Last week, I brought my hubby to Bus Terminal to send a parcel. It was in the afternoon so we went to Medan Food Court, which was opposite Bus Terminal for lunch.
It was our first time to Medan Food Court. Not a good place to have meal as it was rather filthy and nothing there really fancied me. But hubby heard that the roasted meat rice was nice, so we decided to give it a try since we were in the vicinity.
Hubby ordered a plate of mixed meat. RM12.00 per plate, enough for 3 persons. I quite like the roasted pork belly as it was crispy. The char siew was good too.
I do not mind to come for its roasted meat rice, but it would not be soon. As it is out of the way and unless we needed to go to bus terminal for parcel delivery, this place is not our choice.
Few nights ago, we wanted to go to this Delish Kitchen & Payung Mahkota in Orchid Hotel for dinner but it was not open by time we were there. So we ended up at this new chicken rice place. Suituapui mentioned this Chen Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice recently, so
I told him I will give it a try.
Nothing impressive about the setting. It has open kitchen where you see them prepare the food and they used computerised system so they keyed in what you ordered on the spot.
Of course we had 2 side dishes to balance up our nutrition, so a plate of bean sprouts (RM5)

We had half chicken (RM17) and 3 plates of rice. And how tall was their chicken rice pyramid! I could not finish my rice. Enough for 2 persons. The rice was alright but could do more with extra "oil" and seasoning. Chicken was rather bland for me. However the chili sauce was a savior here, so we had lots of its chili sauce to go with our rice and chicken.

And a bowl of steamed tofu with minced chicken (RM6). My sil commented my steamed tofu with minced meat tasted better than this. Lol!
It is a halal food outlet so no pork is served.
That's it. One of my very few not-so-impressive food experience that I recently had.
Aiyo the tofu, looks so kesian.
ReplyDeleteNot great eh? Not in a hurry to go and try then. VERY popular in Miri, people there say so so good.
ReplyDeleteMedan Food Court? Now where on earth is that? Never heard of it nor seen it.
P.S.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you meant Sibu Bus Terminal Food Court, below Medan Hotel.
I've had the roast meat stall there before - not nice! There is a stall selling Penang prawn noodles (hay mee) - I like that.
*I've tried...*
ReplyDeleteThe pyramid rice looks so interesting! The food must be so so.only since your sil says your food is better.
ReplyDeleteThe rice looks big portion...
ReplyDeleteWah your chicken rice is very unique, looks very interesting.. Triangular shape.. To me the cili is most important.. If cili is nice then I can finish two big plates of just the rice.. Haha
ReplyDeleteI've to say the steamed tofu doesn't look impressive at all. So sorry your food adventure didn't turn out well.......
ReplyDeleteP.P.S.:
ReplyDeleteBtw, the original Delish Kitchen guys have moved to the bowling centre food court. I hear the ones who have taken over at the Mahkota place aren't so good at it.
wah ... I love all these food ...char siew, tofu , bean sprout.
ReplyDeleteThe rice is in pyramid shape, very special!
ReplyDeleteah the verdict! ok then maybe i shdnt try it next time. thanks!
ReplyDeletelooking at that chili sauce makes me wanna make them too.. but first thing first, i need to go find the recipe. Don't wanna waste too much chilies if experiment fail.. hahaha..
ReplyDeleteThe chicken rice pyramid looks pretty cool! Never seen them served like that before.
