Another round of potluck

Guess we love the last week's potluck that we call for another round last night! As usual, everyone is late although we stated 630pm! What are they so busy about on a Sunday evening huh? Everyone arrived around 7.30pm! We reached there around 6.45pm and another lady friend have arrived!

A photo session with our lady friend

We brought curry lamb! RM25! Pretty expensive as the portion is small although it is supposed to be medium size!!

Other food on the table

The guys enjoying themselves

As usual, after dinner, the guys will need some "table exercise" to digest!! As for ladies, we opted to watch television instead! Deal or No Deal on NTV7! LOL!

Only few of us as some are sick or couldnt make it due to other commitment! The night ended around 10pm and darling hubby winning some bucks from the other guys!

Where is my money?

Alright! The day has finally come! Pay day! Everyone rushing to the banks withdrawing their hard-earn monies from their saving accounts! I followed few colleagues to a bank this morning to withdraw some money!! (boss not in, so we take some time off to do some personal thing! :p) Thought we could save some time in queue as we expecting longer queues during lunch time. Then again, what ever time of the day, it is still a long queue at the bank e-banking section! A guy in front of me taking his sweet time to withdraw money from not one card, but 2 cards! I guess he noticed that I am waiting at the back (very patiently actually, I did not look otherwise), he let me use after 2 withdrawals.

After done with my withdrawals, again the same guy taking over from me! Gosh! Now that make me notice who he is! Or what he is, to be exact! He must have so many ATM cards left! As waiting for my other colleague’s turn, I just stood at the side watching those people waiting in queues. As for that “many ATM cards” guy, he continued punching numbers and putting monies into envelopes! Wow! What a thick stack of monies in the envelope! Not that I want to watch but cannot help looking at him! How many victims' atm cards he holding this time round? Hmm.

Ok! Enough gossiping about other people’s business! I was just thinking to myself about the money that I have just withdraw! Gosh! I have a lot of things to get suddenly I cannot decide what to get? New purse (in replace to the stolen one), new handphone (although I got a new cheaper type of Nokia phone from hubby), and not to mention other household stuff! Not forgetting my credit cards, loans, household expenses and bills etc! What is left?? Nothing much, I presume! Every month the same old circle, all over again! Just today I realized that money is never enough! Not much to save and left for yourself after withdrawing the money from the ATM! Sigh! I have to say that the richest day of the month is also the poorest day! Why I said so? That was the day you see your account’s money increase from nil to something and you go excited! Excited you seeing the figure goes to 4 or 5 digits (for some people). Also on the same day, you get that 4 or 5 digits to pay out your debts! So it is also a paying day! So pay day equal paying day! And you back to square one! Get it?

Terung Assam

If you notice, I have been babbling about food since yesterday! Suddenly I feel like having a big feast, indulge in all those delicious food! Weekend is arriving, I couldnt wait to feast myself on good food...... LOL! Today, I would like to introduce a vegetable. It is called Terung Assam here.

I believe Terung Assam (Dayak Brinjal as spoken in Chinese Hokkien) is an indigenous vegetable of Sarawak! Sour in taste, it is usually cooked as soup! You will end up with a tasty, appetizing sourish soup that you would definitely love to pour into your rice! Other way to cook it is to stir fry it with anchovies and prawn paste. I never love sour dishes (I cant stand sour food, never been my best taste bud), but when mum cooks terung assam soup, I would not miss it for anything!

This photo was taken few weeks ago when I was back for dinner at my parents’ house! Mum cooked her usual terung assam soup. Sometimes she will add some curry-coated mackerel fishes in the soup, but most of the time, just a generous amount of brinjals to the soup is just enough to lift our appetite!!

Mid-day story

We were back from boss’s place about 1 hour ago. He invited us over for a weekly meeting cum lunch! LOL! His wife gave birth to a 2.58kg baby boy on Monday. (very small! Little gal when she was born, she weighed around 3.58kg!) He was on paternity leave so as not wanting to miss out on work, we were asked to go over and update him on weekly reports. We reached his place around 12.15pm. Along the way, we were talking whether we are going to have lunch first or meeting first! We were also betting whether we are going to have kacang ma or not for lunch as we assume it is a lunch in celebration of arrival of new baby. Food prepared by confinement lady? LOL! I was not so sure about other, but I was damn hungry as I hardly have a decent breakfast in the morning!

Once we reached there, we were ushered to the next apartment unit as it is currently empty! Boss using it for his temporary work station. We had our meeting there! Sigh! So the meeting went on and on and I never have thought it would take that long! It ended more than 1 hour later, and the boss’s wife SMSed and called him up to remind him that his staff were hungry! LOL! So, we rounded up the meeting and went to next door apartment. There we were greeted by a cute puppy at the doorstep! Boss bought a new puppy from the night market! She (the puppy) was few weeks old and a mix breed of the Hush Puppies dog and local dog! So cute!

Instead of having kacang ma, we had spaghetti for lunch! Spaghetti with sausages and minced chicken in Prego sauce! Wow! I wish I remember to take photo of the food! It was big portion, we hardly can finish our lunch! Besides lunch, we manage to have a peek at the new baby boy. He reminds me of my little gal when she was newly born! There we shared stories of our babies as most of my colleagues are mummies and daddy! All those baby talks make me stop thinking of 2nd one! Hahahah! Nightmare! Waking up at night for late night feeding, changing diapers, have to pacify baby to sleep, bathe her etc! Unless hubby get a maid or helper, definitely no 2nd one for time being! *wink*

One Pot Rice

I would like to share with you on this one-pot rice recipe. I tried cooking one-pot rice once before. One pot rice is very convenient, you can just add anything into your rice, and enjoy a nice lunch or dinner! Convenient if you are only cooking for 2 persons! Sorry no photos for this dish as I forgot to take photo of it! Too tasty that we devour the whole rice! *wink* I reckon it is a Hakka dish!
So, here are the ingredients and steps. Enjoy cooking:

Garlic, Ginger, Lean Pork, Rice (for 4 persons), long beans (cut into 1.5” length), Chinese mushrooms, soaked and cut into half, salt, light soy sauce and dark soy sauce

1. Slice the lean pork to your desired size. You can substitute with chicken meat if you are not pork lover.
2. Chop garlic, and slice ginger. Heat up enough oil in work. Once hot, add in chopped garlic and sliced ginger.
3. Once your kitchen is filled with nice fragrant of ginger, add in lean pork. Stir them well, and once the pork turned colour, add in long beans and mushroom. Stir for a while.
4. Add in uncooked rice. Mix all your ingredient. You can add some oil if you feel your rice drying up. Pour in light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and salt to taste. Stir again.
5. Transfer the ingredients to your rice cooker and cook like normal.
6. Once cook, give your food a stir before serving! You can still add your light soy sauce here!

Ssssssshhhh

Are you good at keeping secrets?? Especially bedroom secret? Or are you the type that loves to go around telling people how good you are at something etc?

Everyone always have secret from the past may it be good or bad, and it is always cherish in your heart. It was never easy to share your past secret with someone even that someone is close to you!

Few nights ago, hubby was sharing a secret with me on a close friend! Too intimate that I would not share it here as I don’t have to manipulate my friend’s name and it is unethical for me to do so at my friend’s back! We have been so close to this friend that we know his trait, past behavior and personal life! Not that we want to know, but my friend was so eager to tell his story that he got to tell someone! And that someone has to be my hubby! He is considered everyone’s best friend! A brother to look up and share secrets and problems! And guess who hubby shares the secret with? :p

I was telling another friend that why some people can never keep their mouths shut and keep their private life private?? (oops, now do that mean I also cannot keep a secret since I am babbling someone else' secret openly here!) Do you need to show off to others?? Have you ever think what happen or does it ever affect your other half and your relationship when you do so? How would you feel when you know that your other half telling others your sex life? How would you face them when you realize they knew your secrets? How would you confront your other half in turn? You feel betray, right? Who wouldn’t be? What would you do?

Are you good at keeping bedroom secret a secret??

Rejuvenating day

The weather is great! It has been great since early this week! Sunshine throughout the day! I just feel younger again. (I said younger, as I am not that old! :p) I had a wonderful time last weekend, relaxing at home, feasting and catching up with old friends. It feels like back to the good old day when I have no worries and commitment! Life was simply perfect for me then and I am not saying that it is not perfect now! LOL!

Here I am sitting in my office, looking at the window admiring the weather outside while writing this blog on how happy I am! Yes, sound weird as I should be worry with those work loads pilling in front of me and a colleague is leaving middle of next month! More responsibilities then! As for now, I am not thinking of those problems! Hubby SMSed me, asking me for a nice dinner tonight! Yes, it is salary day for him! Don’t know where the treat is, but I am looking forward to it! And? Movie day this Saturday! I got 2 free movie tickets, so inviting hubby for a movie this Saturday. We planning to watch 10,000BC! It has been showing for quite a while now, and we haven’t got the time to watch few weeks ago, due to my “unforeseen incident” and “inconveniences”. I hope the movie still on show this week! Otherwise we shall catch up on other movies that are on board!

12 words in my life

Interesting tag from Nyumix, where you have to present 12 words that mean something to us, and explain why. It took me a while to think of them, but in the end, I manage to shortlist those 12 words that truly mean something to me in life. In no particular order:
1. Family - without them, I would not be here in first place
2. Friends - they will always be there for me after my family. Without them, life is empty
3. God - there is always the Almighty up there that look after me.
4. Handphone - I am lost without one!
5. Computer - without it, life is slow and boring
6. Internet - to me, it is the "8th wonder" of the world that creates big impact in our daily life!
7. Blogging - where I meet new friends and it has become my newest hobby and crave!
8. Car - I feel helpless and trapped without one!
9. House – Where I feel warm and safe in it
10. Love - without it, life is full of hate and selfishness
11. Food - yum yum! Life is meaningful with those delicious and exotic delicacies, right?
12. Men - we cannot live with or without them!

Not going to tag any of you, so anyone feel free to do it!

It ain't ugly, it's my foot!

More than 2 weeks, and that is how my foot looks like!! Left the biggest wound that havent fully heal. Knee and toes' wounds have fully recovered and the dead hard skins have peeled off! As you can see here, my left foot especially the wound area looks slightly darker in shade. It rather awkward with one foot darker in shade than the other! LOL!
I am no longer required to go back to clinic for re-dressing. So I am playing doctor at home now.

My first time playing doctor, look at all those kits! Forceps, yellow bag, cotton balls, outer wraps etc. Every day I would have to clean the wound by peeling off the dead skin surrounding the wound with forcep and rub with some yellow lotion and re-dress before going off to office. Then in the evening, I would have to take the bandage off to let it air!

Weekend Menu #7

We were very lazy to go out over the weekend, just hanging in the house watching television and playing with little gal! I still have sore throat and cough, so prefer to stay indoor over the weekend! It was warm day yesterday, such good weather to bring laundry out to dry under the hot sun!

Too hot that we don’t feel like going out for lunch. So hubby started to look through the fridge and check out any edible items that need to be cleared out fast! LOL! Nothing much to be cleared out as mostly have been consumed when my parents-in-law were around few days ago!

These pork patties were bought few weeks ago at Choice Daily. Hubby bought them and he totally forgets about them till yesterday. So, here we go again, rice-less lunch! Pork patties with eggs and potato salad. Potato salad is complimentary from Jen! Anyone interested in the recipe, please email her! Thanks Jen for the salad. It is full of potatoes and onion and I never get bored of them! LOL! Just that I don’t quite like the raw onion, as each time I burped, I have onion smell! Hahaha!

One after another

Dear friends, my foot is on the road of recovery. It would still in bandage for next 2 days as the wound is still red and skin has not yet grow. (ok, I don’t want to narrate more as I don’t want to lose my appetite and make you lose yours! :p) Finally, I would no need to go back to clinic for dressing after today! I grew tired and impatient of going there! *laugh* Thank god hubby can claim his and family medical fee from his bank! A big hole in my pocket this month, spending so much on medical fee and other unnecessary stuff! Sigh!

I am able to walk more like a normal person now, at normal pace without dragging one foot all the way. High heels? Not at the moment! I am missing my heels, but I guess they have to be in the shoe rack for few more weeks before I have the confidence to walk in them!

As I was bragging about my foot recovery, I was hit with another epidemic. Yes, the cough, sore throat and flu are coming back!! I have been having sore throat since Thursday. Sigh! What a holiday for me and my little gal!! She still haven’t recover fully from her flu, she still have running nose for many days. Manage to see doctor today as I don’t want to spread the virus to her further. Regardless of my condition, I still manage to have some funs during the holiday. Window shopping and dinner on Thursday and visiting my parents with Little J on Friday afternoon! I've organised an old friends gathering at Sidewalk Cafe on Thursday night. Gathering cum farewell dinner for my old friend Jen who would be going to KL next month to join her babe! :) Oh! Going to miss her for sure! There will be a potluck at a friend's house tonight too! Oh great! I would not want to miss it although I am down with a "sexy voice" and occasional sneezing. Now, what is next for me?? aaaaaa….choooo! *sneeze*

Fun days

Guess what I am thinking of doing during the 2 days holiday? I am planning to have some fun with darling hubby at home. All right, not the type of fun I am talking (and I believe you are thinking the same too) but another type of fun! We are going to go online and hook ourselves into some online casino. We will be spending the whole day “hopping” from one casino to another, playing their online casino games from Black Jack, Slots, Craps and American Roulette. Thank god I have my parents-in-laws to look after little gal, so I would be able to have some personal times with hubby doing the things that we like.

So we will enjoy ourselves in front of the notebook, lazy in bed and play some online casino games and not thinking of the outside world! Yes! That is our plan for the holiday. What is yours??

2 days holiday

Yahoo! Tomorrow is a public holiday for the country. Nabi Muhammad S. A.W.’s birthday. I believe Sabah and Sarawak are more privilege this year as we are not only having 1 day holiday, but 2 days! Friday is Good Friday, so all Christians would be celebrating by fasting and going to churches. So, it would be a long holiday over here since Saturday is not a working day for some people!
Rose' World would like to wish everyone Happy Holiday, Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter Sunday.

Obsess with Beauty

Every person surrounding me is very conscious of their looks and bodies. My colleagues have been gym-freak, some even consume diet/slimming teas and others can go without lunches. In every woman, I believe we are working hard to maintain our good looks and bodies. It has becomeing a part and parcel of our life. So what do you think all those skincare, and cosmetic counters, and beauty parlor are for?? Strive to been beautiful is getting even intense with massive advertisements, and not forgetting community and peer pressure and competition.

As a woman, I admit that I am also beauty – conscious, cant go out without proper makeup, attires and matching accessories. I also endure into aerobic regime to maintain my figure and aiming at healthy lifestyle. So, if you ask me if we have overdo this “beautiful” element, it is how you see it.

It is healthy to know you are aware of your body and and look and how they are, provided you are not too obsessed with them. Stop comparing and competing with others. You cant have everything the next girl has. She may be filthy rich and can have all those wonder gadgets in the world, so you should settle for the 2nd best alternative (but this does not mean you have to settle for the cheap-skate no-brand items in the market! A No No!). As long as you feel confidence and proud of your body and looks, then this is a healthy element. Too obsessed with how you look, would not do you any good! How do you know if you are obsessed with your body and look? If you always stick to the mirror for more than 20 minutes undecided what colour to put on or going through the wardrobe undecided on what to wear for the past 30 minutes, then that is a big problem. Either you want to look perfect or prefer not going out at all!

How quirky am I?

Dora, dont worry, you sound very normal to me, not at all quirky. Hahaha!

The rules : Link to the person that tagged you. Post the rules on your blog. Share six un-important things/habits/quirks about your self. Tag 6 random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. Let these random people know that they are tagged by leaving comments in their blog. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.

Six Unimportant things/habits/quirks about myself:-

1 – I cant stand the sight of dust or rubbish on the floor! I will start to clean up the whole house just because of it!! (bad habit?? Or I am becoming clean freak?)
2 – When I go out, I must bring my handphone, or I feel lost!
3 – I always have the feeling that my handphone is ringing when it is not! (oh no, it this becoming phobia or what?)
4 – I will run away when I see a lizard
5 – I will have headache when I heard people scratching their fingernails on the black board! Aaarrrggg!

How quirky are you?

A painful entry

It has been a pitiful weekend for me last weekend. I finally was dragged by hubby to see my family doctor last Friday night after my foot still swollen and red. It was infected and inflamed, I think my foot size increased by 1 size! LOL!

Since Friday night, I have been visiting my family doctor to put some dressings on my foot and knee. It was a painful trip. A touch of the liquid on the wounds almost take my breaths away! As usual I got scolded by my doctor and nurses for not resorting for an early treatment.

The doctor decided to cut off the yellowish surface on my foot yesterday. Those were dead skin with dirts and bacteria. The less-than-1-minute “minor operation” almost killed me as I was panting with heavy sighing and cold sweats running down my face although the consultation room was cold like freezer! Doctor did not give any painkiller injection as my foot was swelling pretty badly yesterday! I still can feel the cutting of the skin with scissor right now! Urg!! Now the foot would be in bandage for a week till new skin cover up the fresh red wound! I don’t want to go through that again! Even after Caesarian operation few years back, I were able to endure the pain! How come I couldn’t handle this little pain well, hubby asked. Felt like slapping him that time, but luckily for him, I was unable to move and he was ushered out from the room with little gal in his arm! Just fortunate I did not kick the doctor and nurse as well! LOL!

My leg should be recovering by this week! Right now I don’t want to think of the scar it could make on my foot after it heals! Sigh! We did not go to the beach last weekend since my leg cannot be in touch with water and rather inconvenient for me to walk around with bandages on my foot and knee. I was resting almost the whole 2 days in the bed. Hopefully I would be able to recover in time this weekend for the nice beach outing that hubby promised me!

Huang Ti Hua (aka Emperor Flower)

I love flowers! I love roses, lilies, orchids and daisies. Now I have grown an interest in another type of flower.

Have you seen an Emperor plant before? I have and the first time I saw it, I was fascinated by its big white bud.

My mum has a pot and it was growing “fruitfully” every year with its majestic flowers. 9 flowers grown out from the leaves last Saturday. I remember to take some photographs of the flower buds when I was there. Sorry, I didn’t stay overnight to watch the buds open up. The next day, the flowers die off. I remember my mum said when she was young, she and few aunties and uncles will stay outdoor surrounding the plant to watch the buds bloom and die off in a matter of minutes!!

It is a myth (or belief) that Emperor plant bring good luck to the growers. So the more flowers it has the prosperous you are!! It is also to show whether you have green fingers (hands?) because it is not easy to grow it. As for me, I dont have green fingers, so I prefer to enjoy looking at my mum's flower garden rather than growing one! ;p I said I love flowers right, that does not mean I love to grow them! LOL.

How bias we are!

Our office conversation was shifted to men (as usual, it is always a hot topic) yesterday afternoon. We were having a company lunch when a male colleague commented on one of a colleague’s food (I named her B). One colleague (I named her A) was commenting on how prejudice we are to male clients. The conversation goes as follow:

(After B exchange a few remark with the male colleague)
A: How come you did not continue to talk to him?
B: Nothing to talk to him
A: So, what if he is good looking? You will entertain him?
B: That would be different story. I would try to engage in conversation with him, no need him to start conversation with me.

Other story goes like this:

A: I did not realize that he is XX.
B: How come you didn’t know him? He always come to our office.
A: It is not that he is good looking or what, how can I remember him??

So, here we go. Isn’t it bias for us women to judge men by looks?? Sorry to say this but it is always good for men if they are good looking, handsome or outstanding in character to have women remember them. Looks can leave long impression in women' minds! :p

Fancy some slots games?

During my last trip to Genting Highland, I manage to try my luck on some of the slot machines in its casino. Hubby was busy at the black jack table, where as I busy occupied my time with some of Genting's slots machines. It is very easy to play slot games. Simply put in your dime, push back the button (or handle) and see what is your luck for the day!! Unlike other casino games like poker cards, you can play slot games all by yourself.

Instead of flying over to Genting for its slot games, I can now indulge in online slots games at Online Slots City at any time of the day! They even have the list of best online slots casinos for you to choose from to play your online slot! So, what are you waiting for?? Indulge yourself in some online slots with just a simple click of your hand!

Chicago 7

Anyone tried the food at Chicago 7 at Rock Road? Remind me of Sugarbun once I stepped into the food outlet. Their specialty is broaster chicken. So, don’t expect much if you are not fried chicken lover. Just enjoy your fries, fried chickens and burgers. (psst, if you ask me, I still prefer KFC or McD's) *wink*

Price range for set meals from RM6.00 and above. The portion? The chicken parts are slightly smaller. Wonder are they using spring chicken instead?? Hahaha!

Weekend Beach Retreat

I am day dreaming again. I just cant wait for the weekend to come. I want to rest, I want to stay in bed doing nothing (if I can help it), I want to have hubby cook lunch and dinner for me! LOL! Now you know why I said I am day dreaming……..

Hubby mentioned on going to the beach over the weekend for a BBQ. Wow! It has been ages I didn’t have BBQ and also going to the beach! I am sure little gal would be looking forward to this outing. The last time she had been to a beach, she was still learning to take her baby step. This time round, I am pretty sure she cant content herself. Imagine her running around and playing with the sands and water. :)

Alright, enough day dreaming. Firstly I hope I am well enough to go with the condition of my foot. So far my foot is doing well, but I would not want to exaggerate it. Secondly, I sure I would not have much rest this weekend! What else but to look after little gal. :p

Insensitivity

Why don’t they settle their dispute in calm and civilized way?? Instead of raising their voices and confront in front of their children, wouldn’t it be better to speak their hearts out in calmer way?

One demand settlement of money and another blamed the other for not helping out during difficult times. Both are hubby’s cousins. Both are brother and sister by blood. The brother blaming sister for not settling money owed to him and the sister and family are blaming him for not pity on them as they having difficult times.

I cant blame the sister in this case for the brother’s insensitivity. Brother is filthy rich, and yet still ask money back from his poor sister. Damn selfish and inconsiderate if you ask me.

Who is to be blamed? Definitely not their poor children. Now the brother’s daughter has to put up a temporary shelter at our house, she has been for the past 1 week. Before this, she used to stay at the aunty’s house as she is furthering her study here. But with aunty and father arguing over silly matters, she has no choice but to move out. Temporary staying over, while waiting to move to a rented house with some friends end of the month.

Never really understand them. I may not know the head and tail of the story, but definitely a small silly matter should not affect a good relationship of a brother and sister. Anyone agree with me? I just hope that they will settle their disagreement soon. As for us been the neutral party, we just listen and do not side any party! It is always hard to be peacemaker. Better to be a listener instead.

Every month, hubby and myself would be busy sorting out our credit card statements, checking through the details and paying up the outstanding or minimal amount at respective financial institutions. It is becoming a monthly routine for us. Hubby himself has more than 1 credit card. When come to managing money and credit, hubby is not good with it. He has never manage to settle all his credit cards as he keeps on accumulating more and more every day.

You can select the credit cards that you find suitable to your current needs and approval is unbelievably speedy. So for those with less than perfect credit, check out what Bad Credit Offer can offer you.

Here are the rules:

1. Post YOUR photo wearing red, may it be a red top, bottom, the least would be red accessories if you hate wearing red… If you can’t find one, you still have an option. Either post your Significant Other’s photo or your child’s photo, if you have one. Of course, they should be wearing red.

2. Let us know the reason why you were wearing red that particular day. Was it your birthday? Is red your fave color or was it the shirt that you first saw in your closet that day?

3. Tag 3 people close to your heart. By the way, they have to be in your blogroll. No cheating heart pleaseeeeeeee!

4. Once you’re tagged, could we please keep it going - just for this month?

END HERE.

I dont have many red blouses or dresses. Not my favourite colour. :) I manage to get one photo of my little daughter when she was around 8 months wearing this lovely samfu. Bought by hubby from Thailand, it fitted her just nice. One of her Chinese New Year clothing. Look how happy she was in this red samfu!?

Ok, now I would like to pass along this Tag of Red to 3 friends. I dont know they love red colour or not, but it is interesting to find out, dont you think so? :)

Since Then......

It has been 3 days since that unfortunate incident. For my dear readers and friends, please do not worry yourself. I am doing pretty well and still in process of recovering from the state of shock and unbelieving. I am learning to be careful and be more aware of my surrounding. Even going out from the house and the look of the front, bring back memories of the incident.

I look like a cripple, hopping around. I hurt my left foot pretty badly, now it is infected and inflamed. I didn’t go to doctor directly, just wash it with deltol and rub with some Chinese oilment. I only went to see doctor yesterday when it hurts much to walk around and my foot started to swell.

I am back to work today. I know I should rest my foot but been alone at home makes thing worse. I am not usually a lag-back type of person. I just have to keep myself busy and moving around the house. So, if you expect me to rest at home, I would start to think of works to do to make myself busy. So, I guess coming back to work is much better. Having my good colleagues around me make me feel more secure and comfortable. At least, they can help me make some tea, Milo, bring some files to my tables and pack my lunch instead of me walking around! Hahahaha! That makes me feel like a boss for a day!!

Victim of crime of money

Read the title properly! Not victim of crime of passion! How I wish! *wink* A woman involved in snatch theft during the voting day on Saturday. How ironic is it. After casting her rightful vote, she was happily driving back home and was about to lock the car porch gate after getting out from the car! And suddenly everything happens in a flash light!

Sigh! Alright, not to keep you suspend anymore, I better let the cat out of the bag. Firstly, the victim mentioned was me! Yes, ME!! The crime was snatch theft! So 1 + 1 equal to 2! Now do you get it??

My handbag has been snatched right in front of my house in a broad day light yesterday around 130pm. I was about to lock the gate when suddenly I heard a footstep and when I look up, he was right in front of me. The next thing I know, he snatched my handbag. I put on a good fight (I am proud of myself, but now thinking of it, it is rather scary!!), holding on to my bag and screamed. Only when the handbag strap broke off and my sister-in-law right at my side, he got away in a motorbike (plate no Q**1476) with an ally waiting for him. #@*%@! Please excuse my language. In my 30+ years on earth, this is my first encounter with snatch theft, and I am been the victim here!! I hope this is the first and last experience.

It happened so fast. I cant see the snatcher’s face as he used full helmet, and wore brown jacket. His partner in crime only appeared in front of us when my handbag strap loose and neighbours started to come out from their houses. What can I do. Been a fighter, I put up with the scuffle, but still lost in the end. Not only lost my handbag, I also hurt myself, ended with bruises and scratches on my left foot, knee and right arm. It never came to my mind that at that time he may have knife or other weapon that could do me harm. Now that I got over the shock, it really scared the shit out of me! What happen if he did have a knife and use it on me??

I have made police report and cancel my credit cards, and ATM cards. Lost my IC, driving license, those plastic cards, cash, handphone, and digital camera (if you remember, I bought it just middle of January! Sob, sob, sob). I will be taking 1 day leave tomorrow to re-do my important document. For this post, it took me quite some times to decide whether I should pen it down here or not. In the end, I have decided to go ahead with the posting, with my objective in creating awareness of this snatch theft crime and urge all Malaysian especially women to be extra careful.

The world is not longer safe, even when you are within your house compound!! Now, that one of the reasons we bought our new house in the gated and guarded community area. For Kuching community, you would know that the so-called gated and guarded area is in MJC. Plus with auto gate and alarm, I wouldn’t believe that those things would happen in my new house!! Now I cant wait to move into the new house!! I found out from the police during my report that my current housing area (BDC) is a red area (prime location) for snatch thieves and other theft! I remember a neighbour lost his Kancil parked outside house after putting some groceries in the house! All within a minute. Not to mention another neighbour lost his motorbike in middle of the night, screaming around waking everybody up in their sleep! So for those staying in BDC and nearby neighbourhood, please be extra careful.

Just damn bad luck! Just when I got over with hubby’s loss (he lost his car early February), it appears that my good luck also running low. I told hubby that we should go to churches, temples and other religious houses to pray for our luck and blessing!! Double bad luck within a month span is just too much. Unbelievable, don’t you think so? Not too worry, I am not feeling sad, just very angry at all those $#@! assholes that only waiting to pound on those innocent and weak victims out there, yet they can get away with the crime. Don’t they have better things to do??? Making troubles for other people and creating a bad image to the country.

So for the new MP for Kuching (as well as other MPs), please address this issue seriously! There must be some preventive measure to stop this crime and bring those guilty to justice, and impose serious punishment to them. There have been increasing rate in snatch theft cases involving women victims, and in the past, if you remember, some of the victims even succumbed to their death after falling and hitting their heads on the road. Most cases are unsolved as no suspects have been arrested and put to justice. I was lucky that I only lost my valuables, not my precious life. Otherwise, it is just damn not worth it to die like that! Sigh!

Weekend Menu #6

A simple and versatile dish of all time!!

When think of what to cook and eat at home with not much food ingredient to use, I guess most of you would opt for the simplest cooking in life! Or rather for those that lazy to think of what to cook, maybe you would call that fast food number and request for food delivery services! LOL!

As I only cook for 2 person (hubby and myself) most of the times, I usually opt for simple cooking. Nothing extravagant. The simpler it is, the better for me! I am lazy to go through those recipe books of mine and start reading and following its step-by-step procedure.

So, here I am again, cooking the simplest dish! I believe the Chinese have a great fondness of fried rice. When mention the name ‘fried rice”, you would start drooling at the thought of warm rice with eggs, char siew and vegetables. It is also pretty versatile dish in the sense you can have it anytime of the day, may it be for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even supper! I mostly love my fried rice with anchovies, long beans, egg and char siew. Other common condiment used would be salt, pepper and soy sauce.

As I was faced with lack of ingredients in my kitchen this morning and do not want to waste the overnight rice, I have to think of a creative way to make my fried rice appetizing enough for dear hubby. He is one hell of a choosy eater. He was not like that when we dated, but I guess I have been pampering him too much with my cooking that now he started to demand more of my food!! LOL.

For this weekend fried rice, I used eggs, anchovies and spring onion as my ingredients. Simple right? Too simple, I dont think I need to provide recipe for this dish. Just base on your perference on what you want to add in to your rice. My fried rice looks rather dull, not colourful enough! You can hardly see the eggs as I stir and pour them onto the rice to coat it, turn the rice into golden colour. For added flavour, add in salt, pepper and soy sauce to taste! Voila! Time to indulge in my fried rice!!

Counting to Election Day

If you would like to know how the election fever doing in Kuching, you can check out at Kennysia.com. He has also set up a quiz showing result on who you should vote this time round. Out of curiosity, I just cant help myself but to get down to the quiz too. Just to make sure I have make a right decision on who I should give my vote to!!

What a weekend!

Not much of a weekend for me this week as I would be working on Saturday and Sunday, then stretching till Tuesday before getting my off day next Wednesday. I am not complaining as a lot of outstanding works need to be done. Mostly in a peace and quiet environment without much disturbance either from boss asking for this and that or phone calls. Am I glad to work on Saturday and Sunday!

Eiks! Now you are wondering, am I okay or sick? Where in the world have you heard of people feeling happy to work on weekends?

Don’t worry, I am fine. I don’t mind working on weekend, as I know that beside working, I can do some multi-tasking too. Blogging, blog hopping, browsing on interesting websites!! What else? Hahaha!

You must be thinking “What!! Company paying you for all those personal tasks?”

Now, once a while, staff would need a time to wind down while working, don’t you think? They are human too! We cannot expect them to work without taking break once a while, right? Productivity doesn’t usually equal to long working hours. It is quality not quantity that is important here. So once a while, we would loaf around. Again, that does not mean we are not doing our work!

Alright, enough loafing. Time to get back to work! :) I know some of you are looking forward to the coming weekend! Yes, today is Friday! And guess every Malaysian know what day is tomorrow right? Yes, the 12th General Election is tomorrow, so all Malaysian, do come out in full force and vote your rights. Vote for a peaceful and stronger Malaysia. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Quickie

A colleague suggested on having lunch in office as lazy to go out under the hot sun! Yes! The sun is out after missing for the past 3 days.

So, not to think of where and what to eat, we just try this new Bento delivery services that establish recently in Kuching. This food delivery service is called Green Bento. We ordered our food around 10.30 and it was delivered to us just slightly 20 minutes before 12noon.
They have Asian and Western dishes for you to choose from. Been not that adventurous in food, I opt for Asian menu with rice. A Chicken Chop with rice and 3 side dishes. I was expecting chicken chop with gravy (either brown, pepper or mushroom sauce) but turn out to be fried chicken chop instead. A bit disappointed but what the heck! RM5.50 only. Reasonable price for me as the portion is just nice.

Rome girl

I was cooling myself down after a heated confrontation with a snobbish client. So to cool down, I just do the thing I like, i.e. blog hopping! So, I just knock the door of Dora and she has this interesting personality quiz in store for her visitors. :) She always have wonderful tags and unexpected surprises in her blog. As for this particular quiz, it shows which city in the world do you belong to and your personality trait. Want to know what city do you belong to? Try it out yourself!
As for myself, I am a Rome girl! I love Rome and hope that someday I would be able to visit its beautiful and ancient city. Now, where does that cappuccino come in? I am not a coffee lover, maybe I can sub with tea instead? *wink*

You're a big city soul with a small town heart

Which is why you're attracted to the romance of Rome

Strolling down picture perfect streets, cappuccino in hand

And gorgeous Italian people - could life get any better?

Bla bla bla

How can a person especially man talk non stop over the phone? It was like having a vacuum cleaner at the end of the line while you have to endure the pain of listening to it! I consider it a noise pollution!! A threat to my sanity and test of my patience.

I have to tolerate a snobbish tenant, calling me up after receiving a letter from me! Blame on my boss! Suddenly he wants this policy implemented although has been agreed by previous boss. Now the tenant is going to knock at the office door demanding explanation from me! Just fortunate that tenant is making phone call rather than angrily stepping into the office! I don’t think I can handle his antic face to face without blowing my top!!

I always thought that men are polite species especially when talking to the opposite sex. Some more, keep talking the same points all over again and again, like you don’t get them in first place and we need to be reminded again and again! That makes me feel stupid and I don’t know how to do my job! Is my judgment wrong? Just to get their own way, they just don’t care anyway!

I am not against men or a sexist (I respect them as I respect my father, brother and hubby), but sometimes they can be pretty annoying. Women can be ruthless too if they want, but if you ask me to choose on either to deal with male or female customers, I would love to deal with male customers. Female customers can be “bitchy” sometimes and they tend to make your life difficult! Enough saying, or I may be killed innocently if any of my customers happen to bump into this personal blog of mine!

Casino experiences

You know what? Suddenly I miss Chinese New Year!! It may been 1 month since Chinese New Year, but I still miss all the fun and excitement. I missed the home-cooked food, cookies, relatives and friends visiting us and all those gossips and catching up around the house! Just happy to be celebrating Chinese New Year in Kuching this time round.

Another thing that I miss about CNY is gambling! Unfortunately I didn’t get down to trying some luck on gambling this year. I remember in past years we would gather at a friend’s house and gambling till wee hour at night. A group of 6 – 8 people playing Black Jack. If more people, we will open 2 tables instead of 1. Talking about the excitement of winning some buck!

Not anymore since I am occupied with a young daughter. So guess what I do when I suddenly have an itchy hand?? I just go to Online Casino. It is one of the best online casino I have ever visited. I love to visit Rushmore Casino and click on its Black Jack. It is rated as one of the Top 20 reviewed online casinos and received good rating from players around the world.

So when you are bored or have nothing to do, why don’t just sign up with the online casino and indulge yourself on some casino experiences!

My first gold card

It was another busy day for me. A big meeting with 50+ people from the shopping centre since 9.30am and just ended few minutes ago. I was nervous like hell to present in front of those big crowd. Throughout my 8+ years service here, this is considered my 2nd time doing a speech in front of a big audience. You can imagine the butterflies I having before and during the meeting, but luckily everything went well and I didn’t faint during my speech! *wink*

To brighten up my day, I was presented with another interesting award from Hye! Thank you so much, my friend. This interesting award is called Blogging Friends Forever (BFF) Gold Card Award. Being single

Oh boy! When someone asked me, do I miss being single, I was blank for a while. Then slowly the memories of singlehood struck me and yes, how much I miss it! Alright, I have no regret for getting married and have children now, but once a while, how I wish I could have some fun that I had while I was single. Don’t every mothers wish they have them too once a while?

What I miss for not been single, I can list it down and the list will never end. For the sake of this post, I will just list down few main points that I find singlehood irresistible.

Time for yourself
I have all the time in the world for myself. I can do what ever I want, put on what ever clothing I like, and go to places that I want without worry on other people. I can make my own decision right now and then. It is totally different story now that I am a wife and a mother. Even when I went out occasionally, at the back of my mind, I kept thinking of what happening to my little gal at home, and wonder hubby worrying about my whereabout, etc. My body is outside, but my heart is at home!!

Your own money
You have to share your money with your partners. I don’t know about other couple, but I am a type of person that believing in helping out at the financial matter. I don’t believe in hubby being the bread winner in the family. So, blame on my principle, now I have to be money wise. I no longer can spend my own money on what I like, such as clothing, skincare and cosmetic products when I was a single woman. After chipping in my portion to pay for monthly bills, credit card statements, necessary expenses, there is much left for myself and not to mention saving!!

Beauty Sleep
I miss those afternoon naps when I don’t have any worries before I got married. Now?? Someone will jump on my bed or scratch my face without giving any peace to me! LOL! Sometimes I wonder, am I getting a beautiful energetic daughter or a mischievous monkey. What have I done wrong in the past to deserve this punishment! LOL! Alright the scenario is not that bad, just that I am complaining of lack of sleep and rest from time to time.

Minus the above cons, there is nothing bad for been married and having family. It is good to come home with hubby waiting at the doorstep welcoming you with hugs and kisses. It is also satisfying to have a child of your own that calling you "mummy" and saying “I love you” at the end of the day. But sometimes, how you wish things are slightly different, don't you? *wink*
