It is a blessing to have a wonderful school holiday with beautiful, haze-free weather on some days. Haze or no haze, I am sure the kids have a good rest and fun for over a week! Tomorrow would be back to school for them, but before that, let us enjoy today, a beautiful Sunday.
Not only it is a Sunday today but it is that time of the year again!! Time to indulge in those sweet mooncakes and burn some paper lanterns during the Mid-Autumn festival, which falls today.
Traditionally, I would go for those lotus seed mooncakes without yolk. So without fail, this year I ordered no yolks mooncakes to indulge in.
Peppermint (L) and white lotus
Thankfully the home baker that I ordered with was doing hers finely; her mooncakes are less sweet. She has petite package that comes with 8 mooncakes so I ordered a pack to try and another pack to give to my parents. 4 flavours are white lotus, pandan, green tea and peppermint.
Hmm. Could not wait till tonight where the kids could play with some lanterns while enjoying the mooncakes. I would go for the white lotus and peppermint. Which flavour do you like??
Happy Mid-Autumn!!
Me.. Big yes to yolks ;)
ReplyDeleteNever had white lotus, but I have had peppermint and I love it. :)
ReplyDeletewow...the box looks so nice. Haze has been playing hide and seek with us, sometimes it came and sometimes it went away.

ReplyDeleteI love those blue & white crockery at the back. Tea cups or individual bowls?
ReplyDeleteI like traditional skin and lotus paste, don't mind a salted egg yolk or two. Did not buy any though, too expensive. Buy two, my whole family can go for a nice lunch, drinks included, with the money.
Have fun!!! Rain here, hope the weather is fine there.
Chinese tea cups. At the back is teapot.
DeleteI like anything that's not too sweet, Rose. Happy Mid-Autumn! Enjoy your evening with the family. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Mid-Autumn Festival! I like white lotus, peppermint, black beans, all with lots of kuachi! And of course a single yolk in it!
ReplyDeleteHappy mid-autumn festival. :)
ReplyDeleteWah, your mooncakes are special, yes? :)
I am adventurous when it comes to mooncakes. Don't mind trying all the funky flavours around. Happy Mid Autumn festival to you and family :)
ReplyDeleteWah, so many flavors.. I only like traditional flavors like lotus, red bean and pandan, call me jakun, haha..
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things to eat! :)
ReplyDeleteI love mooncakes, although most of my mooncakes this year were from Taiwan since I was travelling a lot this month. The peppermint one sounds really good. I've never tried that flavor before.
I got chocolate and pineapple ones this year. I think the most unusual one is pork floss + mung bean + salted egg which turned out to be really yummy.
My better half also got a Hakka mooncake, she told me she saw mui choy (the preserved vegetable) mooncakes too!
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival Rose! :)
Nowadays, the mooncake boxes are nice...
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the peppermint one too. Can see from your fb photos all of you enjoyed this mooncake festival!
ReplyDeleteNot a huge fan of mooncake but HB loves it.So he gotten quite a lot from Taiwan...surprisingly I love their mooncake because the skin is made from puff pastry.
