Hubby is very busy flying in and out as he has started his new job this month and same time still managing the Sibu branch. 2 jobs at a time. Salary is the same, but more workloads. By October, he will pass the Sibu branch manager position to the next guy and station in Miri. So once a while he will be flying to Sibu over the weekend. This week, he will be in Miri and Labuan.
So he will request me to cook certain dishes when he is at home. How could I not cook for him? *wink* Last weekend, he was craving for pek ting yok chicken soup (8 treasure herbs chicken soup). So I just went to the Chinese medicine hall and get a packet of the ready-packed herb for RM9 and cooked it on Saturday evening.
Boiled the herbs for an hour or so before added in the kampung chicken
I do not really like the smell and taste of this herb soup, so I gave it a pass. But I did taste a bit of this fruit. Yeap, it is the season!! O-ka-na (or local called it, dabai). This yummy black olive is from Kapit, the best of all.
Ooohh, hubby request to cook, then sure must cook lor, guess he's mising home cooked food coz he seldom can eat wife's cooking leh.. Your soup looks very flavourful, with the chicken and all, I like.. I can eat just the chicken, with rice (and soup, of course).. Ooohh, I first heard of dabai from STP when I was reading his blog, but I've never eaten that b4..
ReplyDeleteArghh... I can't believe that I still haven't tried dabai.
ReplyDeleteAm happy to hear that hubby will be in my hometown, Labuan..haha ;)
Soup looks good , nutritious !
ReplyDeleteThe soups looks good...
ReplyDeleteYou don't like the soup so lucky for your husband. He can enjoy it all by himself. You are a good wife.
ReplyDeleteOh yumm...the chicken. Slurpp!!
ReplyDeleteI love pek ting eyok with duck but they say it is eaten for enjoyment only. For rejuvenating when tired, should cook char bee lau chicken (fragrant root/wood).
ReplyDeleteDabai from Kapit good? I bought from Kanowit, RM20 so so so good - never had anything so good for a long time. Bought some from Selangau, RM15, good but not as good but better than the ones that we bought earlier...from Sarikei. I love dabai!!!
Here, you can click this link to see the roots I mentioned in my previous comment:
