Can't help craving for you

Have you ever feel like as age is catching up, you tends to crave and want to eat this and that? Is it age? Or is the hormone as the culprit?

But luckily it isn't always the case for me every day. Or I wonder how could I spend to satisfy my craving all the times.

For instance, on one Tuesday, councidently Suituapui was ranting about ice cream and I thought it has been a while I did have ice-cream. And that afternoon I went for a tea break with a girl friend and kids in Sweet Ice Cafe, MJC. Somehow while looking through the menu, the fruit ice special caught my eyes and without hesitation, I ordered to share with Jamie.

He finished the ice cream before it melt while I enjoyed the shaved ice and mixed fruits. Luckily I did not fancy strawberry ice-cream. But I did get my dose of ice cream as I bought these tubes few days later. *wink*

On one wonderful Sunday with my dear sister, we went for a hearty breakfast that we seldom had chance to do and enjoy in the past. She was so dear to accompany me and kids to a breakfast buffet.

As much as I love to eat, somehow my tummy no longer could accept as much intake compared to many years ago. Tummy is getting smaller.

And on another Sunday, I suddenly have a craving for spicy food. Can't blame me. It has been weeks since I tasted laksa, curry and sambal as I were sick for 2 whole weeks and then went easy due to my tooth extraction.

So when I were all well, my hubby brought me and kids to this shop. I knew it is famous for the Melaka chicken rice balls but I heard that they started to serve nasi lemak. And you guess correctly. I simply have to have nasi lemak to satisfy my craving for spicy food.

The nasi lemak looked very "kampung" with kangkung, crispy anchovies, spicy and sourish sambal, half portion of hard-boiled egg and sliced cucumber.

Not everyday I would be going for something strong to tease my tastebud. Sometime I would just go for a simple Chinese mixed soup. Just like this one from Happy Food Court, 7th Mile (Kota Sentosa).

Full of minced meat balls, springy meat balls and fishballs, blood cubes, livers and soft beancurds other than the vegetables and salted mustard slices. All goodness in a big bowl for RM4.

Hmm, what would be my next craving?? Something sour maybe? *wink*

Green, red and everything lighted

A lovely neighbour (whose son happened to be Jay's kindergarden and now classmates in school) gave us these 2 beautiful jelly mooncakes last week.

My neighbour's daughter made them herself after learnt from an aunt the day before.

It was so nice of her to gave us the jelly mooncakes to try. Thank you very much.

Green and red jelly mooncakes. The green one is pandan flavour while the red one is red velvet. Not too sweet and it was nice to be eaten while they were chilled.

Last night I brought the kids over to a friend's house so they can play and light some lanterns with my friend's kids.

Kids + lanterns = fiery fun!

Tonight? Not much of a celebration. Kids have taekwondo class so don't think we would be playing any lanterns tonight. And not sure what time hubby reaches home from the long drive from Sri Aman this evening.

Happy Mid-Autumn, everyone.

A private lunch

After our church service, we went to this cafe cum car wash in Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho.

The car wash was packed with cars in need of wash. So we went to the cafe which is named The G Cafe for lunch. What does the G stand for? I am not too sure. But one thing for sure, we were looking forward to try this new place out. Some place new to celebrate Jamie's birthday that day.

The cafe was prettily decorated and set up. Very chic and rustic looking on one part while another part of the dining place was very comfy with low coffee tables and sofas for that relaxing dining experiences.

One would need to order and pay for your food and drink in the counter. Food and drinks will be sent over to your table by the waitress.

Hmm. The menu looked good to me. Guess what was our order??

One part of the dining area

Nice candle holder on the table

Cool wall

Nice spot for a photoshooting

No tables available downstair so we went upstair to our table. And guess what, Pokemon fever was here too! I know Pikachu but not sure of the other one.

Any Pokemon fans here?

View of the downstair from our room

The only table available was in this private room. Cool. We had the whole room to ourselves. Sorry ah, no one was invited. *wink*

And the kids can enjoyed themselves all they want in here.

Happy

Live, Laugh, Love

Cards

While waiting for the food, the boys entertained themselves with the UNO cards.

It did not take that long for our food to be served. First to arrive was this super delicious Aglio-olio. We specially requested no chilli so the kids can get to enjoy it.

Aglio olio RM25

They were generous with the mussels. And I did ate most of them since hubby knew I love mussels so much.

Then we were served with this pretty and appetizing House Salad. Hubby thought mine was better than this! *wink*

House Salad RM16

And another must order was this Fish N Chip. Surprisingly it was good.

Fish N Chip RM22

I love the tartar sauce. Did not taste the coleslaw though. The fish was good, flaky and crispy. Not overly covered in batter.

That was it. A nice family lunch in a private room while our car was in the car wash.

Operating hour : 10am to 12 midnight

Sharing is caring

It is Jamie's 3rd birthday today. And since it is a Sunday, I requested for a little prayer and birthday song singing in his Sunday school this morning. Like this, he can shared his special day with his little friends.

Youngest darling in the house

I bought refreshment and packed goodies bags for the kids as well. Snack time is one of the kids' favourite time and it is also when they are at their most co-operative moment.

Goodies for the kids

After the church, we had a birthday lunch for the birthday boy. Post on that lunch is coming up.

In few months time Jamie will be going to kindergarden. I am excited and anxious for him. For now, I am going to enjoy the mum-son time with him before he starts schooling.

Happy birthday, Jamie!

No doubt

This is Coffee Girl's preferred Sarawak laksa place and I were delighted to try it out with my hubby.

Actually it was just a suggestion from me yesterday morning to come here since we were at the city area and hubby needed to pick his car from the service centre. My first time having breakfast in The House Cafe.

Alfred's laksa

The House Cafe is located (corner shop) next to Wisma Mahmud (where CMS HQ is) Padungan area, which is quite hidden and I wouldn't know of its existence if no one told me of it.

The cafe is clean and well maintained. It was packed with mostly office executives when we were there as it was a weekday. There are few stalls selling local favourite such as kolo mee, Foochow fried but I were aiming for Sarawak laksa from Alfred's laksa stall that morning.

No doubt, true to what Coffee Girl wrote, the Sarawak laksa was very good. Flavourful, addictive and satisfying.

RM8 for this bowl of Sarawak laksa

Other places usually served sambal with lime but not here. It is cincaluk with lime. Oh my! Fragrant but I always like my laksa as the way they are but sometimes I just squeeze the lime juice in the laksa before mix the broth.

My verdict? It was good. No doubt about that. The spiciness and saltiness were right for me. So nice to go with a warm cup of teh c.

My boy had a bowl of kolo mee. He said it was good. It looked good to me but I thought it was a bit oily. Nevertheless, Jay finished the whole bowl with a little help from Jamie.
Kolo mee

Now I know another good place for a good bowl of Sarawak laksa. Option of RM6, RM8 and RM11 per bowl. We tried the RM8 laksa. Wouldn't mind coming back here if we are in the city centre.

New place

This coffee shop used to be called "Kim Yu" before it revamped and changed its name to "Sun Li Ting Cafe" not so long ago. It is opposite my favourite chicken rice shop.

We have never been there as a family even when it was known as Kim Yu back then. The parking in this 3rd Mile market is a pain in the ass and other than its tasty and herbal kueh chap, we did not know what is good there. I have been there once with a friend to eat its kueh chap many years ago.

So last Sunday we went to this new place for breakfast before our church service. Wanted to try new place and something different than going to the same places.

They have few stalls namely Sri Aman vinegar noodle, kampua, Foochow fried, laksa, fast food and kueh chap.

My boys had kampua from the kampua stall. RM3.50 per plate, same price as our kolo mee now. Look and taste very authentic Sibu Kampua.

Yours truly initially wanted laksa but when I went to the laksa stall, I saw a photo of mihun soup so I ended up ordering the latter. My mihun soup was quite nice. Clear and not too much MSG. RM5.00 per bowl.

Hubby had this special kueh chap for RM7.00. Tasted very herbal and thick.

The place is clean and service was fast. Maybe because it is new. The place was quite packed last Sunday. We would definitely not mind coming here again as long as we could find a parking spot.

Clean food

There is this interesting cafe that serves healthy and organic dishes in Jalan Rubber (the row of shop behind CIMB Bank).

KCH Clean Food (what a name!) has a nice, descriptive menu that includes organic brown rice, healthy entrees, hearty pasta and healthy and detox drinks.

I am sure this is a great place for those who are health-conscious, and looking for nice food.

The set-up of the place is quite unique in its own way with painted walls and menu written on them.

The history. Started in 2014 as a home-based, delivery service

Espresso and organic stuff

And I spotted the trophies on the counter where you needed to order and pay for your food before you take your seat. One of the owners must be a former body builder.

It was a cold night so my girl and I ordered hot chocolate. Look at the foam art on the hot chocolate.

We ordered 3 dishes to share among us. First we had this grilled chicken chop. I love the grilled black pepper chop.

Grilled chicken chop RM18.90

The grilled lamb chop was similar to the chicken chop and hubby and I finished up the mashed potatoes.
Grilled Lamb chop RM19.90

This prawn aglio olio was a surprise as we did not expect a big prawn on top of it! The aglio olio was well cooked. Prawn was fresh. One thing was they added chilli flakes to the aglio olio so it was spicy for the kids but yet, Jay finished the whole plate mostly by himself.

Prawn Aglio Olio RM29.90

I personally think it is a nice place to dine in. The food is alright to me but somehow it was quite small portion compared to other places. Saw many tables ordered its brown rice dishes. Maybe I would give the rice dishes a try next time we dropped by here.
