Made from scratch

Was thinking of this long bean pancake last week and on Sunday, I could not stand my craving any more so went to the market to get some long beans.

My favourite childhood pancake cooked by my mum. Long beans pancake. When she made this, everyone will be on the table helping themselves to few slices. My dad is the biggest fan of her pancake.

It was simple to make. With little ingredients, the pancakes were ready to eat in no time.

Here is my recipe for long beans pancake from scratch.

Just mix wheat flour, 3 strands of long beans (chopped), chopped dried prawns, 1 beaten egg, pinch of salt, dashes of light soy sauce, and some water. Mix to a nice batter; not too much flour or too watery.

For more fragrant smell, you can fry the long beans and dried prawns first before adding to the flour. A great tip from my friend.

Heat up the pan with some cooking oil. When it is hot, add in a scoopful of batter to the oil. Let it fry till bottom has turned golden brown.

Flip to the other side and with your spatula, press the pancake to flatten it to your desired thickness. The thinner, the better as it will be crispier.

Dish out once pancake is golden brown.

Serve warm. Eat like that or dipped into your favourite sauce. For me, I like it to be savoury. So light soy sauce is a great dipping.

Anyone want a bite?  ^^

I will buy...but no long beans. Just bought from the stall at Rejang Park, 40 sen each...so expensive now....but theirs are nice. My girl loves them - so keep in fridge, heat up for her when she comes home tomorrow.
