Peach gum



We received few hampers this year. On Chap Goh Mei, we unwrapped the hampers. One of the hampers had this peach gum in it. Oh wow!! Never cooked peach gum before so it is first time for me to do it.


Well packed in 6; handful of peach gum, few slices of red dates and few rock sugar cubes. Before I took one pack to cook, I googled for some information. Oh, need to soak first then can be used and cooked. 


It called for overnight soaking, so I did that. The next morning, I simply added the peach gum into a pot of boiling water, added the spiced date and rock sugar cubes. Let it simmer. Then ready to drink!!

Jan and I shared this bowl of peach gum tong sui, both of us liked it.  Will finish up the remaining peach gums and maybe will buy it from health shop.

  1. We also like to drink tong sui with peach gum. Was surprised to know that peach gum is the sap from peach trees when the trees are "tortured", they will release more sap. 😲

  2. I have never heard of peach gum. Is it a speciality from Malaysia? The desserts looks very tempting.

  3. don't think I have ever heard of peach gum or eaten them without knowing it's peach gum. would like to try some though.

  4. the peach gum tong sui is usually served in Chinese banquet....hence i had it only during special occassion, like wedding or birthday dinner. Never have this at home coz seldom boil tong sui.

  7. I love peach gum and its so easy to make. Just that sometimes are too lazy to make one.

  8. I like peach gum tong sui too but the cleaning part is a bit tedious.
