On this rare day when my sis whatsapp-ed me for lunch as she was off. So after few minutes of whatsapp-ing, we (me and Jamie) went out to pick her and mum for lunch. At that point, we were still undecided on where to go.
First, we made a round in Brighton Square. Not many outlets opened as it was a Monday. Then, mum suggested to go to this Melaka Favourite for chicken rice balls as she has never been there before. And so was my sister.
So off we went to RH Plaza for our Melaka lunch. It has been many months since I came here and the lady boss who hailed from Melacca, still remembered me. Her friendly demeanor is one reason I like to come here.
After a brief chit-chatting and placing our order with her, our food came in no time.
We ordered 2 balls for each of us while the chicken portion is for 2. More than enough for us.
My lunch companions were commenting the rice was nice, not too dry and tasty. Nothing to shout about the chicken but both loved the chilli dipping which was spicy, and sweet.
We also have this stir-fried lady fingers (RM5.00) as side dish. So much for RM5.00 but we enjoyed it very much.
I wanted cendol on this warm morning, so I ordered 2 kinds of ingredients for my cendol. Just the green cendol and red beans. They gave us a separate cup of gula Melaka so we could add in the syrup according to our preference.
My sis' cendol looked more beautiful and colourful than mine. Hers was 3 kinds; namely cendol, red beans and cincai (grass jelly).
My satisfied lunch companions. Happy with the food and full to the max! Both got the taste of Melaka's famous food here.
Ya...chicken is chicken - at best, it may be a little nicer than some others even the corn fed chicken or the kampung chicken that we have here. It is the rice that I always emphasise on, must be very very nice. Most are bland, quite tasteless - might as well eat plain rice with the chicken, not much difference.
ReplyDeleteCendol looks really good. I must check this place out the next time I hop over to Kuching.
That is such a nice lunch outing. Best of all is the cendol!
ReplyDeleteThe rice balls look special from the normal chicken rice. I like the way they served the gula Melaka separately. The cendol look so delicious.
ReplyDeleteWahhh.. in that case, no need to go Melaka.. hahahaa... the chicken rice balls indeed look enormous... Ipoh still does not have Malacca food as yet..
ReplyDeleteFood looks good. So nice can eat authentic Melaka food in Kuching. The green cendol looks so thick! Nice!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm now craving for Cendol. muhuhu
ReplyDeleteGosh. That reminds me of my last Malacca trip! I wanna revisit again! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe have a chicken ball rice here in Toa Payoh, but now do not know if it's still there as long time didn't go there liao...
ReplyDeleteNice! I'm missing Melaka food already..been a long time since my last visit.
