The pre-school is less than 5 minutes drive from baby sitter’s house, so it is convenient for her to pick little gal up. We have a tour around the school, brought her to see the younger age class. When those children saw little gal, everyone rushing to greet and touch her, much to little gal's surprise. She ran away from them! Lol! We also manage to view the children singing "Negaraku" anthem and some children songs at the assembly hall. And guess what little gal like the best? The playland where there is a slide there. LOL~

It is a norm to register your children earlier for next year’s school calendar. School starts on 5 January 2009. If you did not register your children earlier (some even require 6 months and more to ensure entry), especially in the reputable pre-schools, children would not stand chance for a spot in that school. The pre-school that we enrolled in only open for weekday. No schooling on Saturday, unless for special classes where separate fees will be levied on.

The registration part is done this morning. RM1127 in total for 1st semester. The fee includes text book, insurance, kit, uniforms, gymwear etc. As she is at the younger class, she will have her own teacher to guide her in reading, so we also paying RM44.00 for a reader fee. Wow! Now the other worried part would be little gal’s first day. Wonder what would be her reaction on the first day, and not to mention her parent’s emotion on sending their little girl to school!!? The school even have holiday camp where children can register earlier before the semester starts to familiarise with the environment and lots of activities like play time, baking and singing will be introduce during the holiday camp which last for 4 weeks from next week till December. We are still thinking whether to enrol her in the camp or not. If yes, I would need to take leave to accompany her on her first day.

Senseless Sunday mumbling from me

Aaah! Sunday! With a blink of our eyes, it is almost a Sunday evening. And a wet Sunday evening too, as it is raining heavily outside now. How come when we are not working, time passes so fast that Saturday and Sunday are just not enough? Why there is never enough time for ourselves and for our family??

We just finished 3 series of CSI on AXN Channel. Thought of catching up on some revision but my mind was blank and nothing can be absorbed in. Sigh! I think I am getting lazier or is it that my brain is no longer that competent as where I was in school? Exactly 10 years ago, I graduated from university with a master degree. And exactly 10 years ago I got my first job too. Wow!

Frankly, have you even plan your life, like what you want to do, what you want to achieve when you reach a certain age etc? I know someone who actually plan what and when she wants to do something. Like when she wants to have boyfriend, wants to get married, have children, buy a house etc. Super woman I have to admit! It may be good that you have a plan or direction in life, but aren’t those things unpredictable and not within your hand?

Wearing your sunglass during raining night

A colleague told me to try wearing sunglass at night to reduce the glaring effect from cars that drive the opposite direction. It may sound weird but I tried it out myself out of curiosity.

It proved correct, much to my surprise. Wearing sunglass does reduce the glaring effect of other cars’ lights, and not only that. The vision is clearer too!! It is much clearer when you put on your sunglass when it was raining in the evening.

I tried it once, of course with hubby on the driver’s seat. Try and be the judge yourself

Healthier fried rice?

My little gal loves to take fried rice so her mummy cooked some for her over the weekend. I pre-cooked the rice, enough for 2 persons (myself and hubby) as little gal doesn’t eat much.

For the ingredient, I used big onion, cabbage, anchovies and egg. The type of fried rice hubby loves. Fried rice may not be that healthier since it involves frying, but I guess with those ingredients (vegetables and anchovies) I guess I have substitute some protein and calcium in my carbohydrate-packed fried rice. And of course, avoid using too much oil in the cooking.

Luckily both hubby and gal enjoyed it. That makes wifey and mummy very happy! LOL!

Another week

I was busy preparing reports in the office, hardly have time to take a deep breath. The next minute, boss is calling me to her office, asking me about my weekly performance. I was speechless as wonder how to tell her that I am going to fail this week!

And the next minute I know, I woke up from my bad dream. Oh dear. I am dreaming. And worst, I am dreaming I were at work, pushing hard for my target. Last week was the start of my weekly target and I have to say I just manage to pass. Not with flying colours, but just pass. I am dreading to go to work this morning, because I knew I have failed this week. And not only me, my other colleagues too. Economic is really hitting hard on us. And everyone complaining of lack of sales and customers are reluctant to take money out from their pocket to invest with us. Oh dear, wonder how all of us are going to go through this week…………… sigh!!
I have been in the new company for 2 months. Everything is different compared to previous company, the system, procedures and office rules etc. Everything is not the same. Just a short 2 months, but I have been through so many e-learning, meetings and product training.

On the bright side, November is here again and without you knowing it, Christmas and New Year are around the corner. Yes! It means it is festive and shopping time. Some shops already in Christmas mood with some Christmas tree and decorations put up. Wow! Time really is passing away fast.

An unduly disturbance on a Sunday morning

I have a habit of switching on my handphone when I woke up every morning (I usually off it when I went to bed the night before). Today, I switched on my handphone at 6.50am. As usual, little gal reluctant to sleep longer than her normal hour, so I have no choice to wake up with her.

As we were tugging lazy on our respective beds, suddenly I heard a noise below me. Someone was banging at our gate. Oh yes, I knew who make that noise but the shocking thing is at such unduly hour?? Never happen before in the past.

Who else but the grass cutter that I have complained to you before. Yes, I guess he must be worry sick that we will not be at home, so he came so early on a Sunday morning just to cut our grass.

Not only that he was banging at our gate, but he was climbing over it into our compound. All those noise from the grass cutter he made. And after done with the cutting, he was banging at our front door demanding for money. I don’t know what you would think but I think that was some harassment on his part. One part he already trespassing our compound, second part he cut the grass without our permission and lastly he demanding for money on services that we did not ask for. Don’t you think that was annoying?
