Attention crazed moments

Is it because I do not show enough affection to her that result in her too clingy to me? Or is it her sign of insecurity?

I experienced this behavior change in my daughter lately. She has been begging me to hug or carry her at home, even when I was not free or occupied with house chore. Even when going down the staircase she will cling to my leg and ask me to carry her (“mummy, pow pow”). Unlike in the past, she was eager to go down the staircase on her own, counting 1 to 10 along the way. Now she is getting too clingy that I can’t get out of her sight for few seconds.

Is it because she is becoming a spoiled brat, always getting what ever she want in the past? I am a little concerned here as I don’t want my little gal to be too reliable on me. I try to reason with myself thinking that maybe she missed me after long day at baby sitter’s house and she wants some attention and affection from her mummy. However I think she wanted more than that. She used to be independent and cheerful girl, but lately she switched from naughty to nuisance. She has become a dreadful cry-baby, crying when I am out of her sight. She cries and throws a tantrum when she could not get her way. She would not listen to any reasoning and even reject companion from her daddy or aunty. She used to play by herself and leave me alone, but I guess she is bored with her toys that she never care to go to her toy basket any more when ever we reach home.

I believe my little gal is growing up and have her own mindset and rebellious bone, never listen to reasoning and coaxing but is this a natural stage of children behavior change of her going to turn 2 years old? I do hope that she will grow out of it soon. Soon she will be going to Pre-school and get to know more friends and learn new stuff. I hope she will be more independent by then.

don't worry Rose. kids at this age are like that....clingy and pampered. two of my kids went thru that stage. but, my son is still very clingy even he's 3 now. :p

Even though I don't have kids, I've seen and been around many. Kids go through phases, and this is just one of the many phases that she will go through as she grows up. I don't think she need to worry too much. :)

And oh, make sure you enjoy the attention she is giving you before she's all grown up and really ready to be independent!

Oh i think this is "the rebellious" stage. But according to the old folks, they believe it's the sign of baby no.2 is on the way if a kid is becoming extra clingy than usual! So which one applies to u?...

Hi gals! thanks for your comment and consolation. At least i know that she is going thru a stage! Hahah! Er, Dora, I never know about such old folk tale leh, sure or not 2nd on the way? heheh! But i heard advice from older ladies said that in order to keep her from not too clingy, they advise i go for 2nd one! Once the 2nd come, she wouldnt be too clingy! True or not?? someone can enlighten me on this??
