My way

I don't know about you but this is my way of eating naan.

It was Chinese New Year eve and we went to Curry House for breakfast.

I was craving for cheese naan that morning so I order a piece for sharing. Wish for more cheese on top though.

And we also had this nice curry lamb. Their curry lamb is good, we always order it when we done here.

This is how I enjoy my cheese naan. Tear a piece of the naan, add a piece of lamb or potato to it. Roll or fold the naan and pop into the mouth. Yes, my way of eating naan.

How about you??

Reunion

It has been a while since the last time we went to my parents' house for reunion dinner on CNY eve. It wasn't meant to be this year too but we happened to drop by to pass some wild Longan fruits to them. The longan was from my in-law who bought over from Kapit.

So it happened when we dropped by at my parents, they were about to start eating lunch. Yes, they were having reunion lunch this year since my brother needed to go to his in-laws for dinner.

So we 'helped' ourselves to the reunion lunch. My mum's specialty dishes such as braised duck and bamboo shoot soup.

Then we drove back to my in-law's house to hang out. We also did the egg standing stuff and believe me, I did my egg standing stunt for the first time!

It took some time but I did made my egg standing still. So proud of myself. Jamie and daddy did theirs with ease while Jan can't do it. Next year try again, Jan!

Around 5pm, we had our reunion dinner. My brother-in-law did all the cooking.

Meatball soup

His specialty got to be the vinegar pork trotter and fried white rice cake.

The kids had their turn to eat first on the table before the adults took their turn to enjoy the food.

Reunion dinner for kids

While we were at the table, the cousins had a great time reconnected and taking many photos. It was fun looking at the kids, growing up and getting together on Chinese New Year eve.

We are ready

It is all set to welcome the Year of Pig in a couple of days!!

A little corner of my house decorated with vases of cherry blossom and a basket of mandarin oranges.

Also display of this charcoal decoration that we bought recently.

Nian gao holds an important aspect in Chinese New Year. It symbolises good luck and prosperity.  My mini nian gao with pumpkin.

A basket of oranges means abundance and wealth.

Another basket of oranges, pamelo, pineapple and leeks.

New lanterns were up too.

When they lighted up.

This year we received 2 hampers, such a great blessing for the new year.

Wishing everyone a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year! Happy holidays!

Early morning

It has been a while since we dropped by this food court but one early Sunday morning, we went there as we needed to get something from the hypermarket across the road.

Chee cheong fun (RM5)

We had this nice prawn chee cheong fun as a starter.

Cha kueh (RM6)

The cha kueh stall was next to the ccf stall and smelling the nice smell out from the stall, we decided to try a plate of cha kueh.

It was sweet version but thankfully it wasn't too sweet to my liking.

Kueh chap (RM6)

I had this lovely bowl of warm, herbal kueh chap as well that morning. Something to warm me up.

The packets

The red packets that I got so far this year. I love generic red packets. Not those that follow the Chinese mosaic signs and you could only use them on that particular year or 12-years down the road!

Maybe because it is the Year of Pig or some called it Year of Boar. I haven't got any printed with the pig zodiac.

First packets we got were from Parkson when we did our shopping. And from a local pharmacy which giving out their own printed red packets.

Lovely design of red packets from this bank this year.

I think this year, Maxis outdone themselves with this design. I love its ang pow the most. 6 in a pack and you need to assemble them to see a bigger picture.

Red packets from 2 insurance/investment companies. I like the gold fish red packet.

My man saw these packets from Supersave one weekend and he couldn't resist not to buy them.

Changed

Remember the beautiful enchanting Christmas decoration in The Spring Mall last year?? Like previous years, they recycled and used the same set up for the Chinese New Year decoration. Of course the poinsettia flowers changed to cherry blossoms to create that spring season ambience.

No more magical garden but they did keep that wind or whatever it is gadget around and shifted it to the other concourse area. Somehow, felt like not much effort in putting up a nice showcase of CNY decoration this year after an impressive Christmas piece.

I enjoyed its past years decoration as this and this.

We went to its food gallery for late lunch after done with our shopping and movie on one Sunday. I tried the Indonesian stall for a change. New stall to me since I never tried it out before.

Nasi bebek (RM13.90)

They have this fried duck rice on the menu, called nasi bebek so I had that. Surprisingly it was good. The duck meat wasn't tough, the skin was crispy and I enjoyed my first nasi bebek that day.
