Shop and clean

Last Saturday, we spent our morning shopping for CNY. A little late for food shopping this year but we did our shopping for the children's new clothes and canned drinks earlier this month.

We went to our favourite hypermarket around 9am and it was not that crowded. We spent nearly 2 hours going through the aisles and get some groceries as well as CNY food at the same time. 2 shopping carts to fulfil our shopping list!

We got a box of the mandarin oranges.

And a kuih bakul (nian gao or sweet sticky rice cake) and 2 packs of dried pearl mushrooms.

And our stocks of snacks ready for the visitors!!!

And I also got myself this pack of goodness! My favourite nut!! Could not stop munching on them in front of the tv while drinking my favourite alcoholic drink, Shandy! Too bad it is so expensive for a small pack.

In the afternoon, we did some cleaning around the house. I cleaned up one of the bathrooms, hubby cleaned the backyard while kids were busy cleaning the walls that stained with doodles. Everyone was "gotong-royong"; that is the spirit. ^^

Just when we thought it was time to relax and catch some movies, we experienced an-hour blackout in the evening! We were in the dark!!

So we basically had our candlelit dinner that night but luckily the blackout did not last too long as the boys started to get fussy and hot.

More cleaning to do before the CNY. No maids or cleaners for me, so I would have to do a bit of cleaning day by day. Don't want to get myself exhausted.

Those nuts are really expensive, can't have it too often, money not enough ;)

It is too bad that those nuts are so expensive. Sounds like you had a fun and productive time. :)

Wish I were in Kuching, I would drop by and help myself to all the goodies!

We went to church 6.30 and there was the blackout and we had to proceed in the dark but no sooner had the service started at 7, it came back!!! Great timing!

Earlier this month I washed the curtains at home in a day. I fell sick after that and it lasted an entire week :(

I love macadamia nuts too. Yes, it is expensive but it's so nice!

Your kids are so nice, can gotong royong clean the house :D

Nice! You have got your CNY shopping done. Now just need to clean bit by bit and by CNY, your house would be all ready for CNY!

Chris is down with flu, I am also getting flu soon so quickly took some medicine before it comes full blown, I think I better stop eating those CNY snacks if not will fall sick, so scare of falling sick especially during CNY when the clinics are closed

It is 'asking for trouble' to do everything in one go. I'm with you on doing it day by day. I'm almost done except for the bathroom which I will leave for last! ^.^

Ah I remember doing the CNY preparations with my mum and dad when I was younger. Always fun and I love the build up the excitement as we count down to the lunar new year

I can feel the excitement before the festive day!

I haven't started my CNY shopping. Only a few pairs of clothes for my baby from online. No time to stroll around shopping centres in Kuching yet. Huhuhu...

and that blackout made my baby emo too.. she's aircond girl and we need to bring her out for car ride when the sky turned dark.

and it is definitely no easy to become a wife and mum. I'm starting to understand.
