By the beach

I wish the weekend would be longer. Over the weekend, we have a mini staycation by the beach.

This was actually a last minute decision. On Thursday, hubby asked me to plan a staycation for a night in Damai so I were busy the whole morning, calling and searching online. As it was just few days away, I did not have much choices and most resorts are fully booked due to the long weekend.

Finally I settled for Damai Puri Resort & Spa. Reason was that we have never been to Damai Puri. It used to be Damai Lagoon before new management took over and refurbished it many years ago. But everything looked almost the same except for some new attractions that were not there before.

Beautiful view

We bumped into few friends and familiar faces while we were there. Looked like many people from the city have their holiday in beaches somewhere around Kuching. ^^

Our room is in the last block

Of course the kids were the most excited bunch as they could get away from home. After our church, we directly drove to Damai.

Along there, we stopped by Buntal, a small village for lunch since it was still early. We went to Teo Seafood and what so ironic about it was the last time we came here was 3 years ago. That time Jamie was not even conceived and now here we are with him! And there we bumped into our friends and kids who had a stay in the same resort a night early. So they were heading home while we were just starting our holiday.

The reception was very packed when we reached there. After queuing up for almost 30 minutes, the kids were restless and keep asking me questions. Luckily we did not need to wait for our room unlike some guests. After got our key, we went to the beach. Weather was gloomy and it did rained but after it has stopped, it was very breezy on the beach.

A couple friends when learnt we were there, brought their young kids for a fun time on a day trip. That was a great play group for the kids. Once in water, everyone got to mingle around and have fun. No more shyness after that! And they had a splashed time in children's pool too.

Jan and Jay with their playmates

And I have a great time too. Must be the sun, sand and sea! How much we missed the beach holiday.

The reluctant faces when it was time to head home

Honestly, I never think much about staycation  in the past because of the packing and hassle of bringing kid(s) to stay someplace away from home. However after this mini staycation, I love and enjoy it. Everyone gets together and spend time as a family. And I come home feeling happy and refreshed. I don't mind it at all.
