Longan or Rambutan?

They called it Longan but it tastes more like rambutan to me. I never seen a longan that big before.



The shell is hard that you cannot peel it but need to knock lightly using a small hammer. The flesh is sweet like rambutan but shell looks like longan. So what it is by the way?

    Ya, I am also curious to know what fruit it is. Does the seed look like a longan seed? Please take a photo of the seed too and show us. Thank you.

    Locally grown ones. Not bad, quite nice...but I'm not really into these...or rambutans, for that matter.

    The shell looks like a bigger version of longan but the fruits looks like rambutan, interesting!

    To me, these fruits taste like longan.
    I don't like longan but I like rambutan.

    Thank you Rose for the photo of its seed. The seed does not look like longan at all.

    From STP's info, I did a google search and found the name of this fruit. The local people called it Brazil or Brazilian longan but its actual name is "Pometia pinnata" ,Fijian Longan or also known as Matoa.
