Tourist in my city

It was Sarawak Independence Day. 22 July.

We spent our morning in the old part of the city.  I felt like a tourist in my own city. We covered a small part of Kuching Waterfront and Main Bazaar.

It was a cold and windy morning as it rained the night before.  A very nice day for a walk. We parked our car in front of Hilton Hotel and walked along the riverbank. The kids enjoyed the river view, gloomy sky, saw some sampans and boat-alike in the river and what across the riverbank.

It wasn't jam when we were in the city regardless of the Sukma games and ceremony of the Sarawak Day. We did bumped into traffic polices who busy directing traffic around.

From the Kuching Waterfront, we went across the road to Main Bazaar.  Most souvenir shops were opened that day so we went to one and have a look around.  So many souvenirs to see and choose from.

After a short stop here, we walked to Kai Joo lane which is behind the Main Bazaar for our breakfast in one of our favourite Chinese coffee shops.

Thanks for sharing with us here.. you know something? When it comes to tourism, sometimes the tourists know more than us locals especially when food is involved! hahahaa

I've done India Street and Gambier...and also Padungan. Next trip, I will do Carpenter Street and Main Bazaar. I enjoy doing this, going on walks down memory lane.

What a lovely way to spend the day. I love sightseeing nearby places. I've been saying it for years - I need to go to Kuching one day!

This looks like a nice place. The thing with being locals is we always don't see the necessity to actually visit places of interest in our own area. That is the same with me. I think you or Arthur knows KL better than I do. Haha.

Beautiful view especially the riverbank view from your morning walk with your family. I like being tourist in our own place too. Need to keep up with these places in case we have visitors.
