It is just a normal day today when I sent my kids to school. Did not really noticed anything unusual about my son, Jay. However he did complained of itchy soles early this week and I noticed some rashes on his thighs. I rubbed it off as allergy as he did have allergic problem in the past.
However few minutes after dropping him off in school, his teacher called me up and mentioned about spots on his hands and legs. That put me on alert as I heard about the seriousness of HFMD. My friend's children got it last December and both were serious and confined at home.
So I immediately brought Jay to Paed to confirm and true enough, he is diagnosed with HFMD!
Gosh! One after another. I was down with germ infection last week and then princess developed high fever on Sunday and still recovering from flu and cough. And now Jay was down with HFMD!
He was normal and active as usual. No fever. However he did complained of tiredness last Sunday and slept very early that evening. He was alright the next day.
Doctor checked his temperature and mouth and throat. Everything was fine. Doctor prescribed antivirus tablets , allergy syrup and cream. Need to rest at home. Which means a break for him!
Noticed the rashes on his thighs on Tuesday morning. His hands developed rashes and blisters-like spots this morning.
Jay could not be happier as it means no school till he is recovered. He happily finished his antivirus tablet which is soluble in water and make it blue.
I need to be careful and separate him from other kids as it is highly infectious. Keep his hand clean and make him drink more fluid. At least he did not give me much headache for time being. He eats and drinks well and only complained of itchiness on his feet.
Speedy recovery to him...

ReplyDeleteoh...dear ... poor kid. It's painful for him to eat as those red ulcers would be in his throat too. My daughter had it before and it was tough. Anyway, the good news is it will clear up soon. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI hope Jay will remain like this until he recovers. I pray that his throat will be sparred from all this. Speedy recovery to Jay and mummy, please take care of yourself too.

ReplyDeleteYes, keep clean. Wipe surfaces. But that thing for hands one, wash with that. Keep the boy away from the rest, or in fact, from everybody.
ReplyDeleteMy girl got it when she was small - when nobody knew anything about it and...I got it too. None on the mouth as well, but so painful when wanted to bend my fingers.
Speed recovery to him. Amani got HFMD twice, and it's March... the famous month for the disease. I also scared and always watch out for her health since then.
ReplyDeleteget well soon J.
OMG! I don't know much about HFMD but I've heard a lot of generally bad things about it especially for children...
ReplyDeleteHope he gets well soon. Bless!
