Had Roti Tisu not so long ago with my Jay in Curry House. My sudden craving for this crispy, thin flatbread.
Pizza lunch for the kids- they simply love no-rice meals. Pizza. Kids can't resist it.
I am more of a rice person. Rice with curry chicken and salted mustard were the best meal for me.
Spent some times teaching my Jay multiplication table over the holiday.
How to teach kids division?? My boy has problem understanding the logic of division but not much problem with multiplication. Took me some time to make him understand. I guess practice makes perfect.
So small his handwriting, so "eyew siew" (delicate). :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteGosh, I remember having to memorize the multiplications tables when I was in primary school. The amazing thing is that I still remember 12 x 12 = 144. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like roti tisu and pizza too! I have to memorize timetable and I am glad I did because I still can remember it now!
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, I have ever shared in my blog how to teach children division, you can read them here: http://libbyfu.blogspot.sg/search?q=division
ReplyDeleteAn example would be:
Teaching long division can be challenging, as it builds upon the principles of both multiplication and subtraction. When teaching division, first try to break the process down to its fundamental root, which is repeated subtraction. Show them that what a division problem really asks is "How many times can a number be subtracted from another number?
Demonstrate the meaning of division by showing how we are just really counting how many times a value can be subtracted. Start with a simple division problem, such as 12 divided by four. Subtract four from 12 and mark that we have subtracted one time. The result is eight. Since eight is bigger than four, we can subtract four again. Now, our count shows we've subtracted two times. This time, eight minus four yields four and four is equal to four, so we can still subtract again, this time getting zero. We've now subtracted four a total of three times. It means four divides into 12 a total of three times. Or, 12 divided by four is three.
Hope this helps.
I used to read to my kid when he was just a baby, & would play multiplication songs when he was just a toddler. This works amazingly as he knew all his 12 times tables even before entering kindergarten! You can buy those CDs from bookstores. I'm sure they've other types of Mathematics songs for kids. Worth trying, dear! xoxo
