These were the places that we brought our West Malaysian friends to when they were here last month.
We went to these places the next day after an enticing seafood dinner and a good night sleep. Click on the links for more stories of our past adventures in these places.
First thing first. Breakfast! Kolo mee in Huan Loke Cafe, Padungan of course.
Matang Wildlife Centre where we could see animals and nature jungle and a short stop at the stream.
We visited a Malay friend and enjoyed her homemade kek lapis and home cooked dishes such daging masak hitam, rendang kuning and ketupat.
Then we went to Bau to visit the Wind Cave.
After that, we drove to Sirikin but being the 2nd day of Raya, only few stalls opened.
Then we dropped by the Tasik Biru, Bau and caught a boat ride on the beautiful man-made blue lake. People believe there is still some gold underneath the used-to-be gold mine.
For dinner, we had it in Siniawan town before we called it a day.

Grilled sambal stingray
Ginger chicken rice
Fried kway teow
It has been a tiring day but we surprised ourselves by going to many places in a day. Started around 9 am with breakfast and by the time we reached home in the evening, it was after 8pm. A day well spent!

I've not been to any of those places but long ago, my friends and I went to Bau and they climbed up the Wind and Fairy Caves - I just waited at the lake. That time, very dangerous - in the 70's.
Those animals are beautiful. It makes me sad to see them in cages though.
What a nice excursion and makan too!
you all really went to so many places in just 1 day. the o chien looks tasty!
Those are amazing places.
And the food are really making me hungry right now.

The Tasik Biru is so scenic and so biru!
This is what I like, visiting places and tasting new food! Love the view of the lake!
Poor thing the orang utan is in a cage. These days, animals are kept in spacious enclosures where they can roam free and not cages. I do hope Matang Wildlife Centre will do something about the welfare of these animals. They are such beautiful creatures to live in cages :(
If I see the Sarawak Kek Lapis, I sure can't resist the temptation, hehe...
followed your travel in FB. So glad you all had so much fun
I like the O-chien and sambal stingray, wow the man made blue lake looks so beautiful and tranquil, like overseas like that, glad you had fun visiting and tasting different food
The Orang Utan looks so sad inside the cage
I always going back Kuching but shame to say this, so many places I haven't been yet like Matang Wildlife Centre , Wind Cave and more.
This is a great post for my reference cause next time I know where to bring my friends when they are coming over to Kuching.
I saw the hornbills at the KL Bird Park and fell in love with this friendly birds which are not afraid of humans. They would bravely land on your dining table and tip toe to be closer to us!
