We went to the multi-storey car park of Sibu Central Market last Saturday to celebrate my BIL's birthday. What? A car park? You read it correctly! Not just ordinary car park but surprise! We had a steamboat and bbq dinner there.
This place called "King Kong BBQ Steamboat" is located on the rooftop of the 11th floor. Can you imagine having a feast on a rooftop overseeing the Rajang River? Once you step into this place, it is a true eating heaven!
All you can eat feast! They charged RM13.90 per head with time limit of 2 hours. I am sure by then you are too full to eat anymore!
First impression when the bbq steamboat pan came to our table was it looked like a mountain surrounded by river! Not the normal bbq steamboat pan and pot that you have seen before. The round protruding pan was where you grilled your food. The steamboat broth was at the edge. You have to directly scoop and drink the broth from the shallow edge. What is more interesting is it is heated up by charcoal, not electric or gas-operated.
There were some good choices for bbq and steamboat. Mostly chickens, and porks marinated in different sauces. Some beef too but no lamb. Not much fresh seafood though; mostly were fish balls and meatballs. They also have fried noodles and rice in case you are hungry to wait for the bbq and steamboat to be ready. You can take all you want but no wastage, as they will charge accordingly.
They only served canned drinks and beers so pretty limited drink choices. However you can make your own ABC from the condiment provided!
For those who want to try this place, King Kong Bbq Steamboat is operating from 530pm to 1030pm.
You get to enjoy a good view of the old part of the city and Rajang River from here.
As for my bil, we had a cute birthday cake and a wine for his present. Cute cake, right? He is a mechanic in case you wonder why the picture on the cake. ;)

ReplyDeleteYou have to keep topping the soup? coz I see so shallow, not much soup there..
ReplyDeleteYes Merryn. They have us a pot so we topped ourselves. Everything self services. And guess what? No butter here for oiling the bbq pan. They used pork fat (pork belly)! ^^
